I'm the kind of guy who starts using new things by reading the manual first. I thought I knew all important features... Thanks Patrick, absolutely great job!
I know this video you did is old but I’ve subscribed and “liked” my way through your list to include GarageBand and Logic Pro for iPad. Your accent and verbiage is fun to listen to and the information you provide inspires me to jump in and create new music. All that being said, I just wanted to say thank you (this one is so old that you might not ever read it but….)!
The finger on drums and alternative auto play features are excellent hidden features! I’ve been producing on GarageBand since version 1.0 over 10 years ago and I didn’t know about that. Thanks!
Patrick, I just started using GarageBand on my iPad. I have been using it on my desktop. I can’t find where the score is when I’m playing on the iPad. Where is it? I find it very helpful when I’m composing music.
Hi, thanks for the video. I'm using audio technica headphone(2 rings on connection) and into a usb-c convertor, because that is the input on my ipad pro. When I record garageband no sound, any ideas? Cheers Sean
Really good secret tips and tricks Patrick. I only knew about the keyboard labels and about 2 fingers on the autoplay instruments. But 3 fingers and the other stuff? I had no idea. So thanks man! Really informative little video.
This may be a dumb question, but why is the title of your ‘new song’, not in the title bar? Not even a generic title. Is there anyway to change this? So often I’m working on a project and even tho’ I title my songs, I’m not sure which one I’m working on so I have to List by Recent to find out. It would be so much easier if there is/was a way to see the Song Name somewhere (anywhere!) on the GUI…
WHAT I PIANIST!! 😂 Great video and yeah I still have a tear in my eye for Music Memos. Glad I still have it but boy, what I swing and a miss by deleting it. Sigh.
I knew about most of these these features actually. But! The most pitiful fact is that Apple has not yet added the feature to customize the string order! To explain it briefly: virtual guitars in GarageBand have the standard tuning, so E-A-D-G-B-E. I expected it to set string order like from Standard E to, let's say, Drop C (C-G-C-F-A-D). This feature, however, does not exist in GarageBand yet, so it remains to hope that the developers will add it in the nearest feature. By the way, I have one more trick you could add: If you want to mute strings, you need to create a new MIDI region. When entering the region editor, at the bottom, there is an additional line MUTE or something. You can tap on it to create a unit region and adjust its length to what you desire. NB: 1) you need to be in Edit mode; 2) sometimes it is difficult to adjust it, as when attempting to hold either from the left or the right side, it can be accidentally removed; 3) sometimes adding mutes is not possible from the first time, but from x times only. *LIKE*

Nice! I’m glad you found the video useful!
I think two fingers on the kick is how Sabbath came up with the intro to Ironman
Like you said at the beginning, you just blew my mind! 🤯
Interesting and very helpful ! Thank you so much for sharing !
Wow. Making the drums beat faster and slower is good. Just started with GB.

It makes the chord strips so much more useable!
Genuine WTF moment at the ‘Autoplay Alternatives’.
Yeah, it's not an obvious feature, is it?
I’ve been using GarageBand on iOS since 2012 and I just learned this today, wow.

Do custom chords only work on the iPad or can this work on the iPhone? Are these features available on Garage Band on a Mac-Mini too?
Everything on the Mac OS on the iPad os16 GarageBand app?
I did know about these but only because I read the user guide!
Nice! Any other lesser know tips you’d recommend?
@@TheGaragebandGuide I’ll have a think.
The keyboard labels feature is great for novices like me! Nice new drum features too. Great video!!

Amazing! It never occurred to me to give a (Garageband) drummer the two fingers.
😂✌️
Astonishing. Thank you.

Excellent stuff as always Patrick! Great tips and a surgical dig at Apple about Music Memos, love it! 🔥🔥
Cheers Hubbs. They have it coming, I have NO IDEA why they got rid of music memos. Such a useful app!
This was so helpful thanks a lot for this great video it will help me improve my beats even further!
Thanks for watching! 👍
@@TheGaragebandGuide of course liked and subbed!
So goood. 🎉❤!!!
The Additional fingers trick no longer works on the strings which sucks. I've tried everything
Huh… you’re right that’s weird. Hopefully just a bug.
Love it!! So valuable
Glad you found it useful!

I love Apple Music Memos-- sorry to see them discontinue this'
Absolutely, one of my favourite apps

It be nice if I can add my own drum kits.
Hidden gems! Let's go!
Yes!
@@TheGaragebandGuide 🙏🏾
Really curious about the project that shows up in your garage band context menu. Song 47... could it be a JW song?
What’s a JW song? It’s probably just the 47th project I’ve created that hasn’t been given a name.
@@TheGaragebandGuide never mind. We've got religious songs which are numbered from 1 to 158. So it's just my bias 😄
Nice one! thanks Patrick for all the tips and useful info you provide, I always look forward to seeing your videos, really appreciate it :) 👍
Thanks for watching sir, I really appreciate it!

Could you make a video explaining this tip? I didn’t understand very well
Oh man your awesome
Cool 💯💯😎✌️ 🇮🇹
Glad you enjoyed it my friend!

You don’t have to hold down for chords to play
You best
No you
APPLE BRING BACK MUSIC MEMOS!
YES
I love you
Oh I don't know. With your bald head you look enough like a pianist to me. Lol. Couldn't resist. Kidding.
🤯🤯
Still looking for the "replace voice" function on the TH-cam video here.....
?
What’s a point of an intro when the video already has a title?
Just use the time stamps to skip past it if you find it annoying.
Great stuff - thx
Yeah, it’s such a shame that Apple decided to …crush…kill…destroy Music Memo.
The bass lines it came up with to match your recorded guitar were sooooo good, used to import them to GB all the time I miss that app
