Adam is so happy. He looks like he's in Nerd Nirvana. 😂
Did Adam try it on?!
Did Adam say the movie came out last year? Did he time jump to 2025 or something...because it came out this year, 2024 Adam!
20 years in the making. But a damn fine costume
It's was amazing to see in action. If you grew up with the original X-Men movie this suit is what we alway wanted, by God it didn't disappoint!
fr
They literally couldn’t have built this when he took the role. It’s amazing
But..
25.
18:16 Adam Savage doing the entire cosplay community a solid
The whole video has to be a blessing for cosplayers, so much up close footage of the different parts.
As a seasoned Deadpool cosplayer, I agree. He helped me immensely with my Ghostbusters gear accuracy too 😁
@@PaulGraydonthat’s what he does!
always has
I'm gonna need close ups of every costume though. And how they work. One does not do it for me. I need it all 😂
They did an amazing job with Wolverine's costume. It looked incredible in the movie!!
Agreed.
I love how respected Adam is in the film industry. Says a lot about how he interacts with people.
He once was a model builder at ILM. So he kind of knows how much work goes into making something for a movie. He's also a bit of a geek for it.
@@86LukeMit’s always interesting seeing him talk to the younger model and people makes and being amazed at what techniques are available
@@TonyTylerDraws indeed. He came from the era of handmade or finding ways to do things. Like there's alumaluster which gave that shine to Mando's armor. Adam back in the day had to work on the Naboo Royal Starship and make it shiny. He said he used mylar balloons stretched over the model. It's pretty much a major leap from his time to now.
Why wouldn't he be? He is huge part of it, knows everyone and good person to be around who appreciates others' wotk
That's why I love Adam as an interviewer for stuff like this. He knows the questions to ask, but more importantly, his sudden excitement about something being talked about conveys to us who don't know, that this is an important detail. 😊
I'm really impressed how roomy and comfortable it looks too. Most MCU actors HATED their suits. Chadwick hated his Civil War black panther suit, RDJ hated every suit after the Mark 1 to the point he wanted it CGI, Chris hated his avengers captain america suit etc. So I'm glad they made it easy and comfortable for Hugh to wear. You know you're perfect in your craft when the guy wearing it refuses to take it off and is ecstatic to be in it.
Hugh says in an interview that the suit is uncomfortable too, but he like it. You freaking know-it-all.
I bet he just wanted to take it home.
@@鄭亞當wow you really showed this random guy in the comment section. Nice work!
@@Nyerguds
I bet ryan would have let him but it's sadly an mcu film now, plus he'll need it for the next 10 movies he's in lol.
Chris Evans loved his Civil War costume.
When Hugh pulled on the cowl in the movie, my inner child began to hum the cartoon theme song as my adult self sat with eyes wide and an enormous grin. Great design. 🤘
Cue guitar sounds 😂😂
"Killin', mostly."
It was deafening in the theater when he pulled it on. Lol
Same. 😂😂😂😂
I haven’t seen it. 😐
Can we cover the brown suit? The brown suit is my all time favorite!
Does it actually exist in physical form? Was it not CGI like the Endgame suits?
@@DDavEE ooh, good point.
@@DDavEE By the Gods I hope so!!!
@@DDavEE It does exist, there's a behind the scenes video of the editors talking about the Wolverine variants and showing each of them and it's obviously a practical suit made
It's probably one of the test suits they made to try and nail down this one. Just painted differently. The said they were able to utilize all of their test pieces unless I heard wrong
Wow! the number of people criticising the ‘performance’ of the designers.. they are costume makers, they’re not actors or improv comedians. they’re probably nervous, not everyone can speak confidently on camera.
yeah but it's not like they were asked to give a speech on how to go in for the first kiss of your life to the UN. the questions were things like "So how'd you start making this?" and they'd just stand there and stare at each other. i'm willing to bet Savage didn't just knock on their door one day with a camera, they had time to prepare how to answer "These knees look complicated!" leads.
@@dilloncainYou can't exactly throw Social Anxiety away because you know something is going to happen.
I think they did a banger of a job at talking and not being stiff, they were great!
@@dilloncain Not sure where you are from, but we are not the most confident or outspoken people on the planet.
"Wow! The number of people.... " Stop making stuff up bro nobody was making those comments you just wanted attention
Cosplayers will have a field day with this video , i bet someone will try to make (copy) this to the utmost detail. XD
I've been wanting to see wolverine in a comic book accurate costume since I feel in love with the character back in 1989. I think the final product hit the mark very well.
