    I just bought and iPad this weekend because of this feature. Last time I used GarageBand was in 2017 and to my surprise it has improved A LOT ever since. Thank God they added the '60s songwriter drummer, it's my absolute favourite.

    Maaan. As an ABleton lover..having ditched Logic9system overload lifestyle). Surprisingly happened upon the idea of using grand for a few things. I have been using iPad Pro for live keys for gigs but hadn’t considered production…until yesterday…found you here and you have taken me BEYOND any figment of my imagination with this. Forever changed my pov on gBand on ipad…two finger uses etc..bananas man! Brought my kicks waaay b4 I apply the drive knob….drummer feature I am aiming to test out next

    Drummer is the best feature of Logic and GarageBand! If they did that with guitar, piano, bass...game changer!!!

    A good tip for getting something close to a drumming idea you've already had is to tap out the basic pattern as closely as you can on the manual kit. Then get the drummer of your choice to follow that track and you can adjust from there and mute your manual kit. Or leave it in for some beefyness if it works.

      I do the same! I also add another genre drummer such as a rock style drummer with a latin style drummer on another track, to add extra percussion to the project.

    Something I've wanted Apple to add for some time now would be the ability to add a markers for points of emphasis in a song (say you have a lot of contrapuntal patterns and elements). This would allow you to better and more quickly establish the musical themes of a piece.

    I may have to revisit some of these GB-for-iOS things like the drummer, now that I know how to harvest sounds/tracks from GB into Loopy Pro, Koala… have already done it to some of the Apple loops, so why not the rhythm section as well… 🤔

    Hello! You can map two drum machine pads that I use with Garageband's native drums. The midi cable is working correctly, only some parts have been changed, for example the bass drum has the hi-hat sound. Thanks.

    speaking of logic features, one feature that I'm a bit annoyed that apple doesn't show in GarageBand mac is the ability to move the sound library to some other location. There is a way to get around this though. The garageband and logic sounds are usually stored in the application support folder in the library folder on the start up disk on mac in folders for logic and garageband. All that moving the sound library in logic or main stage does is downloads it to a drive that you choose and creates 2 symbolic links to the folders that exist in the normal location. If you know how to use terminal at all, it's possible to do this manually by copying the 2 folders to what ever location you want them to be in even if it's on an external drive and then use the ln command to create symbolic links to them and all of the apple music performance and production apps will read the sound library from where ever you moved it to as if you used either logic or main stage's features to do this exact process.

      Drums in my projects usually end up being about 3 tracks (1 for the basic pattern, 1 for custom drum breaks entered manually, 1 for custom cymbals since I seldom like the cymbals included in the main kit). Percussion may or may not add another 1 to 2 tracks.

    • @acerbt

      To get all the expressive stuff with things like the high hat while manually controlling the drums, you'd need a midi keyboard with a modulation control for the really advanced open and closed action available at the top end of the keyboard. The really expressive high hat sounds are 4 octaves above the standard 3 high hat sounds on the keyboard.

    The best fearure in Logic is the Autotune. And that you can correct your singing notes manually.

    • @TheGaragebandGuide
      @TheGaragebandGuide  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd disagree. You can get the same functionality from a third party pitch correction plugin. There's nothing else like the Drummer out there.

    I'm an ex pro drummer years back and I still can't make GB drummers do exactly what I want them to do, often there are drum fills where there shouldn't be. Having said that have you heard of the new Yamaha FGDP -50 finger pad type unit you can use with DAWs?

      @@TheGaragebandGuide there was a method recently discovered where if you copy an audio recorder track and a drummer track, then go into a new track, create an audio recorder and a normal drums track, and then paste in the tracks you copied earlier: then the drummer track should now appear like a normal piano roll, and will then be editable. Not sure who originally discovered it, but I saw it in a tutorial forever ago

    Drummer on desktop is better because drum kits are separate from the Drummer, so you can switch the sound without changing the drumming style if you want. Despite this, Apple is so far ahead of their competition in this area it's not even funny.
