They both look good and I was on the fence about which one to buy. After watching your video, although you picked Mafex as your choice, I prefer the Mezco Wolverine. The overall design is what did it for me. I don't like the painted forearm on the Mafex, and I like how Mezco made gloves on his forearm rather than just painting it. Good video man
@@Crimprod the face sculpt/claws are gorgeous and they're the reason I almost got it. However the cloth and limited articulation convinced me not to. Besides, I already have 3 Wolverines and will also be getting the upcoming X-force Wolverine by mafex
Good comparison. I still think we are waiting for the ultimate 1/12 Wolverine. I think the Marvel Legends body proportions, Mafex articulation and Mezco accessories would be the closest to perfection
It’s your channel to do as you see fit but it’s obvious that you put your thumb on the scale with the head sculpt to give Mafex a point up advantage, but there’s nothing wrong with that. However I would point it out more so as to not give the impression of being objective.
I went back and forth on the head sculpts. I feel like the Mezco's are better sculpted and painted for what they were going for, I ultimately ended up goin with Mafex because I think their execution was good for what they were going for and I prefer what they were going for. Much of the video is simply my opinion and preferences are going to play a role in that. That being said, Both figures are great and I'd recommend any one to get both if they are able. Thanks for watching!
I went back and forth on the head sculpt category. The Mezcos are great, just for me personally the Mafex was representing my preferred style. I wouldn’t even start to argue with anyone who prefers the Mezco sculpts.
Yeah I agree the Mezco head sculpt is superior to the Mafex, Mafex looks like a cartoon to me & Logan’s face looks dirty and plastic but the Mezco head sculpt looks more live like & very detailed and comes with way more heads
I have both & just received the Mezco today & woah! The whole package with the tin & presentation is incredible! I find it's the perfect Wolverine figure & o many accessories! I didn't actually expect it to be so good! I bought it because of a New Years sale.
Bro what? The mezco heads look 100% better, the Mafex aren't symtrical ears, the skin looks like glossy plastic and was painted by a blind kid. Mezco is so clean
I know it is subjective, but no idea how Mafex could have win head sculpt category with so many heads. On top of this, Mafex unmasked head looks more like Elvis and has zero likeness to comic book Logan
I took into account the number of heads with the accessories category. This was more about my preference for the style Mafex went to and I think Mafex head seems to be a bit more in scale with the body, the Mezco feels big to me but maybe that's just me. haha I can definitely see the Elvis likeness. Thanks for watching
What a completely uneven review. Having both figures Mezco's trumps Mafex. I'd only give Mafex the win for articulation and thats about its. The Mazco is premuim on every level.
The Mezco is by far the better wolverine, more heads, more claws, more hands slash effects, a regular base, a sentinel base with lights The Mafex is $110 Mezco is $155 Mezco is has more value and a more bang for your buck
I prefer the Mezco personally. The Mafex just looks too poorly designed and cheap looking. I really don’t understand how u think the Mafex has more articulation. They both can do the same poses pretty much and those claws on the Mafex are hideous. The only thing that I might would adjust on the Mezco is a slightly lighter blue on his gear pieces but it’s still ok. Those head sculpts and that sentinel base with the Mezco is king though. I feel like it’s literally no comparison that the Mezco flat out topples the Mafex on Wolverine especially.
@@j3productions645 I also wish the Mezco unmasked head had just the closed mouth on both. I pre-ordered the Mezco last year some time from BBTS. I have a handful of Mafex figures but this will be my first Mezco figure.
@@jeremynelson7920 It's a great one to get you started! But I agree, I wish they would have gone with the straight face expression on both. Sometimes they do a little too much trying to have expressions on the figures.
The one you referred to as classic that you didn't like isn't his classic look..... Its actually his first appearance Wolverine...... i think it was only used in two Hulk issues.....