They were shocked to be in front of Adam for about 98% of this video. Loved it! The funniest thing is that Adam was so excited and humble as always.
Yeah, that had to be weird to be in special effects and having Adam Savage praising your work
I’m hoping so because the version I bought online is super tight and zipper quality is horrible. The pauldrons and knee pads are flimsy plastic as well
Lmao at Adam's super quick movement at 11:05 putting the cowl on his face as he blurts out "Can I?" As if he wasn't going too if they said no lol😂😂
Of all the Marvel costumes ever made, I feel like Wolverine's yellow suit was the most important to get right. They absolutely knocked it out of the park
I would argue Ironman's was the most important being the film that launched the MCU. But I agree they nailed it, the 4th grader in me is over the moon
@@rage2476 that's fair, re: Iron Man. They nailed that one too. I just think Wolverine's suit was an even bigger deal because Hugh has been playing him for 20 odd years and we never saw him in the yellow suit until now, and Wolverine is a WAY more popular character than Iron Man was until the MCU. Iron Man debuted his classic red and gold armor in the first movie, we had to wait decades to see Logan don the cowl. That at least makes it more impactful, I think. The folks who designed both costumes absolutely nailed it though
@cleverusername9369 valid point about the long wait for the yellow. It was the perfect time to use it. Too soon or poorly executed it would have been cheesy, I was happy they didn't use his yellow suit for the first x-men films. It had to be more realistic then. Deadpool was the right movie to use it, he has more of an authentic comic book vibe.
@@rage2476 completely agree, DP&W was the perfect time to debut the classic Wolverine suit. They absolutely got it perfectly right, and shout out to Hugh for fuckin BRINGING IT in this movie, that was imho his best Wolverine ever. What a legend.
Iron Man YES because he kicked off the MCU...buuut WOLVERINE because of the ENORMOUS fan demand , anticipation, & popularity of this character @@rage2476
They did such an incredible job with the mask as well. Wolverines mask has been my favorite in any character in any intellectual property. Great job, guys!
It looks weird from pretty much every angle except straight on the front or side, though. The weird shapes just always look like the two sides are not the same. Still, kickass costume.
the moment Wolverine pulls the mask down was one of the most hype movie moments I had in the last years. the costume design was on point and the comic accuracy long over due.
As a cosplayer who's trying to adapt a superhero outfit rn, this Wolverine suit is incredibly inspiring and FCKING INTIMIDATING at the same time
Soooooo much detail. Both visually and from a functional standpoint!
It was awful. CGI isn't impressive
Finally great reference for painting up the wear marks on a Wolverine cowl.
Thx a million!
👍 👍
One of the best and most beautiful suits in CBM! Everyone who worked on it deserves a lot of respect and love among the fans.
They did such an amazing job on this costume. I've been a Wolverine fanboy since the late 80s when I first started reading comics, so seeing Hugh finally wearing a true Wolverine (multiple, actually) costume, was a dream come true.
Also, that montage of Wolverine variants didn't need to happen, but it was magnificent. Seeing the brown suit, AoA, Patch... Good Lord, what amazing fan service. They did, in one movie, what 20 years worth of movies couldn't, and it was almost overwhelming.
This is so fantastic, thanks for taking us through it. I love how respectful and generous they are of the fans who will be recreating it.❤❤❤
would love to see an extended coda to this about all the other versions of Wolverine we see. What went into those costumes, how close did they want to get to the comics, etc
Thank you for giving us this up close look at Wolverine’s suit. It looks even better having seen all the detailed craftsmanship that went into this build. Congrats to the entire crew that put this together, we Love it.
Awesome that at least one aspect of the suit was made in Canada! 🇨🇦
@15:57 Jeff and his team at Jitterbug Boy are amazing shoemakers. Based in Toronto. They have worked on some incredible projects.
Great great video. Shout out to the camera man for the absolutely FANTASTIC closeup footage. We need MORE of this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Adam knew cosplayers would be taking notes from this video LOL
The craftsmanship, detail and design is impeccable! It’s amazing just how amazing this translated to on screen💯 Loved the movie!
That comment about how you notice all the imperfections oh my goodness we are worst critics aren’t we? I see all kinds in perfection and the things that I make and nobody else noticed him, but I sure do that was cool to hear. Thank you Adam for asking that.
😎U have no idea how long fans and nerds have waited 4 Hugh Jackman 2 wear the comic accurate uniform, the dude looked absolutely awesome in it😎
The costume looks so cool
This stuff absolutely fascinates me as a comic book collector!!! I love seeing how changes are made from page to real life.
