This is EXACTLY WHAT i NEEDED!!! I'm making loads of videos where I list side hustle ideas or making money ideas. All lists, so each time, I now show a timer but NOT with a countdown nr in it!!! Awesome!!!
Nice track matte tutorial! You can actually create the same effect without a track matte. Just set the opacity of the fill for the circle to 0 and increase the Outline thickness.
I hade the same idea, as a simpler way of achieving the circle outline. And moreover if you want to change the timing you could apply the “clip speed” effect.
You can use a simple circle with a very thick outline and apply that transition to it. Then you can control the inside of the circle without the alpha/matte.
Since the effect is achieved with a transition, the transition will keep running, so the only way to achieve a 'freeze frame' at 50% for example, is to add a rectangle ON TOP of half the circle, and apply the Media Matte effect to it. It will then only reveal half the circle, and although the radial wipe transition continues, you won't see it. I hope this makes sense.
How would you recommend achieving this effect with an irregular shape? I am trying to create the effect of circling something using an oval shape instead of a circle, but the radial wipe makes the path of the oval outline speed up and slow down as it's revealed.
It doesn't really speed up and slow down. It's only your perception of it because your shape is an oval. The radial wipe in Camtasia is relative to the scene, NOT the object. Which means it moves at constant speed all around, no matter what objects are in there. This is why when you move the objects away from the center, the transition behaves differently. If your object is oval, naturally, it will appear to reveal itself more rapidly at the 'poles' because it's deformed and in relation to the straight line movement of the transition, it appears to accelerate. I don't think you can do a constant reveal with any other shape in this manner. You'd need something like AfterEffects' offset which you can use to reveal any shape in a progressive way. But Camtasia doesn't have that, I'm afraid.
@@Graphicious Found a solution: There's a tabbed section within Annotations called Sketch Motion where there are different callouts you can use to create the effect of drawing a circle, oval, rectangle, etc. around something to call attention to it. At first I thought there were only hand drawn effects but there are perfect shapes in there too. I guess this would also be another way to make a circle progress bar.
I applied alpha invert to the top line and it hid the inner circle - so far perfect. Then when I applied the radial wipe the circle starts at the bottom and both the left and right circle lines move up at the same time to create a circle. In your video only one line creates a circle not two lines that join at the top. I hope this makes sense. I have tried all other effects but nothing can draw a circle like i would with a pen like yours does. My circle is created like i have two pens drawing at the same time using my left and right hand from the bottom to join together at the top.
You must have moved the element off the center, am I right? The radial wipes work relative to the center of the screen. So if you group it, it will create that virtual canvas inside the group and work. But if you mess with it, it will revert to considering the center of the main canvas as the point for the revolving, which is why you see it like that because now it creates the wipe from the center of the screen. It also does this for me when I add an asset like this from the library. I can only assume it’s a bug. The way I fix it is by moving the whole ensemble back to the center of the screen, ungrouping and grouping again. I have this whole process in a video coming out soon, including this weird scenario. Hope this makes sense.
@@Graphicious Yep, you are right - you are a legend !!. Once i moved the circles to the centre of the screen it worked perfectly. I moved the element to the side because I wanted to use it to the left of screen. Actually circling the subscribe button on an end screen. I have an idea for you seeing you are so cool. Why not create - tscproj files that people can buy cheaply. If you sell thousands it could be a good money spinner. Just a thought. Love ya work either way. I am going to search for more of your tutorials as I have already subscribed. I am trying to create 15 to 19 second end frames with a voice over that says thanks for watching if you liked this video press the subscribe button and notification bell and you can watch more of my videos by clicking on one of these videos here.
Thank you! Glad it worked. I have created some assets already, although I apparently am not promoting them so well because not many people find them. They are only a few, just to 'test the waters'. But I am encouraged by everyone who suggests I should do this and I have several prepared to be uploaded. You can find them here: www.buymeacoffee.com/cristi/extras
I am also working on dedicated Camtasia/Video Editing courses to teach skills, not just knowledge, if you know what I mean. Since you've so generously provided your feedback, may I ask: would there be an aspect of editing (with Camtasia or others) that you would love to get some training or coaching on? What would you feel like you'd love to have a walkthrough on? Also, in terms of assets, what assets would you be interested in grabbing? I have several 'subscribe CTA' buttons and animations, but I was also thinking of intros, title screens, lower thirds, that kind of stuff...

Excellent. I never thought of using a radial wipe for a progress bar. Definitely adding to future training videos.
I have been using this as a “special” highlight to bring attention to a certain aspect of a picture in my tutorial videos. Your content is awesome.
Thanks, I appreciate the feedback!
thanks man, your video helped me
Glad I could help
Why this video isn't getting a million views? Thanks bro, this was super helpful!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching!
Outstanding use of Camtasia animations and shapes! Thank you. New Subscriber!

You’re right, that also works

DUDE!!! Your a fricking life saver I was searching this animation the whole day u explained it was very well with no confusion thanks a lot!
Glad to hear it!
QUESTION: I want the INSIDE circle colored and NOT black, how do I do that?
You can use a simple circle with a very thick outline and apply that transition to it. Then you can control the inside of the circle without the alpha/matte.
super ..thank u
Welcome 😊
Amazing, thanks a lot for sharing this 🌸😊
So nice of you
Thank you Cristi! If you don't mind, how to make that same circle but to make it stop when it reaches 50% for example. Thank you!
Since the effect is achieved with a transition, the transition will keep running, so the only way to achieve a 'freeze frame' at 50% for example, is to add a rectangle ON TOP of half the circle, and apply the Media Matte effect to it. How to add percentage inside circle like from 1,2,3,4..100% as it progresses
