Thank-you for this fair and thorough explanation. Now please explain the difference between Reformed Baptists and Reformed Presbyterians (or Anglicans, Lutherans, etc). Is it just the time and mode of baptism? Or is there more? Thanks again.
So...every Saturday I say happy Sabbath to my family. When we have guests, they are considered a part of that family. I share the truth and some scripture for the day and week and don't do anything for myself. I study nearly all day. I share in family activities and love my neighbors a little extra. I think about scripture and implementing as well. I do these things because I pray that I keep the Sabbath, and the 4th commandment. To honor family and God, and to admire your blessings and give thanks. Also, to acknowledge and praise God for creating our lives and universe, and to acknowledge the greatness of God. I am non-denominational. I don't believe in man's input. God makes the Bible sufficient enough, and simple enough for my autistic daughter. What am I? No one has identified and given a title or definition.
@@vitesseguy As you know the denominations are forbidden in scripture, the root word for divisions is denominations. So you are a follower of Luther, Peter, or the large host of others first and not Jesus and his ways. 1 Corinthians 1:10 10 I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment. Bible Gateway 26 The enter denominational church system, is built and functions to serve the Goddess Circe. Who the word "Church" comes from. This is the story of Cain and Able. A man made approach to provide the sacrifice we want God to bless vs the sacrifice God whats. It is the story of the word school. A school of dance or a school of fish. The denominational Church system is like a school of of dance. It still works without dancers but a school of fish is 3 or more fish in community, no fish, no Ekklesia. So the denominational church system is the counterfeit of the school of fish. You see that the Reformed Baptists and Reformed Presbyterians (or Anglicans, Lutherans) are man made "Cain based" approaches to worshipping God. Ask God, what he thinks about them?
@@bradmiller7001 _"So you are a follower of Luther, Peter, or the large host of others first and not Jesus and his way"_ Why are you trying to divide Christ? 1 Cor 1:12f What I mean is that each one of you says, “I follow Paul,” or “I follow Apollos,” or “I follow Cephas,” or *“I follow Christ.” Is Christ divided?* Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? You are engaging in the very behavior Paul forbids in the very chapter you reference. I don't think Paul is forbidding denominations per se in this chapter, but the sort of divisiveness your comment is made of.

I always find it interesting that for the most part, the reformers/Calvinists always want to make sure they are known as one or the other. When other believers ask me where I land, I just tell them I follow Jesus and read His word.
I sat down with one of the Global leaders of the Reofrmed Baptist Movement for a very long time (over 2 days) a few weeks ago. We discussed in depth exactly what you are saying - when people are obsessed with distinctions and not the Gospel, it is evidence they are not saved, and do not have Saving Faith. Why does he leave out Saving Faith - which is THE distinctive Doctrine of the Bible and THE distinctive doctrine of the Reformed Baptist Movement? That's very concerning. Many "Follow" Jesus. Many "Believe the right things" about Jesus. But they are NOT SAVED. Salvation is (1) knowing you are a sinner, who is under the Wrath of God, who NEEDS a Savior... and (2) Believing and Trusting in Jesus Christ and His shed Blood Alone as your only hope ot be saved from the Wrath to Come... one who is truly saved will plead the Blood of Jesus, and the blood of Jesus ALONE. One who is truly saved will preach the Gospel - calling everyone to BE Believing And Trusting in Jesus Christ and His shed Blood alone. The Gospel, is not just for the lost - it is for everyone at all times, to BE Believing /Trusting in Jesus' Blood Alone as our only hope. Instead, you hear "you believe the truth so you're saved" "You believe Jesus is real" so you're saved... This is creating many False Converts, and much of Christianity even Calvinist and Reformed Christianity is FILLED WITH THESE FALSE CONVERTS. This leader emphasized it is irrelevant what particular denomination one is in, even though Saving Faith and being VERY clear about the Gospel and the appeal of the Gospel has been a Hallmark of modern Reformed Baptists... THE ONLY thing that matters is the Gospel and trusting in Jesus' Blood and righteousness alone. May we all cry out: My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' Blood and Righteousness!
Sometimes is is an easy way to explain their doctrinal and theological positions. Even Mormons will say they are a follower of Jesus. Which is actually a false Jesus.
