love to see league players migrating here - I quite league when vanguard was forced upon all players and it was the best decision of my life :D I miss it? yeah, but I've lost weight, got promoted, got back to music and I still have time to play AoM or other games. wild stuff great video!
@@oneapratclown you and I are in the same exact boat. I uninstalled a few weeks before Retold came out and haven’t looked back since. It’s absolutely insane how addicting that game is, but when you take a long break, you realize it isn’t worth it at all. Love to hear things are going great for you too since then!!
Great to see a Thor-ough (:P) analysis of a perhaps underappreciated God. I've been playing around with Thor BOs for a while and looking for a way to truly maximise it. First thing that struck me is that nobody researches Pickaxe. By the time you age up you will have mined about 1600 gold and, given your entire economy is so dependant on gold, not having Pickaxe seems inefficient. The 2nd Zerk is also not required. You need minimal scouting - really, all you need to find is a second Hunt. So, with that in mind, I humbly offer an alternate, more efficient, build that will age up at the same time as you did (4.30) but be stronger. 1) Auto-queue Dwarves but then queue 2 vills who will come out after the first dwarf. Send the starting 3 dwarves + truck and set gather point to the tree nearest to you gold. Immediately research Pick Axe. 2) Send the 'Zerker to scout forward and a little to one side of your base. Use any herdables to scout the other. Again, priority is 2nd hunt, don't go too far. if you find any more herdables have them join in the scouting, find a 2nd gold will be useful. 3) Once the first vill comes out, have 4 dwarves drop their wood and send them to your gold with the truck but leave the TC gather point on wood. You should have about 110 wood and, importantly, Pickaxe will have just finished so ALL the gold you now mine will benefit from that buff. NOTE: If you have your gold close to some trees you can move the vill and gather point to wood there, but, if you don't just chop stragglers trees near the TC. 4) Scout should be arriving home by now, so build the Armory. Build it near the TC, on the side to which you'll be herding deer. After the 5th Dwarf clocks on (to chop wood with the 2 vills), switch gather point to Gold. We'll need two more dwarves on Gold (6 in all). 5) Once the Armory is up, after a few seconds you can research Copper Shields. Meanwhile, begin herding deer to the TC. NOTE: When herding, you don't need to keep hitting the deer all the way to the TC. Give a deer one firm whack to move it in the direction of the TC - it'll keep walking in that direction so you can then whack another until 4 are in motion. Then, give any of the four who aren't close enough another nudge. That's all you need to do. Use the TC to slay them but if you don't yet have 6 miners on gold, remember to put back the gather point there until you do. 6) Zerk can now build a House then go back to herding. As soon as you have the food, research Copper Armor. Recall any herdables still scouting and move 3 to the TC near to where the Deer are coming in. Once they arrive have a dwarf hit the herdables to gather 5 Favor before going back to deer. 7) 2.50 - 3.00 mins: Build a Temple and Research Hammer of Thunder once you have the gold. Note: HoT takes 10 secs longer than the other two you've now researched so is better done last. 8) As soon as the temple is up force drop all food and Age up. It should be no more than 3.30 Note: I recommend Freyja here over Forseti. Valkyries are one of the best units in the game. They are fast, with a strong attack so are superlative raiders, and, as if that wasn't enough they can also Heal, quite literally, on the hoof. You can send the Valk over once you age up to scout the enemy base and indulge in all sorts of s**t-housery. Poking gold and food gatherers, maybe drop a Forest Fire, all to distract and disrupt the enemy whilst you assemble your first wave. The Valk can out run anything at this point so can kite their MU's, heroes et al around and get away before they catch her - then you attack. 9) Once you click to Age Up, send the Wood choppers + 4 dwarves from Hunting to build a truck by some trees unless you already have your Gold truck very near some. 10) Research Copper Weapons and then, the moment you have the food, Hand Axe. Set the TC and Armory gather point to wood for a couple more dwarves after which you can add more to hunting. 11) Send your Zerk towards the enemy base. Find a spot near to their base but out of sight. Ideally near some Gold or Hunt. Q Hersirs at the Temple and have the Zerk build 2 Houses whilst waiting to age up. The Dwarves at the TC will soon run out of deer so have them go build a truck by the 2nd hunt when they do. AGE UP (4.30) Whilst your age up isn't especially early, it's VERY strong. You already have all of the following: the 2 main Econ upgrades, 4 extra peons, ALL the first line of Armory upgrades and an additional Hersir buff. It's unlikely your foe will even have an armory yet. Your foe may age up earlier but will have weaker troops which you should slaughter, you also have a mobile healer so try not to lose anyone! The attack: Build a pair of Barracks. Rax go up 15 seconds faster than the Great Hall and Zerks train in half the time of RC. You will want to train 6 to 8 Zerks and upgrade to Medium Infantry b4 you go to attack. With your upgrades the Zerks/Hersirs/Valk should deal with anything they have ready. Now build Axemen. As soon as you can research Burning Pitch. Your Axemen now become Classic Age Siege and will decimate buildings in seconds. Go for the kill, level their TC and it'll be game over. Played a couple of games with this to test and, in both, had the enemy TC down by 10 - 11 mins. Felt like cheating tbh. I wouldn't be surprised if Thor gets a nerf before too long.
I hope they don't nerf, because it's a very skill based build order, instead of nerf, just add micro mechanics to the others civs aswell to get an early advantage
The reason I love this game is you can play 100 games and each will be different and you learn a little more. Everyone is always looking for the Meta and crying that X is "broken" (but using it anyway, until they lose. Then whatever beat them is now "broken"). That word is now "broken"! This week Set/Ra Slingers are under fire for their broken-ness. Next week it'll be, perhaps, Oranos, for using the Chaos/ Shockwave combo (slingers counter themselves all too well) and so breaking the broken.
Hey Mate, nice Video! For the Build Order Table, it would be nice to highlight changes in red and green, for example "Next 3 Dwarf to Wood" Change the "3" in Wood Dwarf to Green. And when you remove something or get less dwarfs on a task make it red. Thanks for the Video, great job.

You do, the berserk just does basically 0 damage early on. @@KarlHeinzRumgef1cke I would have to double check for other ages, but I believe they (and Hersir) only get stronger when you age from Archaic to Classical age.
