Christian Bale is an extremely passionate actor. He really dedicates himself to the roles in movies and you can tell he loves to do what he does. I'm also impressed that he has tried so many different kind of roles and genres.
+CNMUF Supposedly he modelled it after his own lawyer. What's really strange to me is the similarity to Brent Spiner (Data from Star Trek), especially when he is doing laughing dialogue.
@@MartyrLoserKing Apperantly they also thought he was a very bad actor because he was playing a bad actor and didn't understand his acting until they've seen the film.
Hey really liked this -- it helps to appreciate the movie more, with all the social debate over it being misogynistic and all. Cudos to finding this little gem!
Absolutely. In fact, this is one of the most hysterical and hilarious films that I have ever seen. I was not expecting a black comedy when I first watched this years ago, as it was sort of advertised as a horror film.
1:32 - GMan! But seriously, this film is a triumph, just like the book. The reality is that all these thoughts are in everyone's heads to some degree and the story just chooses to look inside the mindset of someone who has let them cross his boundaries of sanity.
@MiltonProductions Exactly!! I don't think "the academy" liked its content. This movie was done to perfection...it should be considered ART. Did you read the book as well?
I need to read American Psycho again. I listened to it as an audiobook but I didn't find the satire in it. I think I need to read it and not listen to audiobook, because the movie is just such top notch satire.
i once read somewhere that even though he's English.. Christian Bale puts on an American accent in any American interview of his and his normal english accent in English ones..
lol I've always wished they had some tight leather gloves instead of those snowball throwing gloves he wor in the movie. Idk why that distracts me so much.
I find it funny how Americans are always percevied as being the arrogant ones of the worlds-because whenever I read movie comments I always find a cocky statement by some European who is trying to lift himself up by bashing Americans and pointing out their supposed ignorance.
@MegaTress1 Don't know if it's worth mentioning there's a video on here where Bret Easton Ellis himself calls American Psycho "a critique of male behaviour"
Christian Bale did the interview for this while faking an American accent....I guess he was shy to show that he was British during the pre-Batman years of his stardom....very strange.
@COMMANDRofAWESUM It could be the fact that he's spending a lot of time in role so he's keeping the role active i suppose. Or it could be the fact that he decides to do i dunno i just did theatre studies :D
I just think it sucks when people see a unilateral way of interpreting the movie; it seems as if it always comes down top how men are this and men are that! I personally saw the story of an individual sick of society's sterile materialism who flips out because he can`t take it anymore. that is something we can all feel regardless of gender.
Morbid portrait of male behaviour? Actually it's a morbid portrait of Easton Ellis' imagination. And yes I have read the book and watched the movie, love the film. The book was good up until the last 100 or so pages, where it just got disgusting.
Yes I will admit that I am stupid. I just learned today that there was a book, so my sincere apologies, but I guess thats the only pert you felt was funny/worth quoting. Still irritating.
@mattfca Agreed. It's kind of amazing that Ellis is allowed to walk the streets knowing what prattles around in that mind of his, don't you think? It also amazes me what is allowed in print. I'm fairly sure that is not what our forefathers meant by Freedom of Speech.
Aye yi yi....*FACEPALM* When I first watched this movie I grew bored. Then I was like..lemme give it another chance. Second time watching I understood the obvious message about materialism so I'm like...what's the point? So then I read an in-depth analysis about the protagonist and some parts in the book (I'll have to read the whole thing soon for sure) but...wow. READING about him is so much better. I understood him so much more and honestly I think he is (well, was) someone screaming on the inside and put all his frustration in the wrong places because no one else cared. Before I knew it, I was like "I kinda love this guy.....WAIT A MINUTE!" And now I'm sitting here pondering my existence and why I am the way that I am.....
It's a story about a guy who murders women so I don't think she is a feminist per say feminists probably hate the movie she made but she is just not defending the character either.
Christian Bale is an extremely passionate actor. He really dedicates himself to the roles in movies and you can tell he loves to do what he does. I'm also impressed that he has tried so many different kind of roles and genres.
i love that bale stays i his american accent, he was truly perfect for the role
Ha. I did not notice. Just goes to show
he is incredible at accents. he just speaks it when not acting like it his natural accents
+CNMUF Supposedly he modelled it after his own lawyer. What's really strange to me is the similarity to Brent Spiner (Data from Star Trek), especially when he is doing laughing dialogue.
@G E T R E K T nice
In my opinion the greatest actor of this generation
Without any doubt. And this was his greatest performance.
definitely a stretch but he is incredible
I always dig when he sticks with his characters accents during his various films.
Bateman is a phenomenal actor. Read the book after watching the movie and you can only see Bateman as portrayed by Bale.
He stays in character the whole time
Christian bales hair....
awesome.
Slightly better hair cut.
You know im something of a Huey Lewis and the News fan myself
This movie left me craving sea urchin ceviche. I've had sea urchin at sushi bars but a Portugese style sea urchin ceviche? To die for.
Weird that Bale didn't lose the accent for the interview.
I have noticed this before. In some interviews, Christian Bale has a British accent, Things and things.
He is a method actor
Apparently he method acted Patrick and his costars just thought he was a huge douche.
@G E T R E K T 905 another martini, paul?
@@MartyrLoserKing Apperantly they also thought he was a very bad actor because he was playing a bad actor and didn't understand his acting until they've seen the film.
He's using that accent for months on end, it sticks after a while.
Haha when I first saw this I thought his American accent was legit.
Iconic perfomance by Christian, but I really wish he had more scenes with Willem!
Its crazy how good Christian bale played Patrick Bateman, there will never be a movie like this while we're alive on planet earth
I love how he is staying in character even during the interview with the American accent
Hey really liked this -- it helps to appreciate the movie more, with all the social debate over it being misogynistic and all. Cudos to finding this little gem!

