So I'm based in the UK. Will the Vivo X100 Ultra (aka pro +) only be realised in china? Do you know much about it as I'm looking for a new phone but might wait until this phone comes out? I'm not a Samsung person anymore as the Warranties are voided for any reason. Any minor scratch or wear and tear, voids the warranty.
Hoping to see what the s24 ultra will have, because i feel that this vivo chip is doing some amazing stuff combined with the natural color tuned by Zeiss If the S24U comes with a 5x and a 10x i will be switching from my S22U
Thanks for the awesome review Chris! As always, on point. Now waiting for Oppo Find X7 and Honor Magic 6 series in January. I think only Oppo can beat Vivo in terms of camera performance. But if there is no global version as for Find X6 series, then it would be such a shame.
@@Techtablets Oppo Find X7 series coming officially on 8th of January (just read the info). Looking forward to your review Chris once units are available!
@@kimnorberg9783 Yes Vivo X100 Pro +, as well as Xiaomi 14 Ultra. But they will not be on the market any time soon. Oppo and Honor are just around the corner.
3:54 The fingerprint reader should definitely be further up closer to the middle of the screen as you've highlighted at this point in Vivo review. 19:44 I do agree that Vivo have made a solid camera design, I can see a bright future for Vivo. 😎💯💪🏿💪🏿👍🏿 13:34 The viewing quality is just crystal clear, bright and detailed.
Peak brightness is what the screen should be able to do when playing HDR video, something like 10 % of the screen. The maximum brightness when set to auto brightness is typically lower than peak ( and its a more useful number )but they'll cite peak because its a bigger number, and therefore better for marketing
Battery or standby is probably cause MTK uses all power cores and no efficiency cores. Better performance, not better battery life. Still decent if you don't scramble to use your phones 24/7. Overall I think this a solid phone. I agree with Ben that it's a great stills camera with solid video. I just hope it'll be flat one day. Or have similar screen as the Xiaomi 14 Pro. Otherwise, a great flagship phones unless the Pro+ models decided to go global too 👏🏻
Yes top phone for photos and still very good video. A flat screen would be nicer and the standby battery use should be better I agree. But in normal kinda use I don't find the battery bad at all it's still going to need a charge each night but will make it through a day.
@@Techtablets yeah battery life is alright if you don't push it hard all the time. Thanks for more excellent reviews. Can't wait to see more from you. And from Vivo too
No such thing as efficiency cores anymore the big cores are more efficient at lower clocks than the "efficiency" ones running at max clocks Rip efficiency cores that era is done with
Need some optimization for it i think..since it does not come with efficiency cores Android system need/can be operated fully just using those big cores..and disable the X cores and enable it only for some heavy task like gaming..if just normal use using only the big cores should be enough..Android system as for now still keep using all cores even when idle or doing light task..
hey chris amazing vid as always. A suggestion, since you've got a phone from a lot of the android manufacturers can you do a comparison between the features of the OSs and their skins? Like your experience using the phone, your favourite features and the cons of those skins? For example Xiaomi and Oneplus like to overheat and throttle, Xiaomi has slow updates and has problems with launchers, etc. I'm using an S22U SD and I've been using Samsung phones from the start, I just loved their feature set. For example my currently most used features are the swipe down in the home screen anywhere to bring down the control center, the swipe down in the middle bottom portion to make the screen small and get one handed mode and the ability to quickly switch the default function for the sims from the control center or change the device output. I also really really love the gallery app, got a lot of albums organised and chose which ones to be "essential" and always show, the video app in Samsung phones is imo the most Apple like experience I've ever had on a phone, like the way people describe Apple phones and their experience, it is completely hassle free and just works for me unless I'm doing super niche things which I didn't expect it to do. Finally the Samsung Notes app is also another banger, really lovely to just use and have many folders and sub folders and then colour coordinate them. Aside from the apps, the app library thingy you get when you swipe up from the home screen is also something I truly love. I can organise it to my heart's content with folders and color code them as well. Also the good lock apps allow me to soften the Camera's image, disable hdr for the cam, change how the "recent" apps screen looks, how many steps the volume slider has and the number of apps in a folder, home or the app library place. These are the features I stick to Samsung for, if other brands can do the same I'd be able to switch without any worries. Thanks for reading and any help is appreciated.
