If you're gonna do a half-fretless thing, you should either do the higher half of the fretboard of to somehow raise up the fingerboard to the same height as the frets. You're getting dead notes because the string is basically being fretted onto the lowest remaining fret instead of vibrating between your finger and the bridge.

I did my Squire with a Tele neck pickup and texas specials in the middle and bridge. Three way switch, like a Tele, for the neck and bridge, and the middle fades in and out on its own volume knob. Then master vol and tone for the whole mix. A ton of other cool ass parts and that Squire is one of the coolest and most unique Strats you'll ever find.

I just put in a set of lace sensors in an old Squier this week. Cool.
If you prefer single coils, you should try one of the Freeway 10 way Strat switches, that play pickups in series as well. It doesn't sound exactly like a humbucker (like coil-split humbuckers don't sound exactly like single coils), but it's a much thicker sound.

I clean for hoarders and there was a beautiful harmony parlor with a trapeze saddle on the property. Mice had gotten through the sound hole and were nesting in it 💀

mikey i have an idea, get a 7 string, but also get it in multiscale, the Harley Benton R-457BK MultiScale is $169, reason is because 1, b string heavy, and 2, the theory behind multiscale is its like a pianos string, please consider

body looked pretty cool after toasting it, and that probably also sanitized the trash residue on it..... but probably could have parted it out (neck and body) after a little cleaning and made 80-100 bucks total... but the resulting content could be priceless to some, i suppose

I have a old crappy strat it was what my dad learned to play on and his friend and his older brother. Then there was me. It’s at least 40. I call it the garbage rod as a refrance to the mosin nagant which is an old crappy rifle from the Russian empire. I plan to pass it down.
