    That breath you took, I took it with you. I'm learning how to camp with just me and my son because my husband died. Of course that's sad but we're still here and our son still needs to have a childhood. Practical things like weight limits, what I can physically manage because he's 6 and small so there's a limit to what he can do to help, I have to work around and binging family camping videos helps a lot.
    Edited to add: See, I was debating jeans and now I have that confirmation.

      I'm so sorry for your and your son's loss. You are an incredible mom wanting to give your baby a full childhood. I'm not sure how I would manage if I was in your shoes. Just wanted you to know, you're doing great! I'm glad my videos have been helpful for you. Let me know if you have any questions!

    I absolutely love camping with my son. I use a pop up bathroom tent for showering and night time potty. One thing we love to do while camping is flying a kite if it’s a windy day.

      We just got pop-up tents for the bathroom this last year and that was great (except for when something or the elements made it go on its side while we were away and there was a bit of a mess to clean up afterwards 😩). Flying a kite is a great idea!

    Awesome information. Do you do primitive? How do you keep food cold? How long do you stay?

    • @SaraWeston
      @SaraWeston  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, we don't do primitive camping. I did one as a teenager, and my husband has a couple of times as an adult (once recently with a few of our kids). But we've never done it all together as a family. Maybe when all the kids are a bit older. We keep the food cold in ice chests using a combo of ice blocks and cubed ice and freezing as much of the food ahead of time as possible. I have a video on Camping Food Prep in which I talk/show more about this, if you're interested. We typically stay for 7-9 days. it just depends on our schedule, but the minimum is at least a week if we can.

    Do your kids enjoy singing songs around the campfire? I enjoy doing that

    • @SaraWeston
      @SaraWeston  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, but that's something I grew up doing. They prefer doing riddles or creating stories. One person will say a sentence to the story and then the next person needs to add a sentence to continue the story and it keeps going around the campfire (and it gets pretty silly). (I can't remember if I mentioned this in the video or not already so sorry if it was redundant).

      Story add-on, I’ve heard of that

      @chrispleasantable It's definitely one of their favorite activities. The last two years, though, we've actually been listening to audiobooks as well. Last year, they listened to The Hobbit and this year to one of The Lord of the Rings books.

      I really think that they’ll enjoy singing songs around the campfire