I love Samsung but they havent changed since the S21 Ultra. Vivo with a 1 inch sensor and the Vivo X100 Pro Plus rumoured to have a 200MP telephoto lens Samsung will really have to step up their game.
An excellent review as always. I've been following this channel for quite a while alongside mrwhosetheboss and mkbhd. Just sad to see the channel's growth hasn't been the best although I think it has more substance. I guess people like to be entertained more instead of getting more facts.
Thanks for your support. It is what it is, sub count doesn't really many anything anymore it's more views. I think it could be that and because I review a large range of tech not just phones.
Yes but Chris gives you accurate true honest opinions and testing..... Unlike mrwhosetheboss & mkbhd who are firmly in the pockets of Apple & Google and do as they're told by them.

If performance drops so much it is not way better than my old Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G with Snapdragon 865 😁. Chris Sir what do you say? Snapdragon 865 is greatly optimised for OS and Apps and everything works very smoothly. No glitch at all.
Is not about optimisation is about the heat output. CPU are faster and more power hungry leading to more heat. At some point I thing that all phones will need to have an active CPU cooler like we have in PC.
@@sirab3ee198 No you are not correct. It is really about CPU-Software Optimization. Other than CPU's raw performance, both how well OS and Apps are able to utilize the CPU to perform tasks and also how efficient the Apps work matters, and is more important than raw CPU performance itself. For example, years back snapdragon 625 was a budget chip which was really efficient and was overused by OEMs but this led to it being optimized so well it was very capable despite not being a powerhouse. Same with Snapdragon 865, the 2020 Qualcomm flagship chip. Newer and very expensive chips which throttle quickly and for which OS and Apps are not tried and tested and optimized in real life usage will contrary to expectations fail to greatly outperform older and cheaper processors. The money saved can be used to buy quality paid apps which will give better overall performance and functionality.
Like most phone manufacturers leaning towards "The Flat Screen" era, yet Vivo here, doing its path with the Curved screens... For me, been using all the Flat screens for more than a decade, so this is nice to see... I'm eyeing for this one 😍😍
Looks very impressive for sure, but kind of wish it wasn't using that dated curved display design, looks like a phone from 2018 or something. As usual lack of 4K is always ridiculous, but maybe they are saving that for the Pro Plus? Also very annoying that the china version with originOS doesnt support LTE band 20, as the prices ive seen are amazing. Not seen the international version with FuntouchOS for sale anywhere as of yet.
Have it a few weeks. The camera wows me very often. Really good. The fingerprintsensor is good but i still miss the insane 3D ultrasonic one. Zeiss lense is also something. You cant go back to another phone after you are used to zeiss. SO CLEAN. Bought it directly in china. 630 euros... whereas the iPhone 15 Pro Max 1449 euros here and the 5x Lense there just disappoints me.
And it doesn't even use the latest SONY Lytia 900 (1") sensor. If in Europe this phone had the Chinese price range, would be a super bargain! Brava Vivo, because they are trying each and every year to improve the image quality of their phones. Some people say the Chinese version of the OS (Origin OS 4) is way better than the international version. I do like the phone. Too bad for the ultra-wide camera not so wide, too bad it's not flat, too bad it does throttle, but it's a damn good phone. Well done, Vivo and well done review, Chris!
Can you do a software walkthrough? Thinking of buying in the US and I've never seen the OS on a normal day to day type use case. What features does it have or is it missing?
Kudos for another exemplary review Chris! However I like my screens unblemished. Do you have any plans on reviewing the Sony Xperia V generation phones ( and especially the Xperia 5 V) with the Android 14 update? Most, if not all, reviews I could find for these smartpones were based on Android 13 performance. I wonder if Sony managed to finally fix camera overheating issues on 1 V and 5 V. Thank you.
Thanks for watching. Yes I prefer flat and no notch but dispute the curved screen the PWM of 2160hz and that brightness is very useful. I did have one of the Xperia's unfortunately I had to return it due to over heating. It would not shoot more than 3 minutes of footage without overheating.
