Building a Game Table

  • In this video I work on building a new game table to make it more functional, more adaptable, and more visually pleasing.
    I made a game table for my parents at the end of 2019. That table ended up getting a LOT more usage than we expected and while it lasted quite well, I was able to get some feedback from my mom and her sisters who used it regularly to see what the table was missing. This design takes all the feedback into consideration and the result is amazing!
    Please let me know if the comments below what you think of this style of video vs my time-lapse videos. I don't have a camera for filming real time content (I only have a time-lapse camera) so I ended up using my cell phone; this entire video was filmed on my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra!
    Thanks for watching! Please share the video and subscribe so I can finally start to subsidize my projects a bit through TH-cam monetization.

    You did a really good job. The matching grain and stain color gets complimented very well with the blue felt. Very impressive.

    Well done! This is the same style of table as what I am planning on building so I appreciated you explaining the details. Great table, and you're one sub closer to monetization!

    Very nice table! I threw mine on a height adjustable base, but I'd like to add a more elaborate design on it eventually, so this is a great inspiration!

    Greate work. I would Add LED lighting. It always add mood :) and should be easy to install.

      I added LED lights to my first iteration (you can see in the pictures at the beginning) but my mom and her sisters never used it so I omitted it on this version. I agree though, it adds to the mood to have LEDs.

    it helps to use Sanding Sealer before stain, Helps stops the blotchiness, I might have used a torch to Bring out the grain more before as well, Pine isnt the best looking of woods. ... thiose legs are way to thin, need stiffer base with the way you built the top section, (2) 4X4 Legs up about where Plywood ends are, with a Cross (2) 2x6s Top and Bottom and a cross member in the center between the Sets of Legs. to stiffin that way. But I do hope it is stronger than it looks to me as a wood worker. ... PS I would also add Power to each Cubby for laptops etc, Maybe with USB for phones.

    • @LTI
      @LTI  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've never heard of Sanding Sealer before, I'll have to look into that. Thanks!
      It seems to be pretty sturdy so far, It was a bit of a concern but I did try to design it in such a way that it wouldn't bow or have any weak points but time will tell. I do want to do an even more complex, fully featured version sometime with power outlets and what not, haven't had the inspiration for all that I'd want come to me yet but I think that's a great idea!

    • @LTI
      @LTI  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah it really was cool looking plywood (just on the one side though.) It was just some cheap plywood from Lowe's. It did get me brainstorming something cool I could potentially make with that.

    the table is nice. but i think the legs are to thin.

    • @LTI
      @LTI  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The legs are each 1" thick by 5" wide. I'm open to criticism and suggestions, I'm not sure what would be considered a 'standard' or 'minimum' but they seem pretty sturdy.

    • @joshwheeler2403
      @joshwheeler2403 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @LTI I think the concern everyone has is that with the legs only being ~1" thick, they might flex/buckle if your players lean on or put weight on the table. So one thing you could do is attach something like 2×4 (mounted on short-side to create T footprint) or even 3×3-4×4 post to the inside of the 4 legs, to help reinforce them.

      Agreed but an easy fix, put a spine on the back of each one , making a t shape from floor and tie it into table base
