funniest part of the manufactured allure surrounding Gotti is that for all the "respect" and being a "boss" jargon associated with him, he is literally famous for being instrumental in inadvertently destroying the mafia as a secret, powerful society. he like ruined the whole thing
My favourite trivia about John Gotti is that for some reason, Gotti vocally supported Saddam Hussein during the Gulf War. Which offended Sammy the Bull's patriotism to the point where it helped convince him to become an informant. Ay ohh I'm supportin' Baathist anti-imperialism over 'ere
He literally repeated "Travolta feels like he has to convince people he doesn't beat off guys" 3-4 times for zero reason. You could really tell they were expecting him to get to a point eventually as well.
In the Joker review, Nick imagines that there should be a movie about Bane set in the same early 80s New York gitty setting where Bane is an Italian bodybuilder from Bensonhurst. Great idea, but this movie makes it seem so real. The CTE-stricken guy in this movie who complains to Gotti about the closed boxing gym? THAT's our Bane.
I think about that bit about once every month, it was so good I can’t believe Nick shot that thing out of his cuff completely unprompted. Fucking Lou Ferrigno Bane, just beautiful.
14:20 Matt being exasperated at Felix’s video game shit is some of my favorite Christman moments. Its cool when he goes off on a rant, but that defeated sigh at Felix’s video game level analysis is just fucking perfect.
It's always a great idea to let a criminals family have total input on a biopic. They aren't going to let the truth of their murderer dad in it. The fact that they use Pitbull for a score is another great example, Gotti himself would have hated it but alongside destroying the mob, guido culture has decayed from Sinatra and suits to Pitbull and Ed Hardy. In that sense it is an accidental masterpiece painting a perfect picture of how the mob, and Italian American culture by extension has crumbled.
Isn't Pitbull from Miami, has the last name "Perez" and very obviously of Latin extraction? Not really "guido". Also, Pitbull's background is anti-Castro gusanos. Ouch.

A great testament to the pathetic mafia mythology. Most Americans barely know who Gotti is, the world at large definitely has absolutely no fucking idea who he is.
Not related but I always found it funny how bloodthirsty sociopath murderers in the mob would have nicknames like "Joey French Toast" or "Frankie Bananas"

It popped up in my feed again, so I decided to rewatch it. at around the 26:33 mark, Matt list s a bunch of Italian names and when he gets to "Sacco...Venzetti...", I lauged my ass off--just as I did a year ago. 23:24 From Paris with Love is like, the best John Travolta movie, he isn't just full bald, he's full supersoldier, and it has the dumbest fucking terrorist bombs in the world. Like someone watched Mythbusters one day and saw the dummy taking shots to the torso from some dumb bullshit, and then wrote 120 pages of screenplay. I recommend it, one of the best in the pantheon of post 80s rightoid supersoldier purges the evil foreigners movies.
Jokes about anti Trump hysteria are wack. Also Mike Recine didn’t get enough mic time. His impression of Michael Brooks on TMBS is probably the funniest clip I’d heard on that show.

In reality, Sammy the Bull flipped the moment he was caught. He just don't want to go to jail. He never been in it.
I'll never forget the first time Adam completed a thought uninterrupted on a podcast, it was terrible, please let it never happen again.

To be fair, Sinatra might be a better singer than Pitbull but liking his music is just as birdbrained.
