I love your nail polish color. Also, TY for arthritis tip. :)
One is never too old for crazy nail polish I have found ;-)
I was trying this method, I had to come back to your tutorials.
thank for sharing and teaching several different ways to paint this style
Welcome 😊
Have you tried Bokeh yet? If you would like more background tutorials try this next: Vignette Watercolor Painting (4 easy ways!) th-cam.com/video/n43ItTdoKKU/w-d-xo.html
I'm on my third attempt at lemon tree branches and need a blurred background. Yours is the first and best video showing this. As you painted in the background I was so mesmerized, I wanted it to go on forever... lol. I love these bokeh techniques you teach.
You are so in tuned to your audiance... arthritis, who else does that? Love you.
Thanks Kathy, until very recently I taught many hundreds of real world students. Many people who take up painting are older or disabled so I am always aware that there are challenges with some techniques.
Thanks Michele. Oooo. I like the adding color to white and adding the opaque effect. I'm trying that one now.🥰
Brilliant!
There's another way that I saw someone else do on their channel (Ellen Crimini). She takes some watery gouache, like the consistency of melted butter, and spatters it on paper that is still a little damp so that the edges blend a little but not so it whooshes out (I know y'all know what I mean by that, LOL). You can't control where the circles go, but you could just let the watery gouache drip off the end of the brush instead of flicking the brush around to get the placement you want, and if you wanted light colors you could just tint the gouache. You can't control the size of the circles either, but it is quick and easy and quite beautiful for things like snowflakes in the distance when you're doing snowfall.
Sounds great, she has an excellent channel :-)
Great ! I really like that you showed the various options; not just one way.
Glad you like them!
Love this technique! I can’t wait to try it out.
aaah Michele I do ove your bokah effects, I am keen to practice your tips. You are so inspiring….giving me the confidence to attempt this.grateful thanks 😊❤
Very useful and insightful. I have always lifted colour out, never thought of adding white and tints. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you. Hadn't heard of this technique before. Very interesting and I will try it.
Have fun!
Great video Michelle. Thank you. X
You are such a great teacher! Thank you!
Ah thanks!
This is great. Thanks Michelle - never seen this before - must give it a go....
I really appreciated this video, as I have wanted to try bokeh, but many others seem t assume I am ready know how. But you are clear an precise. Thanks!!
Great to hear!
Love this technique.
I used a metal knitting needle gauge ruler as a substitute stencil. I used damp paper towel or a damp brush to lift the paint.
Great tip!
I love bokeh! It is fun to layer.
It is!
Lovely! Thanks for sharing all the techniques. Will wait to see a glimpse of the complete painting 😊
My pleasure 😊
Thanks, Michele! Great tutorial!
Glad it was helpful!
This is so cool! Thanks for showing how to do this. I am going to give it a try. 🎨🌸
Have fun!
This was just great! Thank you soooo much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very very very good teacher!!!!
Thank you! 😃
Four bokeh techniques in one video is very helpful. Thank you!
No problem!
Just love this technique. Have never tried it before, but you make it look like so much fun. And the results are really beautiful. I think I'll give it a go. TFS
More comments ✅ you certainly deserve it. Great information to be found in your videos.
Much appreciated!
Pretty fun technique
Love the cotton bud and cotton pad technique!
I use several sizes of stencil brushes and they work great. They can be rough on the paper if used too aggressively.
Ah, you might want to try a make up brush, they are inexpensive and so soft.
Thank you for another wonderful lesson. The painting is lovely! I will be looking forward to your next video!
Thank you very much!
Very interesting and I can't wait to see it finished!
Hope you like it!
I do love your techniques Michele….Yes, I do like the bokeh effects….thank you for your tutorials…..and i will be using /practicing these- I prefer to gently lift the damp pigment or use the white paint….🐈⬛🐾🐾🦄🩷
Wonderful!
Deat Michelle, this was soooo helpful! Thank you for giving us so many options for doing bokeh...just love the light coloured ones! I love your tips, they are always to the point and most helpful.
Keep well and warm.