I feel this same way. Sometimes in the church world people get caught up under the wing of certain teachers. Like those who were disputing in Paul's day about whose disciples they were. Yet I simply rely on the Holy Spirit to lead me and guide me to the ONE true interpretation of the Word of God and I'm not into listening to teachers or preachers like many are. Some teachings are great, but when it gets to deep theological and doctrinal issues, I always run to God first. Besides, who are people like John Calvin? Who are these men? Not apostles who gave scripture.
what's interesting is the fact that many don't know or understand that even though Reformation is found in Scripture its not referring to the Calvinistic Theology that's floating around out there, in case one doesn't understand However when it comes to the verse speaking of Conformed and Predestination which is Romans 8:29 i haven't really heard them mention this and Calvinism isn't a sure fire way to know God, God does all the work, and sadly even reformed preachers teach that we have some decision to make or choice no one has any choice in the matter of Salvation, God has already done this and still continues to do so and what i'm saying is that even though i'm not a Calvin, i believe in the T.U.L.I.P. part of the theology as many who claim to be a Calvin don't like that or understand
We Christians don’t even know what Calvin meant by the solas. No one understands. Calvin is closer to Catholic view of communion than evangelical. I’m an evangelical.
Why I love McArthurs sermons is he more than any other pastor ive seen cites nunerous verses while preaching, he flips through the entire bible while preaching on a single verse, he uses the word of God sometimes more than his own words which is rare in a preacher.
Ironically thats why I can't stand him. Most people preach the Bible like a buffet. It's a library of books that were meant to be read, like books! Meaning from front to back. That's how many doctrines of demons get started. Roman's 8 without all the other chapters is out of context.
John MacArthur is the world's foremost authority on expositional teacher of the scriptures Zola scriptura. His breadth and depth of knowledge and revelation of the scriptures is incredible.
I agree with you. Pastor MacArthur is a thorough and care teacher who is careful and takes great care in what he teaches. He is one of my go to teachers, James White, Steven J. Lawson, R.C. Sproul and Matthew Kingsbury are the other teachers I enjoy listening to.
@lukemadasz1186 when Pastor MacArthur goes through the Scripture on a particular subject it is based upon strengthening the Greek or Hebrew word(s) both grammatically, word use and definition and how it is used contextually. This is an important process to perform both for the one studying and the one listening. Pastor MacArthur isn't just taking passages out of context and teaching haphazardly trying to develop a new or strange doctrine. Rather he is taking what a particular text is conveying and he is expanding upon it with the full counsel of the Scriptures. I really appreciate the time, effort and dedication which is required to teach in this fashion.
Thanks, Joel, for this video. I would fall more into the MacArthur camp myself, but I watch your videos often and appreciate your teaching. Thank you for being charitable towards other Christians who differ in these secondary issues by acknowledging that both groups have faithful, God-fearing people who just want to serve and obey God. It's really important that Christians understand the difference between groups with harmful and clearly unbiblical beliefs, from which we are called to be separate, and fellow God-fearing Christians who might differ on issues such as eschatology or whether they are covenantal or disspensational in their theology. We don't want to associate with those who teach and promote false doctrine, but at the same time we need to accept those who disagree with us on more minor things, as the brothers in Christ that they are and not become so intolerant that we believe that our group is infallible and that anyone outside of it is a heretic. Keep up the good work brother.
Why have you put difference between you and your brother then? For I have seen Voddi Baucham preach and he has told no lie. It's a fleshly device to put differences between brothers for slight differences in doctrine. If he believes that Jssus Christ is the only reason we shall be saved, he has put no difference in his words or yours. Put away your csmps and let us all draw near to God with a pure heart of faith

You don’t want association with false teachers but subscribe to Macarthur teachings? Like the one he says one can take the mark of the beast and still be saved?!
I have never heard Pastor MacArthur emphasize Calvinistic Baptist the way you are with Reformed Baptist. I listen to him a lot and his focus always seems to be the saving grace of Christ. He is also very consistent in his connection of Old Testament to New.
He's Calvinist and not Reformed because he doesn't hold to the LBC-1689 or things such as family integration and regulative principle. But he's TULIP, 5 solas, etc.
@@cosmictreason2242that's what he said. He said that he doesn't empathize the idea of being “Calvinistic Baptist,” in the sense that he's not just being like, “oh yeah, we're Calvinists, we gotta show everybody we're calvinists.” While he makes it clear what he believes, he states it as fact and does use some scriptures, but he focuses more on other things.
@ninstone3457 -- MacArthur is a MODIFIED Dispensationalist, a Baptist and a Biblicist. He is not Reformed but has chosen a couple of Reformed tenets to call his own.
@@TheSlaveofJesusChrist McArthur is a rather interesting case because his strict literal hermeneutics naturally led him to Calvinist Soteriology. He says thait is in plain sight “It is there, you cannot say its not biblical”.