@@TechtabletsThanks a lot for your response. According to users in the field, there are no overheating issues after the update to Android 14. However, there are no reviews or tests I can rely on on that front.
I'm probably going for the Vivo X100 Pro but not sure which one, I can get the newer X100s Pro for the same price but they kicked out the blue color... Does the X100s Pro give enough extra to forget about the blue X100 Pro? Could it be that the X100s Pro gets warmer cause of the clocked procesor?
Not sure how a Pro Plus model will top this one other than giving the main camera variable aperture, for example. This one's going into my shortlist for my next upgrade
I believe it might have 2 periscope zoom lenses lol at least the oppo find X 7 is going to have 2 so they might do the same. Crazy good hardware in these phones now
It's going to have new sensors for every focal length. New main camera (LYT 900), new UW and a new 200mp periscope camera. Aside from the camera it will also have a 2k screen and the 8 Gen 3 instead of the Mediatek
@Techtablets thanks for the thorough and great (as always) review. One thing I always find is missing me in phone reviews is mentioning if the phone has a native call recorder or not, and also if third party call recording apps work on it properly. It's one of the most important featurea to me in a phone and a main consideration for me to either buy it or not. Can you tell if the phone has call recording support? If so, is it with the notification tone at the start or not? If not, can you test some third party call recording apps and tell if both sides are being recorded constantly? Again, thanks for the great review 😊
Brightness is nothing, but flicker-free display is everything. Chris, I know this may sound stupid, but could you have a separate throttle test with 60hz and 1080p and power saving(or any setting that limits CPU\GPU to 70%)? That could be useful to anyone... who actually uses their device... Because seeing a 50-70% throttle anyway is kind of pointless, all these new chips still perform like 2-3 year old models.
Hey! Good review, I like it how you tackle them, cause they are quite thorough! Couple of questions though: 1) How did you get one? Is there an official distribution in EU? I'd like to buy it but it has to go global version and shipped fro EU but so far i haven't found it shipping to Poland. 2) how does it look for Vivo and it's FunTouch Os (lol) in regards to updates? Do they release the security patches regularly? Do they promise anything in terms of Android version updates? Thanks Man!
I also can find the rumors about this phone is being sold in EU, but I don't find it actually anywhere. Even on AliExpress they have only CN versions so far. I guess they first sent the global versions to reviewers and just after that they will release this. We need to wait then, but my P30 Pro is starting to beg for a replacement 😅
Yes I wish I got that blue but oh well black it is. But an awesome phone. can't wait to see what the X100 Pro+ Or X100 Ultra will be like. It's rumored they might call it the Ultra now like Xiaomi does.
They do offer a lot of updates and later camera tweaks I got many with my X90 Pro+ I had and the X90 Pro. Plus I remember 1 update for this or maybe it was 2. So fine.
Excellent review Chris loved the camera comparison as well. Do you have any idea how much this will cost in Europe? Im seeing they are only releasing one version here the 512GB version which is great for consumers as long as it isn't too expensive lol
The peak brightness of 3k nits is only for HDR contents where some darker locations in the display will have much higher brightness, not the whole display.
1) Is the band-20 the only band changed from the China variant? 2) Does Android Auto work on the Global EU version without the hack? Thanks and awesome review!
Will you try the Iqoo 12 ? Same ultrawide and telephoto lenses (JN1 and OV64B) but an inferior main sensor (OV50H vs IMX 989) and no Zeiss coating. But at 607€ it's clearly cheaper.
This is a dream phone for someone who likes to take photos a lot!! Esp at night... No more terrible shots 😩😩 Btw, will u be reviewing the non-Pro version as well? Hopefully the main cam will be nearly as good!
My man, I don't think S24 Ultra got it. That 200MP main sensor with the smallest pixels in the industry will drag it down in many aspects like slow shutter speeds and long processing times, long night mode exposure times and poor video. S24 Ultra may be great in every way but that main sensor.
I feel the same way if they are going to use it again then this IMX989 I think will better it. But lets wait and see what happens they might have some tricks to help it.
