St Johns County doesnt need that much help when you consider average and median household income. Extension of half cent tax was a good thing and initiatives such as lower cost new build housing for public service workers are also welcome. At the same time, with slowing sales I hope some of the approved developments wont cone to fruition in near term as the infrastructure is severely lagging behind residential construction.
At the same time, Im absolutely against additional support staff in schools. Look at Broward County and their bloated budget with numerous made up staff positions and now having to jack up taxes like crazy.

The household income wouldn't change their property tax. That is based on value. So you could consider that most people with a higher household income can afford a more expensive home and therefore you have a higher property tax base. Though the biggest problem is most of the tax base is grandfathered in from prepandemic pricing. If they are a primary resident they more than likely have the homestead exemption, which keeps them at a max annual increase of 3%.
Builder confidence is up again for the first time in a few years. With the Fed lowering rates we will probably see interest rates start to trickle down. I think from this point we will see activity pick up opposed to slow down

I will never understand why we vote for these exemptions. Ex. say we approve a $25k exemption for people with purple hair. Great for them, but all that means is the taxing authorities just raise their tax rates to off set the revenue loss. So remember every time you approve an exemption you are voting for a tax increase on your self.

I guess so. Idk if there would have been any increase if we weren't growing so rapidly.
I like the homestead exemption. It incentivizes people to stay in Florida.
Otherwise your taxes would go up with market value.

People in general don't read what they are voting for. Then complain.