Im not a Baptist and an avowed Postmill in Puritan tradition, but I have deep love and respect for all the Macarthurs and Bauchams with whom God has blessed us. Great video. Thanks.
@@random-JYou should look at his full answer. Whether intentionally or no, you are lying about his position. MacArthur focuses on the importance of the death and resurrection of christ and was denying any magical property in the blood alone as if Jesus could have accomplished his purpose on earth by going to Red Cross and donating blood without actually dying. The symbolism of the blood is meaningless if it is not shed as a sacrifice for sin and paid with death for the death we owe to God for our hatred and rebellion against Him.
@@oracleoftroy your clearly a fan boy who can't take what he says for what it is. He never mentioned magical properties in the blood of christ he just said it wasn't necessary for salvation i can pull up scripture proving him wrong do want me to?.
@@random-J I'd be more interested in you pulling up a source for MacArthur's claim so people can hear it for themselves. And one doesn't need to be a fanboy to not like lies, one just needs to be a Christian one who loves Jesus enough to obey his commandments, like the commandment to bring forward several witnesses when making an accusation. I've heard your claim before and was concerned, but when I looked into it, I saw that it was completely overblown and being pushed by some very cult like NIFB types who hate Calvin more than they love Jesus and so aren't beneath lying about anyone who even smells vague Calvinistic.
@@oracleoftroy th-cam.com/video/rE6JPy75BmE/w-d-xo.html here's the clip , if the link doesn't work just look up john macarthur on the blood of christ. One of the best treatments in content and attitude of presenting our relationship to Catholics! Also, so clear on your explanation of the difference between Calvinistic Baptists and a Reformed Baptist. I went to John Mac Arthurs' church for about six years (still listen to his Sermons, going through Romans currently) and I went to a Reformed Baptist Church for twenty years. Now I go to a small, startup Fundamentalist Baptist Church. At least in name. They just preach Christ, his Love for Us and what should be our Love for Him, aka Love for the Lost and being serious about Holiness!
Amen John! I've often felt safer going to smaller Baptist churches, myself! But I also enjoy listening to John and Voddie B. They are well rooted in the Word! ♥️
St. John said, "Whoever sins belongs to the Devil. No one, who is begotten by God, commits sin (1 John 3:8-9)." Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, please examine yourselves sincerely and determine which group you belong to. Many of you believe some verses in the Bible, think they know and follow Christ, and are saved; and find themselves to be in the first group. Why? Because they do not truly know Christ, nor the True Faith, and are separated from the Source of Grace like branches separated from the Vine (John 15:6).
In order for a soul to truly hear the Voice of Our Lord, know and follow Him, and be saved, one MUST be among the sheep in His Only Fold (John 10:14-16), which is His Church founded on the 12 Apostles (Rev 21:14) with St. Peter as His Vicar (namely, Pope) on earth, vesting him with His Authority by giving him the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven (Matt 16:18-19), and sent to all nations to teach ALL He Commanded and baptize for redemption of souls down to the end of ages (John 10:21, Matt 28:20, Mark 16:16).
If one believes a part of the Truth which he likes, but ignores other parts which he dislikes, he is deluding himself. One MUST believe the Whole Truth revealed by Our Lord and taught by His Church, be baptized by receiving the Sacrament of Baptism, and live accordingly to be saved. Our Lord said, "Whoever does not believe will be condemned (Mark 16:16)."
Protestant churches reject the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and, thus, Our Lord Himself, who is the Head of His Church, His Body and Bride (Eph 5:23). They say, "Lord, Lord" and teach partial truth, to allure and deceive unsuspecting souls, mixed with heresies and lies, and lead souls away from the Whole Truth and Life to eternal perdition. They are the ones, who will hear Our Lord say, "I never knew you. Depart from Me, you evil doers (Matt 7:23)," unless repent and convert before death. "Whoever is not with Me is against Me, and whoever does not gather with Me scatters (Matt 12:30)." So, the protestants are against Christ Our Lord and are scattered in numerous denominations.
Open your eyes and come to the Light which is set up on the mountain top for all to see (Matt 5:14) before it is too late, because the public appearance of the Antichrist and his deception are very imminent. Why follow false shepherds and risk your eternal salvation? May God have mercy on your soul and grant you understanding. Amen!