great tan marcus, really impressive. I have a tanning bed at home, you should look into it.
you can tell he is still in character because in real life he has a fairly heavy accent
1:32 - GMan!
But seriously, this film is a triumph, just like the book. The reality is that all these thoughts are in everyone's heads to some degree and the story just chooses to look inside the mindset of someone who has let them cross his boundaries of sanity.
He would play an amazing GMan
if christian never became BATMAN, he would make an awesome Joker
the amazingly sexy christian bale said in a interview he doesnt change the voice of the character for ages so his accent is always diffrent
Batman VS Green Goblin
method acting my friend!!
HA HA! YES! Now THAT IS my favourite quote! ...In context of the scene, of course.
Just make sure its bone and the font is tremendous. Do u like phil collins?
the book is no gore fest its closer to a catalog or a to do list thats whats so fucking cool about it the reader needs the release as much as pat does
What is the theme song in the first 20 seconds of the video??? I try'ed to look at American Psycho soundtrack but I can't find it :(
@MiltonProductions
Exactly!! I don't think "the academy" liked its content. This movie was done to perfection...it should be considered ART. Did you read the book as well?
:55 The book was set in '89.
I need to read American Psycho again. I listened to it as an audiobook but I didn't find the satire in it. I think I need to read it and not listen to audiobook, because the movie is just such top notch satire.

This generation needs NEEDS NEEDS hard working people in Calvin Klein
@MegaTress1 Don't know if it's worth mentioning there's a video on here where Bret Easton Ellis himself calls American Psycho "a critique of male behaviour"
mola mola mola!! ainss the psyco-man by definition!! ;)
Christian Bale did the interview for this while faking an American accent....I guess he was shy to show that he was British during the pre-Batman years of his stardom....very strange.
Yeah, but Christian Bale likes to speak with an American accent for some of his American film interviews.
Was he removing his accent in this video?
Your apology is accepted. I accept your unconditional surrender. Victory!
did bale really kill paul allen i am confused?
jane😍
@COMMANDRofAWESUM It could be the fact that he's spending a lot of time in role so he's keeping the role active i suppose. Or it could be the fact that he decides to do i dunno i just did theatre studies :D
your comment made me go want to read it. so ty
what's the music in the first 23 sec?
You still wanna know ?
a whole bunch actually, no academy awards though
I suppose you're right, I just wasn't sure.
@asassin06 he was born in wales
what song is in the back does anyone know
@mattfca
This is from two months ago - so..what did you think of the book?
I just think it sucks when people see a unilateral way of interpreting the movie; it seems as if it always comes down top how men are this and men are that! I personally saw the story of an individual sick of society's sterile materialism who flips out because he can`t take it anymore. that is something we can all feel regardless of gender.
I saw it as the summation of an increasingly evil decade of greed, cocaine, and even murder. Farewell yuppies. You will not be missed.
@Verderer little island beside Europe............. ;)
lols - yeah you win. = ) I'll be back when my business cards come in. jk
Or do you mean did he kill the guy who he thought was Paul Allen?
Kinda looks like Travis Barker at 1:48 lol
you will not admitt that there is a obscene amount of gore in the book?
Morbid portrait of male behaviour? Actually it's a morbid portrait of Easton Ellis' imagination. And yes I have read the book and watched the movie, love the film. The book was good up until the last 100 or so pages, where it just got disgusting.

@christme85 The best.
Good film, could have been better.

To be honest I like the film less after seeing the feminist-seeming director talking about it.
It's a story about a guy who murders women so I don't think she is a feminist per say feminists probably hate the movie she made but she is just not defending the character either.
Her perspective as a “feminist-seeming” woman is what made this movie what it is
the books great! but total gorno