I am a person who does not use the front video so not an issue. My biggest grip is the chipset that does not support a 2k screen. This is a massive negative given the camera quality. If they nring out an ultra version with a Snapdragon chip in China with the nee sensor fron Sony I would wait. You should get the band 20 on origin os better software for the same price. You will get a better screen as well. If they then good make all the kits and add ons plus other service add ons watches etc work in English at least they could rival Samsung to more than a niche narket.
I do think, however, this phone needs to support the 3GPP NR LTE and 5G frequency ranges used in the USA, especially the 600 MHz LTE and 5G bands used by T-Mobile US in most of the more northern states in the continental USA.
I'm thrown between Vivo x100 Pro and HONOR Magic5 Pro. I've seen many good photos from Honor, but the video seems to be better on Vivo... I looked at your reviews for both and I'm afraid to take a leap one way or the other.... Do you have an idea? Thank you very much, again, for your honest reviews.
Fun story they said they would send me one to review and then deicide not to. So no plans to buy it seems Nubia doesn't want me to review it for some reason.
After thousands of reviews regarding the placement of the fingerprint scanner, it is disheartening to see other brands continuing the less convenient practice of siting it on a lower button. I don't understand their reasoning, akin to the removal of the 3.5mm jack. Many earbuds suffer from high latency, especially during gaming. Come on, brands, listen to your customers. I am currently using the ZTE Z50s Pro, and the fingerprint placement is too low, leaving me disappointed.
I also find that X100 pro can do PD100W. (I measured 86W), also the charger is also capable of doing 100W. only gripe I have for this phone is the fp position, which is merely to cut cost (because distance is shorter, if you see the teardown and compare it to OnePlus/Realme you can tell.) /distinguish from the Pro+ model, which doesn't even have Qcomm Ultrtasonic but only normal samsung/iQoo12 type ultrasonic, which is not bad but downgrade from last year tbh. I have been happy about X100 pro, but if Find X7Pro/Ultra seem better I will be making the switch.
Actually from what I can see, the selfie video at Full HD is amazingly nice and sharp. To be honest I will be more than happy to use Full HD with that good quality.
I tested an HDR test clip and still couldn't get over 1380 nits under bright lights I'm not sure there must be a way to do it. But still in the sun it's very clear and bright one of the best around.
@@TechtabletsI've seen some chinese reviewers and they could get the 3000 nits using a 10% white patch. For full screen brightness it was around the ~1400 nits as expected
I don't see Galaxy S24 Ultra is "killing" Vivo X100 Pro in terms of main camera performance unless Samsung will do something with images oversharpening issue. It's clearly visible and very noticeable on any computer screen.

Hopefully front 4k camera support, better main camera and wider ultrawide say 13mm instead of 15mm which is fine but should be wider.
@@Techtabletsbetter main camera... You really underestimate this phone, could tell by your review and some of your replies....
Hi, no native phone recording on it. You only get that with Chinese ROMs this is the global one. What app for recording calls?
Brightness is nothing, but flicker-free display is everything.
Chris, I know this may sound stupid, but could you have a separate throttle test with 60hz and 1080p and power saving(or any setting that limits CPU\GPU to 70%)? That could be useful to anyone... who actually uses their device...
Because seeing a 50-70% throttle anyway is kind of pointless, all these new chips still perform like 2-3 year old models.
Just wondering where did you get Global Version of this phone, mate? Your review is fantastic as usual. Thanks
Hey! Good review, I like it how you tackle them, cause they are quite thorough! Couple of questions though:
1) How did you get one? Is there an official distribution in EU? I'd like to buy it but it has to go global version and shipped fro EU but so far i haven't found it shipping to Poland.
2) how does it look for Vivo and it's FunTouch Os (lol) in regards to updates? Do they release the security patches regularly? Do they promise anything in terms of Android version updates?
Thanks Man!
Probably from vivo company directly. There is rumor it will hit EU market, where do you find it shipping to EU?
I also can find the rumors about this phone is being sold in EU, but I don't find it actually anywhere. Even on AliExpress they have only CN versions so far.
I guess they first sent the global versions to reviewers and just after that they will release this. We need to wait then, but my P30 Pro is starting to beg for a replacement 😅
Man, i do love myself some Vivo! Great vid! for the regular version that blue looks stellar!!!
