I just finished this formula on the same Ral Partha copper dragon figure and I'm delighted with how it turned out. Since there's no paint key in the description, I thought I would add mine which is about 90% Dr. F's recipe shown is these two videos. I did not list the steps Dr. F took and then painted over later. I may edit later once I get back to my notes.
VGC Stormy Blue - undercoat for entire figure
Center spine (and all the way to end of tail)
VMC Hull Red & VGC Hammered Copper
    & VMC Camo Black-Brown
    VMC Hull Red wash
Large scales adjacent to center spine scales:
VMC Hull Red & VGC Hammered Copper & VMC Camo Black-Brown
VGC Hammered Copper & VGC Parasite Brown
VGC Parasite Brown & VGC Brassy Brass
    Underbelly plates:
    VMC Flat Earth
VMC Flat Earth & VMC Yellow Ochre
    VMC Yellow Ochre
VMC Yellow Ochre & VMC Beige
Small scales adjacent to underbelly plates:
VGC Parasite Brown (I added a little matt medium)
VGC Parasite Brown & VMA Orange Rust
VMA Orange Rust & VGC Moon Yellow
    Oxidation Effect:
    VGC Turquoise
VGC Turquoise & VMC Light Green
VMC Light Green & VMC White
    Horns & fingernails:
    VMC Camo Black-Brown
    VMC Camo Black-Brown
    & VGC Khaki
    VGC Khaki & VGC Bonewhite
    VGC Bonewhite
    VGC Whtie
    Eyes:
    VGC Turquoise
VGC Turquoise & VGC Escorpena Green
    VGC Escorpena Green
    Head:
VGE Dark Rust (VGE=Vallejo Game Effect)
VGE Dark Rust & VGE Rust
VGE Rust & VGE Orange Rust

That's no joke about the pains in cleaning up ol' Ral Partha stuff. Great video as always. Thanks for all the time you put into these for us to learn from.

How did miss this painting video?! I certainly remember in the days of yore, when painting lead gaming minis was a chore! Heavy and with large gaps everywhere, you learned much by making these old dragon and monster models look worthy of display. I have an old Grenadier White Dragon model, beautifully done but a "weighty" task to finish.

A really interesting take on the Copper Dragon. I remember those from back in the day. Back then it was just paint them in the appropriate color overall. One of my buddies painted up minatures for the local hobby and game shop. His look great but not like yours. I'm impressed by how you have chosen to do yours. I'm thinking yours will be much more lifelike. I was really surprised by your use of a dark blue base color and your choice of the red brown. That and your use of the yellow is beautiful. I can't wait to see what you do next.

I think you made a great point about drybrushing. Regardless of your level of painting abilities, sometimes the surface just calls for drybrushing and this is a great example of how you can drybrush in a manner that really enhances the look and feel of the miniature. I'm looking forward to seeing the end result. Great stuff.

Looking great so far. On another note every time I hear you speak I have an image in my head of the Preacher from the Simpson's wielding the brush :)

Great work as always. You should paint more Ral Partha miniatures.

The mix of colors you've got going here so far is very interesting. The sheen of the copper next to the matte orange gives a very distinct look. As for the underbelly, according to their entry in the Monstrous Manual, Copper Dragons prefer dry, rocky hills and uplands so I think a bone color would still work well.

good stuff as always , what is the best metallic for brushing(gold, silver ect..)that you have found as far as acrylics?
I cant always use enamels on my projects.and need to tap your vast experience with acrylic metallics.
    thanks in advance
