Hello Curtis. Attics are nice, no helicopters! It's just all the dust and insulation in the air every time you move. Enjoy the fact that you are a master of the HVAC trade! Thank you for sharing my friend.
Curtis, I could never do you tube videos! I replaced a radiator on my van today, I watched 2 you tube videos on how to replace it. Both were about 12 minutes long.. took me about 3 hours ,took the longest just to separate the AC condenser from the radiator what a PIA. I said several bad words ,installing the new one went well but I forgot to put the electric fans back on so back apart and several bad words ! You tube wouldn't like me! The engineers that design vehicles and HVAC equipment have never had to repair one! Keep warm its going to get even colder!
Like everything you’re doing only one thing I would recommend, get yourself a good lightweight rechargeable headlamp and get the malco ez clean 1/4-5/16” magnetic chuck, so much better than the Klein!
I can see a little issue with flamerout when the blower came on got a problem with the heat exchanger probably a little crack but a little yellow is noticeable on the furnace
And this folks, is why the NEC requires a working light to be installed above HVAC equipment. Good job Curtis, that furnace is a royal pain in the butt.
I am concerned that there could be some CO leakage on the pipe going through fan section. I would have put a longer flue pipe in there and get the connection further away from the cabinet. Ant that maybe the reason you had some yellow flame. I thought I detected a little push back on the flame when the fan started.
That filter is like not changing the oil on a vehicle. Just a little preventive maintenance goes a long way. All that grease on the filter cause the motor to strain and work harder.
Actually that's backwards. When there's no airflow or low airflow the blower motor has less of a load. Now if it's an ECM motor, dirty filter will cause it to ramp up in speed.
I have noticed that on most of the gas furnaces you can use flexible gas line at furnaces and that there is no rubber grommet use where it goes through the cabinet and the flexible pipe is rubbing the metal and at some point it will wear a hole in it we had to install a rubber grommet to be passed on inspection
That’s is why it’s a code violation. People that do it don’t know or don’t care. There is the danger of it vibrating against the cabinet and causing a leak.
Where did you get that wire brush that fits in the impact? I have them but the ones I have you have to cut the handle off and use a drill.. The impact one looks alot faster and easier Nevermind.. Amazon... Found them
You are correct. Carrier/Bryant/Payne 373LAV/376CAV are downflow/horizontal units with the vent through the blower compartment. The upflow models (383KAV/395CAV) do not.
I had a customer’s house catch on fire because the gas flex connector was ran into the unit and the flue pipe got struck by lightning. The flex connector the had a hole in it and was shooting flames out into the mechanical closet. It was a scary thing to see. Now any time I see a flex running into a unit I beg the customer to let me fix it for them and I tell them that story.
hi this is a strange quistion but is learning hvac kinda tough? im asking because you make it look so easy and i dont know if it will be. Im 17 and my dad got me a job at the place he works and im scared out of my mind. im worried that ill mess up constantly and wont be a good employee. im not the best at math and as you can probably tell im not the best with grammar as well. My dad said im going to be an install helper but i feel like ill just be in the way or if lead is teaching me something it will go in one ear and out the other. i dont wanna disappoint my dad because he got me the job and he seems really happy that im starting and he said ill be a great helper but i dont know. i just dont want to get nervous and have to tell my dad that i dont want to do it even though i do. im just a bit spooked is all and i could use some pointers if you have any. thanks man and keep up the great work
Dude, don't be afraid. They know you are a beginner. They don't expect you to know anything. As a helper, you always have knowledgeable people to ask questions. Ask! Then learn like you are eating an elephant, one bite at a time. It took me 4 long years to train to be an air traffic controller, training the whole time. I went from knowing zero to sitting alone at a radar screen. But it took patience, and my learning accelerated when I changed my fear to confidence.
I don't understand how people can live in a house that disgusting. This isn't a poverty thing, it a being a disgusting slob thing. Replacing the filter is less than $5 and cleaning the cover is free. Also, that design was terrible. I changed the blower motor on mine and all I did was remove the cover, remove a screw and slide it straight out.
I’ve never seen so many Service Calls on RHEEM Water Heaters. The Fact that they Sell them at the Big Orange Box Store gets you Wondering about their Quality. 🤔👎
That housing is disgusting, why no clean it Curtis? Bad design Rheem I really hate the old Rheem motor mounts just stupid…those furnaces will last awhile but really dumb motor mounts also flue assembly is not that great either. I’ve said my two cents great job Curtis!
I must say that this was the worst one to change i’ve seen and it must have been crazy expensive from the vendor good job but for the life of me I can’t figure out why they build these types of monsters and worst everyone else copied them to sell it ridiculous
Nice work Curtis... thanks for not taking the Shady route👍👍
Thanks for sharing the video.