Yes I wish I got that blue but oh well black it is. But an awesome phone. can't wait to see what the X100 Pro+ Or X100 Ultra will be like. It's rumored they might call it the Ultra now like Xiaomi does.
Ultra would make a lot more sense, the pro+ name is a bit odd... And we shall see what they will be doing with that! @@Techtablets
Does make more sense I just hope its' global and not China only yet again. That would suck!
realisticly... I see it not being Global again... @@Techtablets
Hello i have the China Version Of the x100 pro, where can i buy a cable with brick in EU Stile? And can i put funtuch os ti Origin os?
Great review man, btw what is Vivo's track record for updates like? Do they give timely software updates?
They do offer a lot of updates and later camera tweaks I got many with my X90 Pro+ I had and the X90 Pro. Plus I remember 1 update for this or maybe it was 2. So fine.
Does anyone know if this will come to the UK? :(
Excellent review Chris loved the camera comparison as well. Do you have any idea how much this will cost in Europe? Im seeing they are only releasing one version here the 512GB version which is great for consumers as long as it isn't too expensive lol
I paid £900 for mine, Global version 16GB Ram & 512GB Storage delivered
@@smguk2412 where from mate? Does it support band 20? Cheers
Where did you buy the global version with eu charger?
What is the battery wear app you used ?
The peak brightness of 3k nits is only for HDR contents where some darker locations in the display will have much higher brightness, not the whole display.
Great review, hope to get this in the states.
Among OnePlus 12 and vivo x100 (not pro) which one have better cameras?
Thanks for the in depth review! Any tips on how to get it in the UK? I understand there'll be a an upcoming global launch event on 3rd Jan?
Should be released locally early next year. This global model they sent to me.
Perfect, thank you! :)
That top bezel and unsymmetrical bezels are outrageous.
You said this is in the top three for low light photography. Which are the other two in your top three
1) Is the band-20 the only band changed from the China variant?
2) Does Android Auto work on the Global EU version without the hack?
Thanks and awesome review!
Vivo has perfect samples of video and photos!
They are very good yes.
How many screen hours did you get?
Hi mate, where did you buy yours from, and do all Google services work?
Yeah me too I'm searching that, do you found something? 🙏🙏
Not yet!@@oms_fs
The display of the VIVO X100 PRO is FULL HD not 2K resolution!
A very big disappointment!
This Vivo, xiaomi 14, oneplus 12 or magic pro 5?
What would you recommend as best od them?
This X100 Pro.
Will you try the Iqoo 12 ? Same ultrawide and telephoto lenses (JN1 and OV64B) but an inferior main sensor (OV50H vs IMX 989) and no Zeiss coating.
But at 607€ it's clearly cheaper.
Yes reviewed it here th-cam.com/video/qPnAGZei8Wc/w-d-xo.html very good phone one of my favorites of 2023.
How did you get the Global Version?
This is a dream phone for someone who likes to take photos a lot!! Esp at night... No more terrible shots 😩😩
Btw, will u be reviewing the non-Pro version as well? Hopefully the main cam will be nearly as good!
If they send the non Pro I would be happy to review that one and even compare them.
@@Techtablets I do hope they will send it to you :) The non-Pro version will be significantly cheaper and more affordable to many.
But lets wait and see what happens they might have some tricks to help it.
great vid! by the way will you be reviewing the Realme GT5 Pro? yours is the only review i need before buying!
No Realme didn't like my GT3 review being honest about the phone so pulled me as a reviewer. No more units from them, I have no plans to buy it.
@@Techtablets ummmm. i see. your review is the only one i trust so that's gonna be problematic for me lol
Hi, where you bought the global version pls very needed 🙏🙏
Wonda mobile sell the global Hong Kong version
that 1080p face came is damn good. what the point of having terrible 4k camera when you can have 1080p as beautifull as this
exactly
SnapDragon 8 gen 2 is better or Dimensity 9300 ?
Can it kill the P8P in lowlight camera capabilities though
Please sir tell me how to buy this phone please 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Where did you find the global version?
I am a person who does not use the front video so not an issue.
My biggest grip is the chipset that does not support a 2k screen. This is a massive negative given the camera quality.
If they nring out an ultra version with a Snapdragon chip in China with the nee sensor fron Sony I would wait.