I actually teared up a bit in the theatre when he put the cowl on. 😂
I love these videos where you show us the costumes, behind the scenes videos don’t get enough time or close enough
That was an insanely informative video, absolutely loved these folks involved with the costuming. Adam's genuine love for it also just makes it more fun to watch... and damn, does Ryan Reynolds somehow pull off a shoutout in EVERYTHING he's associated with? Dang.
Adam is so good at explaining the making of things in an interesting and engaging way, it's easy to forget that not all makers have the same gift of gab.
they finally did it, and i appreciate it verily. waited so long for this and the brown suit, they nailed both.
0:25 bro said last year like he was in 2025
Lol
I think they made the costume last year
they were filming in 2023
I'm thinking he meant "in the last year". That, or he was just too excited to be standing in front of that suit.
He either ment it as in "the last year", or they expected this video to release in 2025.
I think they nailed it. Classic look but with the modern touches. I never used to mind his jacket and jeans look because i didn't know if the yellow would translate well to a movie. It did. So glad hugh came back at least one final time.
The costume looks incredible, the people who made it deserve all the best!
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I love the character and this suit is amazing. But I almost wish they would have done the brown and yellow version. I always loved that one.
The team that made these suits are badass!!!
Another triumph for MARVEL as they nailed this particular characters costume so flawlessly retro! - Well done team!
Imagine being a part of making this!? Epic.
After waiting so many years to see this suit in live action, they nailed it!!!! Great job team! I want to see the other Wolverine suits and Deadpool!
Thanks for childhood, Adam!Greetings from Kazakhstan,Almaty! I was raised on "Mythbusters"! Your pure energy about geek culture is fantastic!
My friend helped make this costume. Now we need a Deadpool suit video!
💛🤞🏻🤞🏻❤️
Superb. One of the all time greatest superhero costumes.
Absolutely marvelous costume and gotta love The Bandit pic on the wall! You looked badass in with the face plate on too!🤘
Hugh pulling down the mask, and the deadpools fight after, was the best part of the movie that everyone will remember.
Spectacular walk through, Adam. I love how enthusiastic you are for this sort of thing. Love this suit. It’s on my wish list of things to make. Well, my own version at least. This is a masterpiece. Thanks for doing this. Now I have to bounce back to part two of your velociraptor video. Cheers!
These craftspeople created something amazing!
Gota say, Adam's chin and goatee looks pretty good in the cowl. Old Man Logan.
I'm so grateful to see this up close. I really wish they also shared the type of fabric they used and got a 360 close up of the suit.
0:23 "Last year"? Are you living in the future Adam or did you film this video to be released next year?
probably just last year relative to when it was made
Ryan posted the video on Sep 28 2022 about the movie. Then I assume the production and costumes and stuff were being made during the whole 2023.
Right!
He wasn't wrong. Production started in 2022-2023.
I wanted to say the same.
But the production process was indeed last year.
I love how they did the cowl. Damn it was amazing when he put it on
Thank you this was a great treat to see the process. 👍🏽
I mite being out on a limb! But ! Finally getting Wolverine’s suit in a movie mite be the best moment in comic book movies ever ! Ever ! That’s just me.. thank you for your service
I like that Adam asked who else should be credited/thanked for their work on the costume.
What an incredible build! Thank you all for the amazing breakdown.
When I was a kid I never really liked the blue and yellow suit because I thought it looked ridiculous. But now that I see it in this style, it looks so perfect that it makes me angry they didn’t use it in all of the past X-Men films.
Blame the director who wanted all the suits to be black because The Matrix had come out the previous year and the hottest thing to wear in 2000 was all black.
Honestly I don’t think it would have worked. There was still this idea at the time that comic costumes had to be BRIGHT colors rather than the subdued colors that Spider-Man and the early MCU films pushed instead. Look at
Christopher Reeves’ Superman costume compared to Brandon Routh’s in Superman Returns (which also was directed by Bryan Singer)
@@TonyTylerDraws I think it's all down to the design. The X-Men movie costumes definitely worked, specifically because they made them look more like a unified group... but looking at this design? No, this would absolutely have worked as well.
@@NyergudsI agree, as in the comics (pre 2000s), they all had their own costume designs, but still worked as a cohesive unit, without compromising their individuality.
@@simplysteve68 Of course, early comic designs were based on individual superheroes doing their thing, with the occasional cooperation. The X-Men were quite different in that aspect, being a group from the start, and not all originating in their own comic. So in that regard, there wasn't really any need for the wildly varying suits, but they got them just because that's how superheroes had always been done.