That is one thing about Curtis, he doesn't care if someone is watching him. Reason being, he does a great job, and is thorough, and does it right.
Excellent fix curtis.I take it that house is a rental.that filter was filthy
Yes it was
Well one good thing about OEM they mount right up. Nice work!
Thanks! 👍
Curtis Another great job in difficult conditions thanks for the video
Thanks 👍
People going to be needing their heat, thanks for supplying this service.
Us hvac guys are more important then the Amazon delivery guy once the temp drops to that 0° mark 😂😂
@@AllTattedUp13 Just remember, weed the calls. If they have a heat pump tell them just to switch to emergency heat. Move on to the furnaces calls.
Nice work Curtis.
Good job.
That was painful to watch. I admire your tonasity. Really enjoy your videos.

Nice job Curtis, that was a clear quality video, if only people would clean or change there filters ☹ Au
Thanks 👍
Watching you work with the new bag. Think the MCT is a bit more fluid than the MB4B.
Good job Curtis. For grease get a bottle of awesome from any dollar store. It will cut thru it
Good job you have what it takes to do this job. Keep up the good work.
I can see a little issue with flamerout when the blower came on got a problem with the heat exchanger probably a little crack but a little yellow is noticeable on the furnace
My what a slog. The dirt and mold on and in that system is bad. Thanks for the video.
And this folks, is why the NEC requires a working light to be installed above HVAC equipment. Good job Curtis, that furnace is a royal pain in the butt.
Hey Curt, or ANYONE.. was that the place with the bad disconnect?
I am concerned that there could be some CO leakage on the pipe going through fan section. I would have put a longer flue pipe in there and get the connection further away from the cabinet. Gas should be hard plped to the outside of the cabinet.
I had the same thought about the gas line.
That’s is why it’s a code violation. People that do it don’t know or don’t care. There is the danger of it vibrating against the cabinet and causing a leak.
Code in my area as well
Always hard pipe. Only a hack would use flex line to install a furnace.
On a Lennox 2008 3 ton package unit you can’t get the housing out to line the fan up right
lithium batteries do not like temps below 50degs. Do u leave them in your van overnight?
I think it's easier to drill holes in the blower housing and use the regular mount
Did you get a new bag? I guess I missed that video, that one looks like easy to carry parts along with tools let me know what bag that one is👍
Yes, it’s a small backpack
I am surprised u didn't have a universal frame for that.
When did ya get the new tool bag?
Clearly this deserves to be titled the air handler from hell!
Where did you get that wire brush that fits in the impact? I have them but the ones I have you have to cut the handle off and use a drill.. The impact one looks alot faster and easier

Every single time I look there's a new vid available. How you do it I don't know.
Nice job ... Kirby's not going to Alabama is he ?... Thx
Finally out of your hair!!! Looks like they been frying too much fat back lol
I did one of those a few months back had me cursing like a sailor quietly of course good work Curtis you deserve a vacation respect from cali 👊
I would have used a whole lot of adult language on this one.
Like “gosh darn” and “oh fudge”? 🤣
I keep thinking carrier made an 80% similar to that vent in the way. At least it wasn't a low crawl or tight attic
You are correct. Carrier/Bryant/Payne 373LAV/376CAV are downflow/horizontal units with the vent through the blower compartment. The upflow models (383KAV/395CAV) do not.
@@clintonwalker2413 think it was consolidated products made for all like ducane
I'm astounded that people don't clean. Those filters are filthy and seem to never to have been changed!
👍👍👍
I spray the rails with any lubricant and they slide in with ease.
I had a customer’s house catch on fire because the gas flex connector was ran into the unit and the flue pipe got struck by lightning. These mounting plates probably cost $50!

Very bad design Rheem
Lots of work just to change a motor ! Poor design 😢

Rheem has so many bad designs
Curtis, will you please get your self a roll of plumbing strap and stop using that duct strap for mounting your capacitors
This right here is why I keep Diversitech multi horse motors
I occasionally have issues with my gas valve, especially after eating lot of prunes.
