- There's plenty of good options, and they're all great. You have options such as Corbin, Lucky Daves, La Perra, Whiplash, Drag Specialties, Mustang and Harley-Davidson. I only mentioned a few in the video, but they're all great.
There's 2 major factors when it comes to picking your seat, style and comfort. Both seats easily check off the style box, but the SDC offers a bit more comfort over the Step-Up.
The SDC Pro seat offers some improvements over the Step-Up design, but the Step-Up has a stiffer wall compared to the SDC Pro. However the driver backrest addresses this issue if you need it.
Should you upgrade to a SDC Pro seat from a Step-Up, that depends on your riding and if you need the extra support. I would say do it if you plan on selling your old seat.
Is the SDC Pro perfect for long rides? If you're willing to compromise some comfort for style, than the answer is yes. The truth is, if comfort is your priority, Saddlemen offers the Explorer seat and Mustang also has great options for long range riding.
Let me know what you think about these two seats, maybe share a different brand in the comments. Thanks for watching vatos, ride safe.

bison meme made me spit out my coffee 😂. thorough review and well done- nice to see the SDC side by side compared with the standard step-up.
Thanks! 👍Glad you enjoyed it
best comparison i've seen so far. Just spent so much time looking and searching for this kinda of comparison and details. No one really gets into it like you on this subject so specifically. I was worried that at 5.7 1/2 I'd have issues being flat footed with the SD seat. You confirmed that's a no. I wear boots as well so seems I have to save a little and get into this seat! Thanks!
Little baby on the frame on the wall is wearing the same shirt as you, that is awesome!
Thanks for the comparison. I have the SDC for my Sport Glide. Ive taken it on a few rides and have maybe a total 80 miles on it. Its so uncomfortable that my junk is literally numb when I get off. Major pressure points right on the cheek bones and taint! I just got the same exact step up seat you have today and I’m afraid to open it now since you’ve mentioned SDC is softer. This video is just what I needed. I’ll most likely return the step up and accept my losses on the SDC.
What seat did you end up with? Have the same issues with the sdc
You might want to look into the road soda from saddlemen
I ordered another SDC with silver stitching. For some reason it’s much more softer and very comfortable. I guess no two are made the same.
Great job on discussing both of these seats. I liked the pictures of different bikes with them. Have a good day man
Glad you enjoyed, pictures speak louder than words, sometimes it's more difficult explaining it. Thanks
Good honest review, thank you. So many different opinions out there on these seats. Guess it depends if ones butt is made of steel! Recently bought a SDC seat for my 2014 Fat Bob for solo riding. New Zealand. Our group enjoy long fast rides on twisty back country roads. I like the narrow seat for ease of body movement on corners. Comfort? The jury is still out on that. I have ridden about 500kms, approx 250 miles and I am still waiting for the comfort to kick in! Not totally UNcomfortable, but hope it gets better! The good folk at Saddlemen say it will?
Your bike is sick! I’m picking up a 2022 Vivid Black. I’m pumped. I’m definitely going to pick up the SDC pro.
It's a good seat, I like the backrest and the overall look of the seat on the bike, Congrats on the new bike vato
Just the video I needed. Good stuff man …
Glad I could help, hopefully you make a more informative decision.
I’m in my mid twenties and I absolutely love the rider’s backrest on this. Completely concur with his take on it: it’s comfortable but still holds true to the sleek Softail style. You’re never too young for comfort! 😂
Couldn't agree more!
Both seats look great 👍.
I think so too!
I just can't get the backrest to hit right on my back without it being painful in the lowest setting. The middle setting is the same. The only setting that is somewhat helpful and not painful is the highest setting. The seat itself is very comfortable but the backrest pretty much sucks for me. However, on a long trip, I do believe the backrest will be helpful in the highest setting only.
Great review! Do you think the SDC without the backrest will put you closer to the handler bars than the regular step up?
Thx mate, helped me a lot to choose those seets for my 22 fxlrs 👍
😎👍
Pretty good review, and you seem like a nice guy.
If I ran the SDC seat without the backrest installed, would the ride be the same as the Saddleman step up seat ?
Great video. Appreciate you
Great info brother
Glad it was helpful!
Believe it or not on my 2020 RKS I added a riders backrest and it made all the difference in the world with the stock seat!!! I can’t wait imagine if I put let’s say a Mustang or anything better than the stock one how much better it may be. But it’s not broken and I ain’t fixing it!!🤣🤣🤣
The backrest feels good on anything, I bet you got a proper one too. I wouldn't change it if you love it. The Mustang seat looks real comfy though, the Indian Chieftain seat feels real good too.
Good info 👍
Im 6'5, not sure which to get
I have the SDC Pro but was wondering how the step-up compares. Thx. And btw it’s a Native American Indian name pronounced cheh·ruh·kee. Rhymes with parakeet 👍
lol I like that TUN TUN clip
thank you for the info bro
so for two up what seat do you recommend ?
I would recommend the SDC Pro seat, but these aren't the best for 2-up riding.
So far the SDC seat not a fan! It’s hard and been trying! 1000 more miles let’s see
Let's cross our fingers, hoping it breaks in nicely. You could try a Mustang or a Saddlemen Explorer, but those seats lack style. I'm willing to compromise some comfort for style.
You want to sell that SDC I would be interested.
Not hard, a Lepera is hard
Great video
Thanks for the visit
Can you take the ugly white tags off of it?
Maybe with a razer blade?? They’re stitched onto the seat.
you can get different colors on the tags
How is this for a 5’11” rider? I’m concerned about this seat pushing me forward, I’m looking for a bit more room for my legs than stock.
It's noticeable and with the driver backrest it moves even more forward. You could try a whiplash or bmc seat to help you stretch out your legs.
Honest opinion 3rd time I have watched this video. Love the channel hommie. So I'm 5.7 cant decide on a seat have looked at both I put a ton of miles on I would like to sit further up on the tank and have back support as I have back issues. What one would you recommend? Honest opinion.. Thanks man happy new year.
Thank you for the support carnal. The SDC gives extra support with little sacrifice on style. You can really push yourself up on the tank. I remember Krusi is developing a new, you'll be closer to tank without the backrest.
@@InfamousCreep rite on man keep the rubber side down. Have a great year hommie
Great video. I'm looking for a seat for my Street Bob for the same reasons as you did, I am also 5'7''. I thought that I had settle for a Le Pera Kickflip, but you may have changed my mind.
How do you like that backrest?
I like it, but it also moves up closer to the fuel tank. Depending on your size, you might need to adjust your bars if like having your arms fully extended.
Back rest pushes you forward and creates new pressure points on your hammies. Personally, so far i like the seat without back rest as it give you more range and different ways to stretch for long rides. I equip backrest if im going to ride agressively and fast.
I like pushing against the backrest when my back is stiff, it’s more comfortable than my step up.
BAHAHAHA How much you love the Pillion us the best thing for choosing a seat
I know right, forgot about all the other details haha. I mentioned something similar about the street bob in another video, one owner got upset about my similar remarks.
@@InfamousCreep hahaha
😘😘😘😘
P**ches viejas! 😂🤣 damn men! Just ordered the SDC pro gripper in black and gold for the lowrider ST. Aver que pedo como sale bro. May go with the forward controls on it tho since i am 5’11 and dont want to be cramped up.
Unfortunately the gripper seat moves up closer to the tank. You can always adjust your bars, if you’re elbows are bent while riding. I like having my arms extended.
