  • This was my very first trip up to the famous Tuckerman Ravine! It was a gorgeous May 1st, 60 degrees out, and finally had the free time to make it up to check this juicy ravine out with my own eyes. At 33 and only living an hour from Tucks, how the freak have I not been up here? Well, my mom finally gave me the ok and Im glad she did, cuz hot dam is it an amazing experience. Off the bat, I am not a "SICK" rider so dont expect a crazy run, but the hike, the hangs, the whole experience is something that anyone in the ski/board life should do once in their life! Dont make excuses because today could be our last day. Live life, be yourself and have fun! O....also subscribe my butt monkeys.

    You started that late - 9 o'clock - at the parking lot??? You need to be there and hiking by 7am at the latest!
    But you are correct - Tucks, even on a bad weather day, is an experience you will never forget. It's just sad that there was so little snow on your day there.

      Ya I know it. I woulda been there earlier if it wasn't for the buddy I went with having his gfs son there. I like to start things early, but I was pumped just to give it a go.

      @@TJ_Wayne As you found, it's an incredible experience, not just from the skiing, but also from the people - a real party atmosphere.
      Try to go earlier in the season next time when the snow is deeper and still covering up all of the brush that you had to contend with. Plan of renting one of the lean tos (make your reservations way ahead of time, and the best time is during the week days)- you won't ever regret the experience!
      Way back when ( 1969), the Ravine had accumulated over 150 feet of snow, with the Lip getting up to about 70 degrees in many places, and a 100 foot with waterfall in the center. Lunch Rocks didn't even start to show up until early May, and not a single rock showed anywhere above the tree line.We were still skiing the Headwall in August!

      @richardpare3538 that's insane. Wish we got the snow we used to get. I definitely want to go earlier in season too.

      @@TJ_Wayne It made for some incredible skiing and a fantastic view from Wildcat.
      That 150 foot year, we were still skiing the Headwall in mid August!
      I'm afraid that snow like that is never going to come again.

      The east coast doesn’t have the elevation or snow totals as out west but it has some great mountains and it’s own charm for sure.. Jay Peak, Stowe, Mad River Glenn, Killington, are some of my favs.

    • @richardpare3538
      @richardpare3538 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Where in the East?
      Depending on you skiing likes, the 2 best mountain to hit in the East are Whiteface in NY (Lake Placid), and Sugarloaf in Maine. Places like Stowe, Jay Peak, Smugglers Notch, and Killington are all great mountains, but Stowe has gotten expensive and crowded, Jay can get rather windy and icy, Smugglers harder to get to, and Killington over crowded.
      Any of the Eastern places are always best mid week when they are now crowded and the lift lines short.

    Been there, done that. Everyone else’s college spring break in FL. My college spring breaks (all four) with permits staying up the mountain doing the bowl and ravines and digging on the lunch rocks. Go big or go home on the steepest in the country
