I have great admiration for those who can record their videos in a way that making cutting unnessasary. And I understand why some viewers don't like cuts. I don't see myself ever getting to the point I don't need cuts. Impressive that you are at a point where you can read all of Stephen King's books
Really enjoyed your answers to the tags Cliff. If you do decide to read A Song of Ice and Fire you'll fly through them, the world building and character arcs are so captivating, I loved it. The Girl Next Door is outstanding but I think you have to be in the right mood for it.
Join me in November for a group read of House of Leaves. It will be my fourth attempt. Now that I'm leading a readalong I have no choice but to finish it😱 Love the cover of Through the Ravenous Night We Ride! Great job with this tag.
Thank you Jen! I would love to but unfortunately I do not own a copy and It is not available on kindle. I do hope to try and read the book again someday. Agreed, that cover is wild.
Great video Cliff! Oh man, I can’t wait to hear what you think of Under The Dome! To me it’s phenomenally underrated. It’s got Needful Things vibes as you mentioned, and it doesn’t feel to me as long as it is. Hope you enjoy my friend! I actually didn’t mind Sleeping Beauties, the ending was a letdown, but the concept was pretty cool!
Hey Cliff! I'm new here, just subscribed. Good stuff here!! I found you on Goodreads and saw you had a YT channel, so I thought I'd show some support here!! On the topic of "The Girl Next Door" by Jack Ketchum, I think you absolutely should read it! I know it is off-putting knowing the fact that it is based on a real-life event, but nonetheless it is an incredible story! Honestly, when I first read it many years ago, I didn't know it was based on a true story until about halfway through. At that point, I was really kind of struggling to get through the rest of it. I have since read it again this year, and I am still just blown away by both the story and the writer himself. Not all monsters are hairy with big fangs!!! Sometimes they come from those who you know best. I would love to know what you think of it if you do pursue reading it! Keep up the great work, and happy reading!!
Thank you so much for watching and subscribing! I think the biggest challenge for me, as a South African, is getting hold of the book. It is not available on kindle where I live and there is no chance I will find or receive a physical copy. I could perhaps import the book at twice/three times the price, so frustrating. I loved Off Season, extreme content does not bother me if written well, so I have no problem tackling the subject matter to be honest. True that in my video I am disturbed that it was based off a real life case, but if I had a copy-physical or digital- I would definitely give it a read...even if my wife hated the movie! 😂
A booktuber scared of ... books. Ok, then. Just joking. 😊 I'm not afraid of big books. I think it is harder to get into the small ones. I don't get much out of them. It depends on how they are written, of course.
Like the joke “He was a vegetarian not because he loved animals, but because he hated plants.” :) I find that tracking my reading by the year makes me feel a lot more comfortable reading more big books. Say I aim for ten books a month, averaged over the year. Then I spend a month re-reading Moby-Dick and something about late antiquity by Peter Heather or Chris Wickham, who write books you could stun an ox with. That’s fine. Some other month I’ll read some more novellas, reread some vintage sf and fantasy, maybe read some of the many Very Short Introduction volumes I want to, and read 15-18 books. Doesn’t take long to be on track for the year overall.
@@GentleReader01 I like dry jokes. Keep them coming. I use Goodreads tracker, 100 books a year. It is not that I hate small books. I do read them since I am a slow reader. If I had to read 100 big books a year, I would have to read all day every day. Lol. But I do prefer big books. I find them easier to get into and I like details.😊
@@GentleReader01 me too. I have some books planned each month and sometimes I randomly chose books out of what I feel like then and there. And thanks for the chat and good luck with the tracker/reading goals.

Thank you John! I'm sure I will pick up A Song of Ice and Fire one day. Just the idea of reading The Girl Next Door disturbs me, maybe next year.
I haven’t read Under the Dome yet either. One day. I think I’m going to love it.
I think I will also love it when I get to it!
Good job with the tag. And good luck with your TBR!
Thank you so much Michael!

Great tag Cliff, the lack of editing was no issue 👍
Thanks mate! For some tags I might just go with it!
I didn’t find the girl next door too challenging. No one rides for free is soooo much worse. It was a good book and you should try it.
Thank you Vanessa, that is the best advice I have received regarding the book.

Thanks Nikhil! I am planning on giving Under The Dome a read next year. I will probably read Sleeping Beauties, but more as a completionism thing.
@@CliffsDarkGems as a fellow completionist I am in the same boat! I’m only 48 in so far, so still have a ways to go though haha 😆 enjoy buddy!
@@Shelf-Esteem Thanks buddy! 😄
I am also tackling Under The Dome.
Thanks for watching! I will definitely be reading Under The Dome soon. Will be fun to compare notes.
I've read sleeping beauties and enjoyed it. I also want to read the girl next door I've heard good things about it
Thank you Chris! I will probably read Sleeping Beauties one day/ Girl Next Door might be a challenge.
I haven't read Under The Dome yet either... but that size definitely intimidates me 😅😂
Thanks for watching! Under The Dome is definitely a big chunker. 😂
There are only 2 things that intimidate me: orange tabby cats and books over a 1000 pages.
Yip, cats can be scary 🤣, we are definitely dog people.

Great job on this tag Cliff! I’ve been wanting to read House of Leaves, but I’m really not sure it will be for me.
Thanks Chas! I might try it again someday.
I couldn’t find House of Leaves either. Supposedly there is a hidden message if you can find all the spelling mistakes. Not my thing.
Thanks Greg, maybe one day I will give it another try.
