I don't know if they were faking it or not. But this was one of the best interviews I've enjoyed. Maybe because Mr.Nolan is so very serious all the time.

you cant just fake this type of interactions. You can tell Nolan's reactions and Downey's jokes were on the spot and genuine
Seeing Christopher Nolan genuinely chuckle and giggle is a thing of beauty.
Introvert vs extrovert
Nolan is notoriously famous for avoiding interviews, so having RDJ bring out a more fun side to him is really heartwarming.
He seems to have crawled out of his shell a bit more for Oppenheimer which is great. This was just a perfect match and a great way to see a less serious side of him.

I really hate this sentiment with people recently with how people accuse RDJ and Ryan Reynolds for just "playing themselves".
@@nem3732 it's because they stopped showing their range, when you look at their smaller movies you can see they are plenty talented but the big movies they do sometimes only show one single side of that talent. Tbh it's less true for RDJ now that Oppenheimer has been released, but Ryan Reynolds hasn't gotten out of his comfort zone in a bit.
RDJ stunts in Oppenheimer were incredible. The walking down that lawn toward Einstein will always stick with me.

Totally agree with Robert at 7:18 I met Chris Nolan and he was a really friendly normal guy, no ego at all.
The fact that both Iron Man and The Dark Knight came out in the same summer and both changed the game for comic book movies, when RDJ was kinda in a weird spot in his career where no one was really wanting him, now years later sitting with Christopher Nolan talking about a film they did together, its the circle of life.

They are the embodiment of a pair of extroverted-introverted friends 😂. RDJ is talking to everybody in the room and the camera (an endearing performer he is), and Chris Nolan just talks directly to him. RDJ throws all kind of fun stuff in the conversation and Nolan, the man who's always behind the camera, just answers with the most important part and listens and laughs at RDJ's jokes. This is such a great pairing.

I love that Nolan doesn’t “rule the set with an iron fist”. The fact that he actually lets people do their job is rare and why his movies feel so authentic.

I can tell RDJ really wants to make more films with Nolan
I think RDJ says it best when it comes to Nolan and how everyone sees him: He has an air of mistique and seems so imposing because we all see him as "one of the best movie directors in the world" and we forget that he's just a man doing what he loves, the best way he cans.
This video helped me see what RDJ was able to experience by working with Nolan.
The fact that Robert Downey Jr. brought up The Dark Knight vs Iron Man in 2008 shows how much fans teased him about it over the years or he’s just that brilliantly aware of his competition ❤️

I love RDJ so much, especially in this interview. He carries this energy of a toddler being allowed to get a huge sundae and waiting in line, excited to order, receive and eat it
Loved how in this interview, when he knew Nolan was going to talk about the "inspiration" for Oppenheimer, he stopped fooling around, like, he is joking all the time, but knows when to get serious.

All the interviews with the whole cast of Oppenheimer have all been fantastic. They all seem to have loved making this film. Chris Nolan seems so down to earth, a smart man but seems like he could have a conversation with anyone. And RDJ is brilliant, funny and also seems down to earth. Can’t wait to see Oppenheimer at the movies tomorrow.
