- Hi guys! Here's a review of the Bachmann Pennsylvania GG1 Electric! Its a nice model with a few discrepancies that I point out but overall a nice model especially for the price.

These GG1s historically ran very much silent. There were many historical recounts of people who were surprised at seeing a GG1 seemingly appear out of thin air due to how quiet and fast they were. Having a decoder that makes no motive power sound unless you press functions is odd to use at first but you quickly get used to it. Soundtraxx specifically made them to work that way for a reason afterall
The mother,and father of the GG-1,were respectively; New Haven,EP-3,and the New York Central P-1a,all 2-C+C-2,and having gone to school in PA,I rode behind them,numerous times! Coming out of Harrisburg,one year,(the Pittsburgh connection, was 2hours late),we arrived in New York,only 20 minutes late! The timetable speeds allowed was 100 MPH,but I think they gave a bit of leeway,if the connection was really held up! Those engines ran like the wind,and that Bamp horn is authentic! Thank you for evoking a few memories! Miss those jobbers,and they were beautiful,as there contemporaries,the NYC,J-3 Hudsons! Thank you! 🚋🚞🚉🚇😇

thanks! Me too, Blackjack looks wonderful, too bad it cant stretch its legs outside.
Honestly, I couldnt tell you, but its pulled every train I've coupled to it! Ultimately I only have a 4x8 layout, so my trains dont go past around 15 full length heavyweight cars, which it can pull with ease.
can the gg1 still run on 18 rr?
yes! although it looks much better on 22"+
I still run Penn-Line GG1s They shorter then scale but they were made to run on 18" radius track they can pul 20 cars and they are over 50 years old, The Bachmann GG1 looks nice but I've had my problems with Bachmann I enjoy your videos Thanks

@@trainman440 Yes they all metal and the early ones had a switch for overhead pickup, when I get my layout fixed up better I will make some videos of Penn-line, A/F Ho and other vintage Ho running Thanks

A 475 pound GG1 could barely pull an empty hopper!
