This was excellent - thank you so much! It really helped me have a clearer understanding on this topic. You mentioned I Corinthians 9. After re-reading the chapter, I have a question concerning verse 21. If the law is a tutor to bring men to Christ, then why does Paul refer to unsaved men who are "without law"? Who would Paul be talking about when he says, "To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law." I've always been confused how Gentiles could be under the law until they trust the gospel of Christ if the law was given to Israel. How are Gentiles under the law but "without law" at the same time? Would you have a message about this you could refer me to? I thank you kindly :)
@darcya.9390 Consider that Gentiles are considered to have a law unto themselves. I have to ask the question, but how would they know if someone was circumcized? Did they lift up their tunics and expose their man bits to show each other! How would they know?
@markpersson9694 Scripture doesn’t say. It could be as simple as someone simply asking and the other person answering the question. God didn’t think it necessary to provide the details on this. Grace.
Paul wanted Timothy to accompany him on travels. To avoid the ire of Torah observant Jews they may encounter Paul had Timothy circumcised, Acts 16:3. Considering Paul's opinion in Gal 5:2-4 he did Timothy no favor. Paul often applies the crafty 'All things to all people' principle. Consider, 1 Cor 8:4 "an idol is nothing at all in the world" and contrast, Acts 17:16 "While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was deeply disturbed in his spirit to see that the city was full of idols". Similar to the opinion of our contemporary politicians, Paul's gospel often depends on his audience. Surely Jesus approves? The end justifies the means? Paul thinks so. Paul is a confessed 'Crafty, deceitful' fellow. Trust him to your own peril.
No brainer here- Timothy was a Jew, uncircumcised probably his father was a Greek. Only Jews are required to be circumcised - like a wedding ring is a sign of marriage, circumcision is the sign of the covenant.
Amen Hallelujah ✋❤️🙏
Good explanation I never quite understood that event till now thanks Pastor Reid.
Amen.

Jews and Romans of the time were fond of public baths.

Therefore would you say that Pastor Andy Stanley did what is biblical when he stood for the LGBTQ, so that some might be saved?
Paul could well approve. Jesus not so much.
