Nice Video. It's worth to keep disable to avoid starter and battery healthy. Frequent start stop annoying at Traffic light and sudden jerk to start.

I've just bought a bmw & the start/stop orange warning light comes on for a few seconds when I start it & same when I turn engine off. I was slightly worried but glad I found this video 😊 nice one 😎

Rented a 330, and decided NOT to buy a BMW because of this feature. The amount of abuse this constant starting and stopping does to the ignition system and engine internals is significant, despite what they say.
That's why we started offering auto start stop decoding :)
the only real wear is the starter motor and turbo (since turbos are oil cooled some are both)
Very good decision, I learned my lesson after spending thousands, first starter motor failed (which I didnt know about) and afterwards because of it being faulty it damaged my flywheel. 4 year old 330e with like 35k miles on it...
Yes my Jeep Cherokee shuts off at red lights and stop signs and won't restart sometimes. I think this is why! Thanks! 👍🏿 🚗 🔋 🗝️ 🛢️ ⛽ 🔧

M series vehicles still have a button to disable Auto Start Stop (ASS). Confirmed in my 2022 X5M Comp.

This looks like you have the adaptive cruise control on. Try to to turn it off and then it should not react to the car in front of you.
Is there an option to keep this auto stop feature turned off? I have a 2021 BMW X1 Sdrive and I have to turn it off each time I start my car. It’s very frustrating. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

what about when you have turned the auto start off but it decides to turn itself on and go into ASS mode? I turn it off every time. It also has the gray light with a strike through. what is that?
Thats my question to. I turn it off when I get in the car but it still turns on by itself
@bimmer-tech cam this feature make me stall when i am on red ligths and try to move off quickly because thats what i think it does to me
Yes, the Start-Stop system can make you stall suddenly, but when u disable it, the problem disappears :D

Why does it go into park on auto start ?
it shouldn't do that. If it happens to you, you should contact your dealership
Newer bmws have removed the disable button. So how can this be done now?
Our start/stop coding can disable it for you :)
Will this deactivation code void the warranty??
No, when it's done by our technician it won't void the warranty.
I only use it if I'm in a traffic jam and there's a long wait between starts. But otherwise I deactivate it.
It can even be dangerous if something happens to you and you have to get out of the way very quickly.
That's why it's good older bmws have a straightforward button right next to the engine starter, not like modern models - you have to click through the system :)

I don’t know, my car’s engine stop before getting operating temperature, even in the morning just after 500 m drive. Also some time it goes to park when put gas pedal, so have to shift manually to drive . 2012 f10

Did I damage the motor? Please help. I forgot to press the A button while the car was in park. At a red light, I pressed it, while in drive, but my foot was on the break petal. I then pressed the gas petal and the car turned off. I panicked and looked at the dash and it showed that it has to be in park to activate the A function. I quickly put it in park and pressed the start button, then put it in drive and took off. Did I cause any damage to the car? Any response would be greatly appreciated, thank you 🙏.
Why does it stop engine completely and goes into park when you stop at stop sign or on light?
If it happens to your car. you should visit the service actually.
i don’t know if you’ll reply.. but when my car does the auto start stop, it squeaks sometimes when it stops.

I saw a function in the Menu that allowed me to activate auto start/stop by forgot where I found it. Can you tell me?
We will need your car's VIN, as different models have this option in different places.

It is not necessarily bad for your car but it might make certain parts (engine, starter etc.) “age” faster.

This is the biggest useless gimmick dreamed up in the last 20 years. You save $100 of gas a year then have to spend $1500 replacing your starter ever 2 years. Do the math.