Is Wolverine's costume the most successfully adapted costume of all time? Something that shouldn't look good in live action, making it believable and an absolute masterpiece.
Honestly, throughout the entire movie, Wolverine was easily the best part
that costume is phenomenal
DP&W better win an Oscar for Best Costumes.
This is one of my favourite suits of all time and seeing the breakdown of it and in depth look is so cool, much love LFG
Best suit in Marvel and superhero history
*WE WANT TO SEE ALL OF THOSE SUIT VARIATIONS!* 😭
such a gorgeous suit. can’t believe they finally went full comic-accurate with it.
Wish he kept the shoulder pads when the sleeves got torn off,
but still really cool looking adaptation
I 💯 agree.
lmao, Hugh Jackman getting the suit ripped off for blatant fanservice. That was hilarious.
They tried to keep them but it looked odd on film, so they had to go.
@@hothotheat3000 ah thx, it happens
The amount of details is insane !
Great video, thanks !
I totally thought the eyes on the cowl were CGI. Then I saw behind the scenes, and saw they were there. This suit is amazing!
FBFX ARE THE BEST COSTUMERS IN THE WORLD
This suit is so beautiful i am so happy we finally seen the yellow suit
Professional costuming has become such an interesting space with the accessibility of technology. While I embrace as much as I can, it's SO easy to go overboard with details to the point where you have to start going back to modesty for the sake of being able to produce it, even with the best tools available in your repertoire. 3D scanning, modeling, printing, 3d CNC carving, etc. It's more approachable to bang out incredible parts, while at the same time, having to reign in some of that when it comes to molding and making copies.
The wolvie suit looks modest but functional and still does everything it needs to for portraying an interpretation of a classic scheme.
Thank you for this video, as well as the Moon Knight vid as well-rhay are a godsend for cosplayers like myself! We need a channel like this for all movie wardrobe! Now excuse me, gotta go work on Wolverine's soft parts now.
It looks incredible, especially the side profile shots of the cowl. Fantastic work!
I always love his energy, just like I would ask questions
This outfit was worth the wait! I am so glad Marvel/Kevin Feigie and Ryan Reynolds were the ones to bring it to life. And to put it on Hugh.
TheRPF needs more views of those gloves!
“Nice pajamas. That only took 20 f**king years”
Like Deadpool said: "It only took 20 f*ckin' years," but DAMN was it worth it!! Not to mention it's ACTUALLY THERE! Let's pray Spider-Man gets the same treatment with that finale suit from the end of NWH
11:11 Really is a 3D scan of Hugh's face. I wonder if the lower parts are modeled like a Ken doll 😅
She made a point to mention how stretchy the material was with a crotch shot to boot 😂
@@jtPrime It's a real fly!
Should be noted artists are a big part of making the design in concept and these great costume makers make it work practically
Oh man that is so freaking cool. Im 44 and feel like im 10 again watching this (and the movie)
That comic accurate suit sure took really long to envision to live-action. But totally worth it! It looks so freakin badass!
Beautiful.
So challenging to create a costume that both incapsulates the original comic-book and also allows the freedom of movement needed to film multiple takes of action/fight scenes. That costume would need to be as durable as a pair of Levis to withstand the rigors of filming. Amazing work!
The quality of Wolverine costumes are about to x10
Incredible workmanship !!! Bravo !!!
Adam Savage is back, should be a super hero
So good to see the whole suit in its full glory!
Adam got to walk through prob the 2 coolest suits ever made for Marvel Wolverine and Moon Knight... So damn awesome. Also that girl is adorable I could prob listen to her all day. 😁
I'd adore if Tested could do a video like this with the crew that made the most recent Batman suit!
This costume is everything the Fan has ever dreamed of
Really nice seeing my comic book come to life!
@tested I’d like to see a video of Deadpool’s suit also from Deadpool and Wolverine
For anyone who couldn't catch the boot maker's name, it's Jettribe
The suit is just a piece of art, man. And despite the fact that it is based on 2004 Astonishing Wolverine and not on 1975 or 1993 Classic Wolverine, I still love it. It looks amazing. My only problem is that, they didn't kept the shoulder pads after that car fight scene. Because we all know that Wolverine always had them on his suit, so seen him after that without shoulder pads is kinda surprising but still, the suit is great. Now I wonder who did that yellow and brown suit that we see in that short scene in the movie. Because that one is great in it's own way.
I am kinda glad that it took so long for the yellow costume to be on screen so it would look like this and not ehat we sometimes got on the first movies
amazing work as always FB. Miss you all!