@Hyemin Kwun Roman Catholics rejects the teaching of Jesus Christ. To say you must work through the 'pope' is utter nonsense. Only through Jesus can you be saved. Jesus is the temple, and the Holy Spirit is the Helper who when we repent of our sins and then be baptized with water in the water. You personally must repent, die to self. And then be baptized in water for the remittance of sins. That is the first death. I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” Mark 1:8 NKJV Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. John 3:5 NKJV Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 NKJV A baby cannot repent. Neither can anyone exept Jesus save you. And that is NOT through WORKS. True repentance is compared to a marriage with Jesus Christ. Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began. Acts 3:19-21 NKJV bible.com/bible/114/act.3.19-21.NKJV
Thank you for this. As a Calvinistic Baptist, I have been teaching these differences for several years. May the LORD continue to bless you and your ministry.
I appreciate the way you presented different perspectives with respect. This approach is rare on the internet even among Christians with different viewpoints. It was refreshing and informative. Thanks!
Years ago, I was introduced to Christ by a very wise pastor. He was 3 yrs away from retiring, he was up there, and, well definitely up there.. He was a very smart learned man. He had bibles in his office in every language and at least a dozen bibles 1500 down to 900. He even had a copy of a gospel and a half of Aramaic. And of course, Greek and Hebrew and other languages of newer bible's. What he explained about this, would take too long for a comment section. But basically, they're both true. The Word of God clearly says we were predestined, chosen in many places and many words that meant the same. Then of course he clearly showed me were it say this day we chose, and of course many other places that clearly show that human beings have to be reached so they can turn to Christ. Why else were the apostles spreading the Gospel? Why are we told to tell others about Jesus and so one. It was just to illustrate how they were both clearly a fact in the bible. And to us, he said, it's a contradiction, but it's really not. If not a contradiction, than how do you explain this I asked They're both in there, so you can't pick and choose. God wouldn't have said it if it weren't true. So that then, they're both 100% true at the same time. Then showed my many scriptures similar to where it says our mind is not like God's mind. In a way, it's simple. We live our lives sharing the good news to everyone and pray they choose Christ and become saved. When we think of chosen, that should give us more joy and confidence in who we are. Not create a belief around it. If the most important job of a Christian is to witness to others, than we must assume it's necessary. This is one of those things the human mind can't makes sense out of. Like how is there only one God but threre are three separate entities who are God. Or like, God always was and there's never a before God. An existing with no time boggles the mind It's brain overload when you even try and make sense out of these type of things. That's where faith comes in. I don't get it Lord, but I trust it is all in your perfect hands. We all know that God already knows everything that's going to happen. Is he a fortune teller? That would be ridiculous to say. If he is the only thing there is, than he he ad to have a hand in its outcome. But not quite in human terms. If it were human terms, then he's playing a game. But I don't see how the Son of God is sent here in human form (another one of those only Gods mind understands) and from then he was still 100% God, but also 100% man. And I don't see the Father sending the Son and for the Son subjecting himself to all sorts of torture, humiliation and death if this where a game. I believe he must be serious and we must understand that over everything else. But he's in control of everything. Nothing happens without him, cause without him, there's nothing. Just stop for a moment and really examine the idea of omnipresence. Bring as many to Christ as you can. But also, don't worry, he has the perfect plan. Take comfort that you understand that he drew you to him. Again it's faith. No sides to pick here. And don't worry, Jesus already won.
Thanks God had been leading me to this same conclusion. That I don’t even have the capacity to lay boundaries and systematize something that began from eternity in the mind and heart of God.
What you said is basically how people like McArthur and MOST Calvinists explain it. Those who try to further explain Predestination, delve into heresy.
I didn't know there was a difference between being Reformed and Calvinist until today. I'm thankful to have come across your video - very clear explanation. God bless you!
well, covenant theology is a must in order to be “reformed”, but i wouldn’t say christian sabbatarianism is something particular for reformed folks. No continental reformed church holds to it, Calvin himself and Bullinger didn’t. It’s something particular to reformed people from england, non-english reformed confessions speek of the sabbath as being abrogated. The Westminster standards are first to speak of the sabbath as moving to sunday and then the congregationalists and baptists took it when they copy pasted the Westminster confession.
The difference is one is no different than the Pharisees which is Calvinist’s and the other back loads works as just more hidden but both are false gospels and require repenting of sins or holiness or discipleship or lordship salvation if it requires YOU to save yourself then you are calling God’s word a lie. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 it can’t be repent of sins or perseverance because then it wouldn’t be saved by the FREE gift by grace through FAITH. Solo fede, faith plus nothing equals salvation. If you trust even 0.01% in your own behavior you haven’t trusted Jesus on the cross and you rob Him of the Glory which you didn’t do. @@TheLionofJudah3183 “if you trust 0,01% in your behaviour you haven’t trusted in Jesus” what about faith? do you trust in your faith? do you trust that because you believed you are saved? isn’t that a behaviour? It buggles me how people can acuse calvinists, of all the others, of preacheng works salvation. Is like they closed their ears to everithing those people say. If there is ant system that is more christocentric is calvinism. In reformed theology Christ earned for you even your conversion so even your faith is a gift and so are good works and so if you don’t have those gifts then it is a sign that you are not born again. But your salvation has been determined from the foundation of the world and faith is the way it is applicated to someone and good works are the fruit of the salvation. None of those things are actually the basis for salvation. No calvinist believes good works are necessary for salvation, but they are inevitable to come after salvation.
