- The Lizardmen, the Children of the Old Ones and Great Enemy of Chaos, are a race in Warhammer fantasy who will be a DLC or expansion race for Total War Warhammer. This video will cover the lore, army compositions, units, and tactics of the Lizardmen, as well as Lizardmen Legendary Lord choices and how they might be implemented in Total War Warhammer on their home continent of Lustria.
Indypride from milkandcookiesTW also covers possible legendary lord choices, and possible gameplay mechanics like the Geomantic Web, Spawning Pools, quest battles, and wars against the Daemons of Chaos and Skaven from Clan Pestilens that could make the Lizardmen campaign very unique, interesting, and lore friendly.

I think it’s proven in Age of Sigmar when Kroak rearranged hundreds of asteroids into Pepe the frog before firing all of them at the enemy

Thousands of years ago the Slann played the very first games of Blood Bowl against the great Khemri Empire (before the Khemri Empire was wiped out and resurrected as mummies and skeletons).

I like how the lizard men are not what you would think a race like that to be from first impressions, they are actually very enlightened compared to other races instead of just dumb and savage. Also, love your description of the old ones being douchebags haha. This wil be my first race for sure. Then Skaven.
kelman221 I agree I didn’t expect to like the Lizardmen as much as I did. High Elves are my favorite but Lizardmen are my second. I don’t quite get why Skaven are as popular as they are, to me they are decent but oh well everyone has their own opinions.
Just like the Great Pyramids, great wealths of ancient knowledge will be lost if they ever disappeared.
Brian Cline old comment, but after playing ikkit claw and using some of their ambush armies from Eshin and from the other main ambush faction I must say Skaven are by far my favorite faction with so many good game mechanics and different units.

Yeah and fantasy had so many opportunities! but games workshop ended it all.. and replaced it with age of sigmar..
Perhaps chaos corruption could be present on lizardmen territory as normal, but as you connect and rebuild the temple cities it could progressively decrease due to the slann becoming more aware of it or something along those lines.

I don't know it would be way too overpowered to have Kroak or Nagash as a legendary lord unless they were made to be very weak compared to their lore counterparts and that would be lame.
Perhaps part of the campaign goals of the Lizardmen would encompass 'returning' power to Lord Kroak - even if that goes against the lore. i.e. regain all of your temple cities, and eliminate all enemies in the continent of Lustria. after that, lord Kroak 'awakens' and provides periodic factionwide buffs, kind of like the Beastmen lunar cycle buffs.

Man I remember when I first saw the. Tabletop rulebook for the lizardmen. I was so fascinated by the lore the design. When I heard that in total war 2 there will be lizardmen I was so hyped I bought the game to play them only

I love the parallel I see here with our beloved Argonions of the Eldar Scrolls. A bit of lore for you:
" An Argonian political faction known as the An-Xileel managed to rally the natives and push back at Mehrunes Dagon's forces with a native might unmatched in any other province save Cyrodiil itself, where Martin Septim likewise pulled the Counties together at a battle at Bruma. The Argonian forces apparently managed to flood into Oblivion itself, fighting and winning against the Daedra on their own turf. The Dremora lieutenants were forced to close their own Gates to prevent being overrun, something unheard of anywhere else. The An-Xileel and their resistance managed to hold Black Marsh until Martin defeated Dagon in the Imperial City and closed all the Gates forever.
Following the Crisis, the An-Xileel emerged as the dominant political force in Argonia, and managed to restore the province's independence in the following years due to the Thalmor inciting an uprising. The Argonians remained a force to be reckoned with, nearly destroying the Dunmer of Morrowind, as well as suppressing any remnants of the Empire in the region. This event was known as the Accession War. By 4E 40, Black Marsh was still independent of the new empire under Titus Mede."
This is lore set between the end of Oblivion and the start of Skyrim. Our boy the Dragonborn is born in 4E 201.
I know it'll likely be set in Hammerfell but by God do I want to be an Saurus Lizardman An-Xileel riding Grymloq charging forth with my brothers straight into chaos itself and making the dark gods shit themselves in the next Eldar Scrolls game.

The story of Oxyotl, the chameleon skink, is also very interesting!
One of the only entities to (apparently) having travelled to the chaos realm _and back_ - more or less unscathed.

Erebus2075 they truly are. The first chaos invasion makes Archaon and Avasar Kul's invasions look like a scouting mission. And the Lizardmen fought that invasion for years.

I think seeing the little skink prophet would be interesting. Probably work like Skarsnik or the Fey Enchantress, buffing skink chaff into a formidable killing force while suffering penalties that makes it hard to depend on Sarus or Slaan.

Markus Nävergård. He definately is. Nagash needed Arkhan to ressurect him while Kroak just wills himself to life because he got bored of death and needed to save the world.
and Nagash is still undead while Kroak becama alive. man if they gave us a Lord Kroak at the peak of his powers, you could solo entire campaigns. jsut wiping out armies left and right

I think my favorite hinted at cross over between warhammer and warhammer 40k was that Sigmar may have been one the lost primarchs and that's why his symbol was a twin tailed comet that looked surprisingly like a drop pod firing it's thrusters. Sadly, with all the extended fluff with horus Heresy it was pretty much done away with :(
Honestly I enjoyed warham fantasy being it own thing much more. Properties don't have to be interconnected.
Yeah I know, I just quite liked that idea with Sigmar. Wasn't Warhammer Fantasy originally meant to be on a planet within the eye of terror or something? I might be wrong but I vaguely remember that being a thing.
As warhammer is now, it would kind of make sense especially given how the stormcasts look.

