Zizi Jeanmarie was famous for many things including this Roland Petits (her husband) ballet. The first film of this choreography, that she appeared in, in was in the 1960 I believe. And then this, two decades later. She was well in her 50s in this clip. The fact she is older is clear in the close ups but her dancing and physicality remain remarkable. I am amazed that two famous screen captures of iconic performances feature Jeanmarie in her 50s as Carmen and Fonteyn as Juliet at 47. Two of the greatest dancers so supported by the youth and remarkable capacity of Baryshnikov and Nureyev.