Thanks Veronica, you too!
Love these techniques thank you
Glad you like them!
Great options! I have only seen the use of wadded up paper towel to lift color.
Glad it was helpful!
Great techniques. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Thank you cool technique!
So helpful!thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Perfect explainations as usual! Thanks for reminding me about keeping the tools damp and NOT wet when removing, I've done that mistake before. Also, just learned the valuable tip to paint in sections and keep that edge wet. I've made mistakes when wetting the entire paper at once with paint, then rushing because the circles take time....great advice.
Glad to help!
Glad you you did this little video,I've been having a go at Bokeh lately x I've really enjoyed
Seeing what your doin with it.
Thanks very much Michelle.
Thanks for watching Rosemary!
Thx as always Michele for a nice video full of techniques. 🥰
Thanks for watching!
I'm finding your videos extremely helpful. Thank you!
I always wanted to know how to do this. I loved your explanations of the different ways. Great job. I can't wait to see finished flower on top.
Thank you so much! The flower video is up, if you go to my channel and click 'Videos' you will see most recent uploads :-)
A new technique to try.. I love the effect, thankyou Michelle 😀
No problem!
I have tried it but your techniques are a definite “must try.”
Thank you!
SO COOL! thanks!
No problem!
Absolutely loved this and im going to give it a go I have only tryed watercolour once total disaster as they say keep trying i have trouble getting them to blend into next the next colour
Janet check out my wet on wet tutorial, you will find it in my watercolor tips and techniques playlist I think. The blended edges video may help you to.
I love the idea of the colors in it. With the white I think I either don’t do enough circles or I am doing too much of a pattern instead of random. It almost looks like polka dots. I need to practice more. 😂
It's very common, the human brain likes order. Try not to overthink is what I do :-)
I’ve not been getting notifications from your channel. I’ve missed seeing you!
Ah thanks Faye, same happens to me, I watch channels and they disappear and then reappear months later it's a thing TH-cam does it seems!
I like the one in the upper right hand corner where they look like they're overlapped a little bit. I don't know why, it just does something to me lol.
Instead of using brushes for masking, I use ones that have silicone at the top (instead of the brush hair - they're used for pottery) - they're cheap and you can get the pinpoint application or a wider application of the masking fluid - then you can just rub the masking fluid off and reuse as it doesn't ruin them. Much better than trying to clean that off brushes or ruining a brush.
Yes I have some of those sillicone tools, personally I prefer the firmer point of the ruling pen but it's all about what suits you.
@@IntheStudiowithMicheleWebber True and it's always good to try all you can to find what suits you.
thank you, although it's not my favorite style, you explain it well
You're welcome 😊
Thanks for sharing this with us and explaining this technique with the various reasons for using it. I am just amazed by the various ways of achieving this technique. Also thanks for reminding me about the two types of white paint (Chinese and Titanium), since I have both in my palette.
No problem Colleen!
Wow, right on time! Thank you! I am seeing everyone doing it now and wanting to give it a go myself, ideally without too much of a failure :D This is super helpful. Also, I was thinking, are there any less known/forgotten techniques to play with? Or maybe just watching a video about them would be great, because I expect some historic technique may be even dangerous for ones health :D
Thanks for the suggestion!
Enjoyed this video...mikelle art mom🎨✍
Thank you so much 😀
When will the next video of painting the flower be out?
Next Thursday Denise, at 5pm UK time :-)
You’re so funny. I’m glad I already have a fancy stencil and don’t live in the middle of nowhere . Amazon has the circle stencils.
Is it possible that you can show us how to paint a Lotus Lilly?
Nice idea, noted!
What is that interesting tool for applying masking fluid called?
It's a ruling pen, there are some links in the video discription :-)
Hi
Being relatively new to art, I'm wondering (even before the this video) if this is a fad. Is this going to 'date' my paintings as being from the '20s? Regardless, it's beautiful. I'm giving it a go. Ty for this and the next tutorial :)
There are lots of fads, like splattering, I feel they don't date your painting if you do them intentionally and not just shove them on every subject :-)