What's the correlation between a lost primarch and drop pods ? They didn't crashed in pods. Plus the drop pods have only one top thruster, the others are beneath to slow the fall before impact.
Don't forget Sigmar was born in the old world, he has a mother and a father, this is one of the least believabe theory out there bro'.

All three games are going to tie together, the maps are gonna be put into one huge map with three separate theaters of war. How that works if you only have one of the three games I don't know, but that's their plan anyway.

The debate has never been if Nagash could match Kroak, it was between Mazdamundi and Nagash. Plus most lore master favour Mazdamundi over Nagash.

Great job with the video! I think the same way you do for the legendary lords, Mazdamundi and Krokgar must be the LL for the faction, and later we will get our sotekfanbase skinks in a later DLC with the skaven clan (in a similar way to the Angrund Clan and the Crooked Moon).
I bet the third game will be awesome, and will get us to the End of Times of Warhammer, and hopefully we will get Lord Kroak with all his strenght back (for those of you who know, he just wills himself back to live. Learn from him, undeads).
Ok the chameleon skinks and jungle swarms may not work on their own but as a combination unit. Low detection range could manifest as an accuracy debuff on ranged units firing at them. With the jungle swarm adding area damage on cavalry and a fear effect on cavalry; horses hate snakes. A living minefield. Forest walker would work for them as with the wood elves.

When I was 12 years old I had some Lizardmen models from games workshop, they were always my favourites... this means so much to me... can't fucking wait.

Actually interesting how, while I agree with your introduction describing them as unique, the Lizardmen still have equivalents in different fantasy universes. (Although fantasy is not nearly as saturated with lizards as it is with elves, dwarfs and knights)
The fantasy genre (often attributed to the likes of Tolkien) always, in a way, represents the real world. GW and Warhammer just make it incredibly obvious with the world being completely based on Earth and its geography. Ulthuan (Atlantis) is an exception, along with Athel Loren being quite far away from Ireland. Everyone knows how it works with Warhammer, and the Lizardmen are the South American Mayans, a fascinating civilisation whose strength originated not from gunpowder and bullets, but from their religion and architecture.
There are Lizardmen in Terraria, too, that live in Mayan temples and thanks to whom the jungle is the only place in the world which cannot be corrupted. They're also present in many other fantasy worlds but, as I said, not to an extent which would make them uninteresting. They're still fresh!

I think the Lizardmen are more based for melee fights rather than ranged as most of their missile units are short ranged but can be effective in chipping away at enemy units with status effects, if for instance you can have a buff for chameleon skinks that allow them to cause a ton of damage kinda of like a backstab and also provide them a master ambusher trait so you can cycle their ambush buff.
The razordon and salamander will be more akin to chaos warhounds but the razordon can be given armor piercing dmg maybe or it can be a quick moving ranged skirmisher, Salamander can easily be given flaming attacks which will help in shredding undead lines.
Sauros are like you mentioned the backbone of the Lizardmen army, but heavy units like say Troglodons can be worked like Single entity units, Dread Saurians which I'm surprised you only mentioned once can still be used as like Dragons/Feral Manticores as riderless single entity unit the lore does allow that. I'll be really surprised if CA decides to put in Carnosaurs as mounts but leave Dread Saurians as unit out, its too good to be left out.
As Flying creatures besides the Ripperdactyl and Terradons CA could implement poisonous Coalts as kinda the Lizardmen equivalent of Bats.
Though honestly I see the engine of the gods and Bastildons engines but i wonder can they match up as artillery, they act like the Luminark you said but can they fire far faster then it to match up to something like regular artillery
The Slaan could easily be allowed access to all lores of magic, i mean Empire has access the Slaan can as well but more likened to Lord choice rather than Hero and access to only 2 lores of magic when chosen, like Jade and Beasts don't know how CA can implement something like that without increasing the number of points one can gain when leveling up.
Though when it comes to Lords I'll love to see CA give us an Ethereal Lord for the first time as Lord Kroak.
But other factions need some love too like Elspeth von Draken and her Carmine Dragon for the empire with a unique start position in Nuln also considering the lore CA could provide us with a DLC like the king and the warlord with Tamurkhan and his bloated Toad Dragon against Elspeth von Draken and her Carmine Dragon and going by the lore give us a nice set up for the Daemons as a faction which could trigger a Lizardmen faction reveal at the same time as an opposing force.
Also wondering how the heck are they going to work in naval battles....

This is the faction ive been waiting for :) I played high elves on tabletop but Lizardmen have always been my favorite I just spent money on a starter set for high elves and the models were expensive but if I had to do it over I would go with Lizardmen.
I know like 95% of the stuff said in these videos. Still I enjoy listening, it's nice. I might enjoy more background footage though in case I'm also watching. Maybe replays from total war WH? Still good job, keep it up
