For some reason both Shelly & Crystal started talking about how much items cost or how expensive things are. Crystal’s family seem to spend $$ like water & Shelly’s family is less showy on buying “stuff”. I do love how they have both hired family members to help out! ☺️
Just as an FYI - you mentioned you needed to buy protractors but you picked up compasses from what I could see. Protractors allow you to measure angles and compasses allow you to draw circles. Also, on the East Coast (and maybe out West?) there is a chain called BJ's Brewhouse that sells Pizookies and my wife and daughter just love them too.
I would love to see interviews with the kids in about 10 years talking about the special childhoods that they had, because Shelley and Jared really go out their way to make it special for them
It's so fun to see you go back to school shopping. I never got to experience this as a kid because i live in Norway and the schools provide you with everything you need, so you don't have to buy anything.

I do not have children of my own. Which is tough, but i look at it as an opportunity to help the kids at my school. I’m an elementary school counselor and the beginning of the school year can be hard and stressful for those unable to buy school supplies. I shop the sales and watch for bargains and stock up on as much as i can. It’s such a blessing to watch kids who don’t have much fill a new backpack with new supplies! I hope you all have a fantastic school year!

We never start before September, so it was crazy to see the back to school videos this early! - Can you still get plastic bags everywhere? Here stores don’t have plastic bags anymore, only reusable bags or paper bags for which you pay a very small amount. Most people bring their own to the store. - Do the older kids still need things like glue? What do they use it for? - Do you not reuse things like scissors or calculators? What happens to the ones from previous years? Thanks for the information! I love to learn about other countries
Those are great questions if you’re not from the USA. -Start dates vary here from state to state, even school to school. Generally kids go back after Labor Day. (Sept. 9) -plastic bags… again varies by place. In Oregon we are almost only reusable bags. -Supply lists depend on the district/school/teacher -things like scissors and calculators can certainly be reused. I’m not sure why they buy new ones each year. As a teacher I can also say that teachers often will ask for preferred brands as the quality of the items can seriously impact their ability to last. Crayola, Elmer’s,and Ticonderoga are the best of crayons, glue, and pencils.
Hey, high school student here! -most people i know go back to school in early August! Ohhhh my, having seen so many back to school contests and challenges of this family through the years, they never fail to make me smile. It is just a fun way to do a collective "task" as a-extended-family. They don't have a real organised way of shopping and piling up in the carts. That causes trouble at the self check-out and packing. But the job had been done, though the teams didn't verify one another. They most be okay! And treat themselves at a good restaurant. As for the tyre, damaged on the curb, that was savage. But I understand how Shelly feels, especially because Jared doesn't get mad. My question to Shelly is, do you ever get mad at Jared? I can't imagine. Thank you for sharing your adventures and random activities. Enjoy 🥰

Yeah right Addison is alway shelly fav no matter what and Aubrey is my fav from the start. She fun and so easy even she want her mum side but she just happy to be with dad side that is a good girl. Once you get into high school you don’t really need much just a binder with divider pens mechanical pencils paper and notebook for which class or you use it differently like for each units for that subject

@11:34 Oh no, I think you guys bought math compasses instead of protractors. Protractors are the half circles that help you in math with learning angles. Compasses (also known as drafting compasses, which are different than the compasses you use outside to find directions!), are the ones you use to draw circles with a pencil. Just letting you know this incase you got the wrong items for school! :)
Nice to split into teams. There can only one team that wins, but at least you all get to enjoy the reward. Accidents happen Shelly and Jared knows it was not done deliberately. The cleaners did a great job on the van, hopefully you all keep on top of keeping it clean. Blessings to all.

In Canada everything is provided for by the government so buying schools supplies until junior/senior high is very minimal.

The items you call a protractor, we, in England call a compass. A protractor is a semi-circular tool which measures angles and is mostly plastic.
