I feel like when you find the right person it doesnt really feel like work ya know? It'll just be exciting and fun and relaxing, not stressful or annoying lol. Like this may seem counter intuitive, but I've been dating my bf for 4 years and I truly feel more independent and confident with myself now than I did before. Like we just work and made each other better... we both are very independent people though so that why there isnt any codependency bringing me down haha
Agree! My relationship has never felt like a chore or something we really had to work at, it's been so natural and comfortable. It's so nice to be confident in the relationship and it makes us both so happy just existing together.

We’ve been together almost 5 years now and he completely understands that it’s not because I don’t love him, it’s because I’m fricken tired.
Girl, I TOTALLY get the dating dilemma. I was the SAME way. I took time to focus on me and eventually I realized I was ready to find love. I did the same thing you did before I was fully ready. I would talk/agree/not wanna go when the time came. Eventually I started dating more seriously and met my now Fiance! It'll come when you're ready. I'm sure once you sell your house in LA, you'll probably feel more ready. But if not, there is no rush. You're a boss babe doing your thing, you'll know when you're ready.
I love how you are always so grateful for everything. Seriously. Two parents who love you, are still together, have a beautiful home and have always been there for you, have taught you about finances and set you up to win at life no matter what...but you don't let that stop you from working your ass off, blood, sweat and tears, ZERO entitlement (which is rare nowadays) and you are SO grateful along the way. When it comes to online dating, I’ve figured a lot of things out. You have to ask people value based questions to see if they are on the same page as you and want what you want. Let them move through your process and be in charge of how it flows - guys like to rush everything (including the connection)...And very honestly - you are super young and fabulous and it’s way more valuable for young women in their 20s to work on their health, wealth, spirituality, creativity, friendships and family relationships. I love that you are promoting being single as a normal way of life. I feel as though so many people feel that they need to be in a relationship to be whole and that simply is not the truth. Being on your own helps with developing the sense of knowing yourself. Something that is necessary in order to be in a successful relationship. :) I am in a relationship, but everyday is a chance to master the idea of the self and I always value self care and self worth whether I am with someone or on my own. I hope that life brings you a person who values all the parts of you and that when you find that person maybe it occurs in a way that is not what you expected. The best things in life are always a surprise.
soooo freaking cool about the billboard!! to answer the q of the day, i've been in a relationship for the past 5 years and things have actually never been better for us. we've both had a lot of success in our own lives and we're definitely each other's support system but we have a lot to be proud of as a couple too -- we're buying our a new build next year and are stoked to finally have our own space to make ours! relationships thrive on communication, love, acknowledgement and understanding the other person's perspective and although some days we lack in one of those aspects, it doesn't mean the end of the world. we learn something new about the other every few months and that's natural! take as much time as you want to get back into dating Tara!! There shouldn't be a pressure to do that when you are thriving on your own for the time being :)
After you and your parents made plans to see the billboard and you said you still had a date at 7:30, I legit felt like "Cancel that date and go see the billboard instead!" I was single in my 20s and I loved that freedom, no repsonsibility for anyone else. I had my crushes, but that was enough for me! Now that I'm married with kids, I sometimes miss that alone time. Don't rush it.
Glad you are in a good place about not dating. I met my husband when I wasn't looking. We started as friends and went through our worst times while we dated so when we married things were smoother. He passed suddenly in 2001but I wouldn't change a thing I still have our 26 yr old son (my best memory of him). Yours is out there and when the time is right he will be there. (My husband proposed 2 wks after we started dating, I made him wait 3 wks before sleeping together and 3wks for an answer to his proposal). We had 5 yrs of happy married life before he passed. So by not looking I think it makes it easier for love to find you. Good luck

I totally get where you are coming from with the dating situation! I got out of an 8 year relationship in February and a few months later decided to download Hinge. I went on a few dates but I was becoming so happy being single and independent that I stopped going on dates (but kept the app). Then in October I matched with a guy and decided to give him a chance. There was an instant connection and now I can't picture my life without him. Everyone around me would always say I'd find the one for me once I was happy with myself and didn't feel like I needed to search anymore. That's exactly what happened.

Pay attention to those feelings, because getting into a relationship or getting married and not have that time will eventually erode your relationship. I am 62 and I finally learned that lesson. I’m divorced and when I got my own place and lived in my own for the first time I was ecstatic! I didn’t have to meet anyone else’s expectations, I can do what I want, when I want. That was 10 years ago, and I haven’t looked back! I always said the only way.I would be in a relationship now is if we had a duplex and he lived in one side, and I lived in the other! 😂 You are smart and happy and your career is taking off. I've always found it difficult to be interested in dating when I'm in transitional phases of my life. Maybe it's the same for you. Once you're fully settled in Canada and you have a nice routine going maybe your interest in dating will pique again. Until then, I'd say just do you. You might not have the emotional capacity right now to get to know another whole human being.
