Thanks for the review. Ive never ridden a JS before, sticking with CI and Lost boards for years. Got my 5' 10" @ 31.3 L and loving it. Super fast with the Futures Large template in it. Loads of pop and just super fun to ride in the waist to head high sessions I've had on it so far.
@@henriquevert the XF has a bit more rocker than the Rocket Wide so it will sit into the pocket a bit better but the Rocket Wide will grovel down to smaller waves.

I have a 6 ft sub zero hy fi 2 , I am 60 years old and 80 kg , I like a bit of volume , nice board can get a bit of chatter in choppy conditions , was contemplating upgrading to the zero fusion hy fi 3 , I am at sunny coast average conditions around 3 ft most of the time What are pros and cons between the the sub zero and fusion , don’t want to loose the grovel , is the new construction less bouncy in chop Thanks heaps love your reviews
Hi mate The main differnce is the outline, the Sub Xero is wider in the nose and tail. The Fusion still grovels well but will also work in head high waves. I prefer the Fusion over the Sub Xero. I dont feel like my HYFI 2 construction is affected in choppier surf but we do surf in a lot of wind in WA so Im pretty used to it. TheHYFI 3 tech is substantially better than the 2 and I have moved over to the new tech in all my small wave boards.

Big fan of the channel, Wooly! Your vids have always been great but the last few have been next level, especially the drone footage. What do you think of the JS Xero Fusion vs something like a Rocket Wide Swallow? Considering both in EPS for an upper-level intermediate to use in SoCal waves (HB and Trestles mainly). I'm also 187cm/88-90kg :)

Hey Wooly. Great review - you were ripping. Do you think it has a similar wave range as the JS Xero or is it more of a groveller? Been riding a JS Xero as my groveller / small wave performance board and looking for something to replace it. Love the Xero - one of my all time favourite boards

@@ianwhite-g3y Hi mate, both of them would do the trick but you would be riding the Mash Up shorter than the Xero Fusion. The HYFI construction has more flex than the Helium construction so it has a different feel. I think the Xero Fusion suited me better but I did really like the Mash Up too.

Obviously you stock JS boards so you're unlikely to talk down the board. But how is the deck ? I have the previous hifi construction and it is soft as butter. Deck compressions are ridiculous and my leash cut through the tail in a run of the mill wipeout in 2 foot surf. Its great to have performance but not everyone has the cash to replace a compressed board every 6 months. Regardless, love your videos and content. Keep it up 🤜🏻🤛🏻👍🏻

@@anthonymay8840 very different. The Baron 2.1 is a performance twin that works best in quality waves. The Xero Fusion is a step down that works best in average waves.
@@WoolyTV thanks. I’ve mostly ridden quads and enjoyed the speed. But as my skills have improved that speed has become less critical and so I’m hoping to one day become a ‘thruster guy’ myself so I can enjoy that sweet neutral handling.
Its designed as a groveller/step down so it needs a wider nose template. Its not made to be ridden in some of the waves I rode it in and most of those surfs I would have ridden a standard type of daily driver.

I did surf it as a quad a few times and it did go very well on that fast left as a quad but overall, in a variety of conditions…….the thruster still wins

Looked best as a quad. Loved that sandy beach and the drone shots.
I rode it as a quad 4 or 5 times but only one made it to film, I still prefer it as a thruster but the quad suited the fast left that we filmed on.

Yeah thrusters fine for me too...swells up, main concerns for me now are acclimatizing to colder temps after being overseas.

My Xero Gravity is 6’1” - 33.6L

I think the Fusion will grovel down that the old Xero did. It's got a slightly wider noes and a touch flatter.

In the smaller stuff the HYFI beats the Carbotune and the PU for sure.

That wave is super fast and suited the quad. Im always on the hunt for waves by myself when Im trying to review boards....

Hi mate, yes it does grovel better than the original Xero, flatter and a touch wider as well. It also has the old BlakBox 3 rocker.

Stuck between hyfi 3 models the xero fusion and sub xero I have sucky and weak waves near me and I surf both which boards better overall ??
