It alternates between 3 days and 4 days per reset. To me this means that that is something that GATE has direct control over. Shortcuts opened by the player in Flat Hill, The Night Realm, and Voussoir remain open, but shortcuts in other realms such as Rise, The Train, and Canaan re-lock themselves with every reset. To me, this indicates that not all perforations are created equal. After completing Flat Hill, Marion is gone and Symphonists may spawn. After completing The Night Realm, the shade of "Dr. Cahn" is no longer present. After completing Voussoir, the yeti is no longer confined to its cave. These fixed points that the portal realms snap back to (depending on the portal) are not as concrete as they seem at first...
@@literatemax Yeah, there is some kind of unknown property to alot of the perforations, especially the earth ones. But in the case of flathill, marion either followed us through the perforation to cascade or the anteverse 1 perforations that opened after we removed all 3 cells. The removal of the 3 cells is what allowed symphonist to spawn, I think. Why we see them when we open flathills perforation and presumably start the loop for the first time .. no idea.
I think the big misunderstanding is that the anteverses themselves reset. They don't actually, the perforation _destination_ resets. In short, from my understanding, perforations create a passage to a point in both time and space, and after 72 hours the perforation _itself_ is what resets, its destination returning to its original time-space "location" at the start of the "loop". But the _anteverse itself_ never reset, you just never traveled through and looted it this time. How this accounts for persisting changes made and such i've no idea, but manse did say the perforation-tech violated several scientific principles. So maybe that's part of it. Earth perforations are indeed a mystery though. Especially as day-night cycles seems to be absent (at least for now). Hopefully we'll get some answers down the line though. Perhaps from an outside perspective after the 72 hour period elapsed the perforation would just appear to spontaneously close? We can't know, the only way we can get there is through the perforations after all. So we have no alternate way to be present at the other side when the perforations reset.
@@fallatiuso The earth portals are an especially huge headache to try to explain, maybe they collectively exist in an alternate dimension who knows. Further explanation on these would be great
A little late to the party, but it could be something related to quantum physics and superpositioning. Particles can be at two instances at the same time until an outside observer collapses the superposition and the particle assumes one instance. For example, when the perforation at Voussoir was made, our Earth assumes two supepositions one where things went on as normal and another where the portal is opened, and the two positions run in parallel, the perforation portal being the outside observer that can collapse the superposition, and what is abnormal for GATE is the fact that when portals stay opened for too long time tethering occurs naturally as a sort of failsafe to keep the universe's superpositioning from collapsing via temporal loop.
our current understanding of topics like space time is based upon postulates, information that is assumed to be true, so it could be the case that our current understanding of space time stuff is wrong and how AF represents perforation travel is a universal mechanic that applies to any form of "portals". Another point of note is that perforation tech is essentially a form of FTL travel, with all the time implications that come with it, and that the "resets" is a mechanism time travel implications that come with FTL. any way you look at it its a smart mechanic to allow for the long term collection of resources and still have sacristy in the main facility. excellent vid btw

Ah, you've noticed the independent variables too.