You should get the band 20 on origin os better software for the same price. You will get a better screen as well.
If they then good make all the kits and add ons plus other service add ons watches etc work in English at least they could rival Samsung to more than a niche narket.
Will you be reviewing the Nubia Z60 Ultra?
I do think, however, this phone needs to support the 3GPP NR LTE and 5G frequency ranges used in the USA, especially the 600 MHz LTE and 5G bands used by T-Mobile US in most of the more northern states in the continental USA.
How many years of software and security updates will it get?
3 years
Thanks for the wonderful review.
Thanks for watching!
How to buy Vivo X100 Pro if we are from Auckland? Thanks
Vivo is great at photos, okay video but bad mics. The honor good photos but poor video.
@@Techtabletsthank for your very fast responses! Noted! Have a great weekend forward
Where do you buy the global version with european charger? Thanks!
Wonda mobile sell the Hong Kong global version
is dual active sim ?
Hey Chris, Will you Review Nubia Z60 Ultra?
Fun story they said they would send me one to review and then deicide not to. So no plans to buy it seems Nubia doesn't want me to review it for some reason.
9:50 on what app these details can be accessd?
hello, do you think is coming pro plus model?
Yes I think there will be that or they might call it the X100 Ultra.
@Techtablets will be serious challenge...oppo find x7 ultra or Vivo X100 Ultra....2024 will be crazy year :D :D
Is it just me or is that selfie cam bigger than usual? Kind of bothers me actually.
Which bitate in vivo 100 pro?
Where to buy
Can you compare google pixel 8 pro vs iPhone 15 pro and Vivo x100 pro
After thousands of reviews regarding the placement of the fingerprint scanner, it is disheartening to see other brands continuing the less convenient practice of siting it on a lower button. I don't understand their reasoning, akin to the removal of the 3.5mm jack. Many earbuds suffer from high latency, especially during gaming. Come on, brands, listen to your customers. I am currently using the ZTE Z50s Pro, and the fingerprint placement is too low, leaving me disappointed.
Amazing review, hope to buy the global version however I am tempted by the Pro Plus version and Oppo X7 ultra coming next spring.
Pro Plus and Find X7 Pro should be really good, the Kings I think.
@@TechtabletsI've heard oppo is dropping the pro, replaced by ultra. That's what I've heard lately.
4:45 I'm sure those bonkers brightness levels only applies in HDR, play one of those HDR window videos to check it out
Only con on x100 pro that in 1080 60fps or 4k 60 the tele lens doesnt switch. Its crops from main sensor.
S24 Ultra is nickname "Disappointment".
Where's the portrait photo ???men 😭😭😭😭
I also find that X100 pro can do PD100W.
Price is not justifiable for a phone with full hd front facing camera
Yes needs to be 4k!
Actually from what I can see, the selfie video at Full HD is amazingly nice and sharp. To be honest I will be more than happy to use Full HD with that good quality.
Yes the selfie 1080p video is very good.
Maybe the high brightness works only in HDR videos? I think that is what I heard from others.
I like this phone, where did you get the global version?
Vivo sent me this unit.
@@Techtablets do you know when and where it will be sold in Europe?
Next month and it most EU countries. Vivo hasn't give us the exact dates or details however.
So are these cameras better than the x90 pro plus??
Yes they are a slight step up and the zoom is better.
The weather in Spain is amazing. I want to move there, lol
It is yes, it's finally a bit cold now at night.
Why do phones from Chinese companies love to skip minor details, like a better front camera recording capability, a new version of USB and so on?
The front facing camera despite doesn't have 4k looks better than most phones with 4k front camera. At least this one looks natural and steady.
Name the phones.. Because what you just said is bollocks.. The front camera is poor on this phone
@@blacsheep19well it's been updated to 4k so go cry somewhere else 😂😂😂😂
Dove si compra il vivo Global?
It's global yes.
@@Techtablets where can i buy It?
I don't see Galaxy S24 Ultra is "killing" Vivo X100 Pro in terms of main camera performance unless Samsung will do something with images oversharpening issue. It's clearly visible and very noticeable on any computer screen.
Does this have dolby atmos
