@@HarleyGeezer1954 Yes, I am around 5’7” on a good day and like you say, I have to have confidence at a stop that I can flat foot the bike. A taller seat is not an option.
The SDC is a great seat. I run with it on my Road King Special and for me it is a game changer as far as riding comfort. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it. Ride safe 👍👊🇺🇸
I just ordered that seat for my brand new 22 Street Glide ST. I can’t wait to get riding although it’s winter here now. I had the step up on my 21 low rider S and it took a long time to break in. And I looked at getting the road sofa for my ST but I’m not sure I love the look. When I saw this seat I decided this it it. This is the best of both worlds. Slick and will be comfy once is broken in. And has that detachable back support. Saddlemen SDC pro black seat is my seat! Thank you for honest and quick review! 👍🏻
Thanks for watching the video. It really is the best of both worlds. I returned my step up because it was ALMOST right. The SDC has great Comfort and control. The seat will let you have better control of your SG in the sweeping curves. Most people have no idea the seat makes all the difference for control. The inside of my thighs were a little stiff because I was unconsciously controlling it with my uhh.. butt. I think you will love it.
Have an SDC step-up with the backrest on my Wide Glide. Great seat. I'll be putting one on my Road Glide this summer when I'm healthy enough to tackle riding a big bike.
So glad the seat worked out better for you, indeed the right seat makes a world of difference. Appreciate you choosing Saddlemen. Thanks for the honest review- now let's go ride!
I'm 5'5" with a 2022 road glide. I'm not quite flat footed when wearing my riding boots on the stock seat. How do you think this seat would compare for me?

Hello from New Zealand. I recently bought the Saddlemen SDC seat, without the back rest. There is totally enough support for me without the back rest and I am 5' 8". Most comfortable seat ever? Not even close! At least, not to start with and not yet. The quality finish of the seat is great and it looks fantastic on my 2014 Fat Bob, but after 500kms of riding (approx 300 miles), I am still waiting for better comfort to kick in. The good folk that make these seats say that the comfort will materialize! Although the seat not totally uncomfortable, my standard HD seat is more comfortable on the longer rides. I ride a lot, fast and far, and on twisty country back roads of which New Zealand has in plenty. I do enjoy the narrower seat of the SDC that benefits when you want to body shift on those corners. I do hope the seat breaks in to a more comfortable ride soon as i like the look, but if better comfort doesn't front up soon, it's just a form without function.
Mine broke in nicely. There probably is a more comfortable seat from them but, that is not why I like it. It is bike control for me. 10 different people can have the same seat and have different comfort levels. every ass is different and every riding position is different. I wouldn't give up on it just yet.
I have had a step up on a Sport Glide. This one was to stiff under my upper leg and hurts after a while. At my RkS i had the Saddlemen Slim. It was fine and almost no irritation. Now i have the SDC at my recent bike. Fatbob 2014. I drove 2 weeks and finally in one piece from Austria to home (The Netherlands), which is 1150kms…..i had no issues. Not even pain in my butt…!! One con; the aren’t waterproof and soak like a spunge…..😮
Yeah, love the seat. I have a link to everything on my bike in all my descriptions. My Bars are: Fat Baggers from J&P Cycles. 12". Here is the link. www.jpcycles.com/product/600-3655/fat-baggers-1-1-4-black-ez-install-flat-top-handlebar
After you have had that seat for awhile what do think ? my bagger is 170 horsepower and looking for a seat that will hold me without sliding backwards I have the saddleman slyfox now but it just doesn't keep me planted.iam 5'8 just wanted to hear if you think it would be a good seat for what Iam after.thanks
Wow, evryone's ass is different of course. I'm also 5'8". All I can tell you is it is narrow enough for me to use my lower body to control the machine. I think it is a little long for me sometimes but I think every seat has it's drawbacks, I guess it also depends on your bars and where they are and how long your legs are. My legs are short. Overall I can say it works for me. You might try a seat with an adjustable backrest that can grab you from behind like the dragster guys use.
Alright Cavalry Trooper, I loved your video and the information you provided. I'm also a short rider 5'6" and already dropped my 2017 SGS 1". My like the style of my stock seat, but it is very uncomfortable specially on longer rides. I'm considering the SDC with the back support or without, I just want to make sure is the right seat that can get me closer to the ground, foot controls and comfortable. How is the Lumbar support back rest at the lowest setting? Please advise. MSG Louie V, U.S. Army Ret Vet
Well everyone is different. I have played with the backrest a bit but lately I leave it down. It seems to work better. The SDC is almost exactly the same height as your stock seat. It is a bit narrower though. I definitely grip the bike better. Look at my 3000 mile review.
I am looking for an improved seat for my 2023 Lowrider ST. I want a nicer seat, but I do not want it to raise me up and mess up my ability to flat foot. The bike is very nice right now and I don’t want to screw that up. Any suggestions? Seems like all of the Saddlemen seats want to raise you up because they add a lot of padding. To name one example.
Not unless your passenger is a 100 lb. tiny woman. Even though the material is very nice, there is just not enough of it. I keep a Reach seat for Mrs. Geezer when she wants to ride. Consider it a solo seat. There are other versions for passengers however.
I have the step up now for my road glide and it doesn’t provide much back support and it feels like I am sitting up to close. Does the SDC give you more room to sit back away from the tank. Does that little back support really make a difference?
Thanks for the video. I’m 5’6” and have been debating between the two seats. This makes my decision a million times easier. Appreciate the insight.
I needed this video. No one else addressed the issue of seat height in their videos when evaluating these seats.
Thanks. Some of us are slightly vertically challenged.

Do you think the sdc seat with out bracket is the same as far as height? An comfortability?
I actually use the. backrest sometimes. It pushes me a bit forward and locks me in for cornering better.

Hmm, I guess the SDC comfort depends on how tall you are. It does actually sit you back a little further. The back rest is adjustable to about 4".
