    Wonderful review, as always. Probably won’t get a chance to listen to them over here across the pond. Also, thank you so much for always translating measurements in millimeters to measurements in inches. 🙂

      Thank you Jeremiah. I realised that this is a brand that is unlikely to be available outside the U.K. but it is innovative and sounds great. They deserve attention. Hope a North American distributor may pick them up 😊👍

    Hi Tarun, thanks for digging these little gems out. I know there will be sceptical (polite) folk out there, but I can say from personal experience, those Mundorf caps will get better after a few dozen hours of playing. My upgraded GR20s are still improving.
    It’s a joy to see a proper investment in the crossover. The 6.8mH inductor is the same rating as the one in my speakers and I can confirm that the air core version is a proper lump, which retails at about £70! Worth it for those seeking the best but the iron core will be just fine at a fraction of the cost in these. Miles better than the average junk found at this price point too.

    • @abritishaudiophile7314
      @abritishaudiophile7314  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you Mark. It is interesting that this is one of the cleanest sounding speakers I have heard at this price and uses premium part in the crossover 😊👍

    Thanks for another great review Tarun. Always good to know if a speaker works well at low volumes or needs a bit of wellie to open up.

    @markphilpot8734 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    On this side of the water, we don’t see a great representation of smaller companies’ gear. Except for the iron core inductor, that isn’t a bad crossover complement of components. You are spot on concerning the why of the iron core inductor being used instead. I may be alone in rather paying a higher price for a substitute air core of the same value. Times are hard now and many are feeling the pinch. Believe me, your reviews give it to the people straight. Very few speaker manufacturers care about the quality of crossover components. That’s a fact. Compromise is a four letter word in audio. I praise a company that strives to deliver regardless of the price point. It’s very hard to do so in today’s fickle market. Logistics are getting ugly here in the states. Driver shortages for big rigs, super container ships tied up off shore and can’t get unloaded because the lack of drivers for big rigs. Hope things go well your way. Anyone looking for easy street is in for a hard and rude education! Stay safe my mates!😊💖😷

    Thanks for the review Tarun.
    I auditioned their little brother, the stand mount Mojo 2 a couple of months ago. The size of the soundstage was quite incredible given their diminutive size. They were very very impressive speakers which just lost out to the Neat Motive for my money. I would have been happy with either but the Neats just suited my room a tiny bit better.
    The Mojo 2 is definitely worth an audition

    In October I seleted and purchased the 'Orphi' Mambo IIs from among my recently demoed and many third party reviewed choices in the 'around 2k pound' ($2-3k) price range. I selected them for pristine mid size room imaging at mid to high 60-80+ dB level listening and can now compair like you based on my ATC 20 & 40 references. So now I've been able to listen to the OMIIs with different MQA quality streaming sources and can confirm your bespoke 'rich vocal presentation', also my bet with your input that they could bring enough clear additional extended base not to be sorry there wasn't a sub in the room (not-allowed by in-house higher authority). The OMII small size and high cabinet build quality suggested them for use in her recently remodled mid-century modern front room. So they arrived in California about 2 weeks ago and are now run-in and stabilized with a nice 'alto throat enhancement' in my theater/work room where I could provide near field acoustical battens to isolate the speakers from the room. So I have some experience with both the imaging and the base aspects from close miked acoustical strings through opera to electronic, bad-ass blues and rock with pretty much the same results you report. Doesn't seem like so much hi quality music can come from such small speakers! LOL In comming weeks I'll see how they work in their intended room with a bunch of different amps from vintage (CJ 11s) to Shiit Freya-tube (w Vidar monoblocks) to a Hegel 390, several class D mono-blocks and what I think might pair nicely which is a recently aquired amazingly tight/punchy/clear GaN class D amp. Thanks

      I built a built a speaker using those drivers but with a passive radiator woofer for extended bass and I heard the orphidian I am sure they did something amazing with that third woofer and internal lines but my experience from the 115 drivers are they are fast and responsive I love especially drums on them. I hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of your speakers and thanks for sharing.

    Nice to hear about a company I have never heard of before and being a British company is a bonus, having used all of the bass loading methods in various speakers over the years I have found I like a good sealed box of transmission line the best, the speakers reviewed today look like a very good quality product at a reasonable price. Interesting review from a brand i'd never heard of, someone mentioned a likeness to the Totem Arro's which I have. They are champions for me at least in sound stage, vocal and instrumental are top draw, as I'm not a heavy rock/Bass fan they suit my listening styles. but surprisingly, depending on the recording, will offer a solid bass performance, again they do require a 'run in' period which i'm sure your reviewed speakers will also benefit from.. Also liked the fact you picked a smaller company with an interesting hybrid and explanation of its inner parts ( that did sound a bit weird I guess :)
    I would have expected more bass extension, given its transmissionline sort of build. Personally I find a good matched subwoofer almost always a benefit for a better (or cleaner) extension. My concern would be its sensitivity to amps, where many prob. have already a quality amp that may not match. Good thing to point out.

    Firstly Tarun, I love these videos. You have your own unique style without the cringy fluff many other reviewers on youtube put into their work. Refreshing!
    I do feel your lack of enthusiasm for these speakers and I think I can relate...
    I've been auditioning a lot of speakers recently, when you aim for a price point you find alot of the speakers do a similarly good job but don't have that "wow" factor. Maybe an analogy would be food. A recipe could be "nice" but spicier, or "nice" but sourer, etc but what you are looking for is that magical harmony between it all.
    I eventually found what I was looking for in my Dali Opticon 6 Mk2's. Thanks to your reviews I decided to audition the H95/H120 vs the "What Hifi's" CXA 81's Glad I found your channel. Hegel is shockingly clearer and more tonally balanced. I think i've lost faith in what hifi and their reviews.

    A vintage speaker company used to use aeroflex ports but it is driving me crazy because I can't remember the name of the company. But the speaker inside is actually called a band pass bass cabinet, usually a 6th order design. In this case the normal open port of the band pass design is replaced with the aeroflex port.

    The tweeters go on the outside because it helps time align the tweeters with the mid base drivers. By rotating the speakers back and forth, you are bringing the tweeters in and out of time alignment. That is why you did not toe in much to get the widest sound stage.

    Hi Tarun. At first I did think you were damning these speakers with faint praise but after some reflection I realised that wasn't true. If I understood you correctly, like the ATC speakers they hew more to the studio monitor presentation as compared to warmer sounding speakers. At one time I thought that meant lean and bright, but I've learned that's not true at all. The ATC presentation is very different than my JM Reynaud Offrande Supreme V.2, or my Falcon LS3/5a pairs. The ATC sound is likely a little closer to what might be heard in a recording studio. But that sound also has a well-deserved place in home systems. It's all down to personal preference. Thanks for another excellent review.

      @abritishaudiophile7314  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Gary, thank you for watching and your support. If you are looking for a small bookshelf speaker then none of them will be very sensitive. This is only part of the picture. The impedance variations across the frequency range matter greatly. Most small British monitors work well at low listening levels so I would be surprised if the Red 50 didn’t. It needs to be driven properly but the Sansui AU 717 should be up for the job. Is your system struggling at low volumes? If so, try to audition another amplifier 😊👍

Lastly I have to say I couldn't quite understand the aeroflex design from your description. For one, ALL transmission lines are, to some degree, ported already. So how is this different? Is it a tubular line? Does the transmission line take output from one driver and merge with straight bass reflex from the others....?? Thanks Taren.