It’s cool how someone can have such different taste then me. I think the head sculpts on the Mafex are horrible especially that unmasked head. The only reason I even collect Mafex is for the articulation but the wrist ball joints drive me insane. Great video!
Mezco has better detail but mafex has the articulation. They both have something the other doesn’t and if you could mix them you’d definitely have the perfect wolverine
You aren't familiar with the design with the points at the bottom ?? Have ya read a comic at all ? Lol mafex wins the head sculpts?? Lol ok not watching 😅
Yeah stopped watching the moment dude chose the mafex head -like the sculpt isn’t even close! You take the hair away from the mafex head sculpt and you wouldn’t even know it’s wolverine. Legends head sculpts look better than the mafex one
I own now the Mezco 1:12 amd i have to say its an amazing figure, I´m hunting the mafex tigger stripes for a while for other diorama, and I think that both have their ups and downs, and I agree with this comparison, although the last category Iwould tide the score, becuase you can fit the Mafex in every 6' scale figures but the mezco with some tricks you can make it fit in 6´and also you can make it fit into 7´ scale figures, like Select or crossovers with mcffarlen´s DC collections, great video!
As a stand alone offering I would probably agree. I just need better compatibility across lines if they aren’t going to have a full team. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the comparisons, I’d go with mafex for overall look being comic accurate, while mezco has better details like the gloves, boots etc, it still look like a cosplay
Honestly this is a hard comparison. As someone else who does stop motion, I like the overall articulation I mafex one but The mezco version comes with a lot of different head sculpts and better head sculpts
Yeah I love both. I like the 90s feel from the Mafex. But I'm not a fan of the way they did the claws. I've been thinking about picking up some different claws for him. My preference is always to work with Mezco because I love the way they look on camera but I do feel like the Mezco Wolverine is going to come across as out of scale if I need to cross lines.
@@j3productions645 yeah he may be a little tall but at least he’s still a little shorter than the average 6 in figure so he can still technically work. But for somebody that does animations, do you still recommend the mafex or would you recommend the mezco for stop motions?
@@grudgematch6653 I'm biased. I prefer Mezcos for my stop motions (if you couldn't tell). I like the way they look on camera and I've only had limited experience with Mafex in stop motion but I feel like the Mezcos are sturdier and balance better (in my experience) which results in my having to remove less rigging in post production. But then again I haven't spent as much time animating with Mafex figures and I see some people do some amazing things with them.
Nice comparison I really like my mafex tiger stripe wolverine. The only issue I have with it is the blue stripes and the claws being to straight and a bit long but this mezco wolverine has some great accessories. I just feel like the mezcos heads look oversized on that body and I'm not a fan of updating the costume with rivets. I do see that mezco is really uping their soft goods game in making it look less doll like. Mafexs new x force wolverine looks super nice and I feel like they will eventually come out with a better tiger stripe wolverine and I can't forget about legends as they're wolverine is looking better and better especially that they've gone pinless.
Yes, hopefully they make those improvements and we get a 2.0. The Mezco head definitely comes off a little oversized. Especially when around other figures. Marvel legends has come a long way and isn’t a bad option at this point.
Good review, and good points. The Mafex has a ton going for it but I really love the 2nd unmasked Mezco and the OG too. Agreed on the points on the mask too, super weird.
Sometimes I think about taking overall look out and breaking into sub categories but I just feel like it’ll make the videos too long. Then some people want me to do stuff like paint apps which can vary from figure to figure and would almost always favor Mezco not only because of their quality but just less paint But if I do that then I’d have to ding a Mezco figure every time I got one where the stitching wasn’t perfect
He said the skull was vibranium on the Mezco head but it's adamantium
Correct. Misspoke. It’s an adamantium skeleton

I guess everyone has there own taste I think mezco wolverine blows mafex out the water
100% agree
I agree but only in sculpt and accessories.
Mafex has better articulation.
@@jstos3675 yea maybe because mafex doesn't have clothing it has the better articulation
