I love to see curly girls not following the cgm, but still showing how to properly take care of my hair and taking off the pressure that comes with stressing out wether the product is ”approved” or not! Also not gatekeeping curly hair as many tips and tricks work for us, on the wavier side as well!

    • @ilariaf.7421

I agree! I was obsessed with using all natural/CMG approved produtcs for YEARS then when I switched back to silicones and sulphates my curls improved so much. Mel's video helped me so much!!

I lived most of my life thinking I had straight but frizzy hair. And someone said "that's not frizz, that's your hair trying to be curly and its not able to" or something like that. So I started to look into it, especially after one day when I air dried my hair and it was super wavy. I never did CGM or DevaCurl because I only just started during the pandemic so there was a lot of resources saying like "no dont do this its not necessarily good for curls". My hair is only about a 2C most days so idk if its curly or wavy but its something!

@@reiniamajiki4179 mine is very much like that too and I've just started to care for it as a wavy/curly hair so I'm still experimenting a lot and Mell explaining what everything does in my hair helps me understand when and how to put stuff. I was convinced by my hair dresser that I went to for almost a decade that I had straight but unmanageable hair. When I tried to book for a haircut she was unavailable due to personal reasons.
Well I went to a whole other salon and the first words out of his mouth were 'do you want to enhance your waves or keep it like this'. I was blown away. And with his help, and after a move several states away, and a new hair stylisty hair isn't as frizzy but it's getting very curly

Glad you finally found your waves!
Personally, hairdressers never had a clue I had wavy hair, when my hair was extremely frizzy 😂 and now that I'm following curly girls' advice my hair is super wavy and healthy instead of looking thin, flat and frizzy.
Mell should teach classes to professional hairdressers 🙃

I didn't realize mine was wavy either. My waves get squished easily and then frizz. My mom had super curly and frizzy hair she hated so I thought maybe I had just the frizz gene. After my hysterectomy my hair got super curly looking in a freak low humidity summer. It happens to a lot of people after childbirth or hysterectomies from what I've found.

Mel i just want to say that you changed my life. I was 10 years old when i first considered going natural and starting my curly hair journey. I found some you tubers that would just put products on their hair with some smoothing and their hair would be perfect. I would be absolutely FAWNING over it, but their techniques and uneducated advice never worked for me. Around that age is when i also became insecure about everything about myself including my hair, My tan skin, my brows, my nose, and of course my hair that I had no idea to take care of. I found you during quarantine and watched all your videos and learned so much. Now, I am 15, my hair is my best and favorite feature and I am constantly complimented on it thanks to you. Taking care of my hair opened other doors for self care, such as skin, style, a healthy diet and body. I am more confident than ever now, and I feel beautiful and authentic to myself . Thank you mel.

I *learned, I need Olaplex #3 but don't know how to use it. I was told to 'Leave 20mins before Shampoo' THEN, I was told to use, '40 Volume Developer' instead. So, IDK. Plus, I wanted to ask you about 'Oils and Hair growth.' NOW, "Castor Oil" is not the go to? It's 'Rosemary Oil?' I need it, because of Hair loss from Medication. Please and Thank YOU

I have natural spiral curls and I did the heatless curl method using a robe tie. Ya know the rope thing that ties your robe closed and it worked. It gave me beachy style waves which I've never been able to achieve before. Not even with a curling wand or using a straightener have I ever been able to get those loose beachy waves. So thank God for this heatless hack.

It's not going to work for everyone, no routine will! normal and high porosity hair will thrive with oils and butters, but low porosity hair is already hydrophobic naturally and will need clarifying and very hydrating ingredients! I love when you compare products. I’ve used so many that have failed. I’ve fought my curly hair ALL my life. Just embraced in during pandemic (I’m 59) one side is always giving me fits. One side is tight spirals, the other spirals and whatever lol

Have you ever made a video on different methods for hair dye? I'd love to hear your thoughts on things like henna, Demi permanent dye, box dye, etc. Especially for at home dye jobs and how it may impact our curls!

I was tripping out over why Mell's hair looked so different. Is it darker? Longer? 🤔
Then it hit me- her curl pattern!! ☺

I love this! Normally when I used the Aztec clay I do it while in the shower on soaking wet hair vs. out of the shower which makes the application process easier. On my
Mom because her hair is super dense, I add more ACV and make it looser then apply it in the applicator bottle which makes my life easier. Love your videos 🥰💗

I love the Aztec clay mask as a semi-monthly mask. I add in a little coconut oil, argan oil (to minimize dryness) and tea tree oil with the ACV (to help with dandruff). My hair feels soft and smooth after and my scalp feels great. Definitely not something to be done frequently and it can also be applied to the scalp only if you're worried about overly dry ends.

Your videos are so informative and incredibly entertaining. If I wasn’t even interested in curly hair I would still thoroughly enjoy these. Curious if you have any tips about troublesome hairlines. I have a cowlick in the front and styling is a real challenge for me. On top of my weird baby bangs after having my daughter. (Perhaps you have heard of these) but that is a whole nother issue. Flipping my hair side to side or parting the opposite way still gives me trouble as well as styling upside down. Rant over!

Happy Texture Tuesday!. Coincidentally, I just used the Loreal 8 Minute Miracle tonight when I washed my hair. I have color treated hi porosity hair. It seemed to work pretty well as far as I can tell. I did not know Amica had a similar product but I tend to stay away from silicones right now (personal choice). Thanks for the video. It was fun and informative as usual.

I recently got the Wonder water (the version with the dark bottle, it's the same formula but the smell is more pleasant) and I love it, my hair is super soft and shiny and it's so easy to detangle after using it.