@@danoctavian8184 I have no idea what your talking about but anybody who needs to constantly try to be saved (Calvanist reformed Baptist or any ism)isn’t saved for the mere fact that they are not trusting Gods Word by faith for what it says look up John 6:47. Once you believe you already have it everlasting life anyone can come to it unlike what Calvs teach that not anyone can be saved but only the pre destined non free will people which we know is false cuz all people have free will we are not robots God does not make us choose Him just look at the Jews but if you want it explained better just watch any Jacksmack77 video to hear the truth. Anything else and your just like the Pharisees trusting in your goodness(self righteousness) which isn’t a requirement to be saved but rather trusting by faith in why Christ did
This is a very fair and balanced analysis of the distinctions - especially on the distinction between dispensationalist and covenant theology. Maybe one of the best I've heard from covenant theologians. Nice job.
Thanks so much for this teaching and clarity. I listen to all three you mentioned, John MacArthur, Voddie, Baucham & James White and all three have enriched my walk with the Jesus and indirectly mentored me in my reformed journey away from Pentecostalism. Many thanks!
I love my Pentecostal Brothers and sisters. They have sounds doctrine. It’s the third wave of Pentecostalism that gave them a bad name. And the false or neopentecostals are taking over their denomination by appropriating the denomination name of Pentecostals. Most are modalists which is heretical and condemn in one of the fist councils. I am closer to Wesleyan Arminianism but I still also love Reformed and Calvinist brothers. The one thing that unites is the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We always know when we have said, thought, done, something and just brush it under the rug, but praise be to God for conviction. Don't we want to serve him with a pure heart in any moment? John MacArthur is precise in his teaching the word of God, he never yells or talks fast or is loud.
I enjoy some of MacArthur’s preaching but when it comes to soteriology/Calvinism and to cessationism he is heretically wrong. Yes he uses Scripture verses but he is not Scriptural!

This video made me cry briefly and prayerfully because it answers a question I have had for a long time. For several years now, because of TH-cam videos, I have been taught and comforted by the teachings of Dr. Voddie Baucham, Dr. James White, and Dr. John MacArthur. For years I did not know what their denominations were and I did not care. I just knew that they spoke truth. And when the economic shutdown happened in 2020 and John MacArthur reopened his church, he became my hero. No matter what else happens, I will always love and respect him for behaving as Moses did before Pharaoh in allowing his church to be the land of Goshen while Los Angeles and the rest of the world were experiencing a plague of panic. However, I still favor Dr. Baucham and am seeking a church to join that supports Baucham's ministry. This video helps me very much in knowing the differences between the Reformed and Calvinist beliefs (I actually thought they were the same). Thank you so much for this explanation.
John MacArthur is one of the most dangerous heretics around! He attributes the gift of tongues today to the devil, which is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit!
Thank you Joel for these explanations. I am in the Macarthur camp on all this stuff for sure...but I admire all of the other names mentioned too. @@TheLionofJudah3183 I actually agree with everything you said ..other than the calvinists being Pharisees part. I see Catholics as the perfect analogy for that. But yes I’m in total agreement with everything else. I believe that the moment someone takes ANY credit for salvation based on any supposed act or work on his own...that is a false gospel. Man can do nothing without God first giving us our faith...the ability TO believe. We do not somehow conjure it up on our own. We are dead...spiritually dead. Blind and unable to understand or discern anything from the Word of God. Only when God gives us the faith to believe and be saved ...do we believe and have saving faith. Many people get that completely backwards ...and it’s pretty much a pride thing. Man wants some of the glory that belongs 100% to God.
I was trying to explain MacArthur to someone and I said there are no gray areas, sin is sin. No compromises to fit what is accepted by society. I listen to him everyday.

First time here. Stumbled across this video as I’m tying to learn more about these particular nuances of the Baptist faith. You did a wonderful job presenting the information and respecting/loving others in the process. With your voice and look, as well as delivery style, you sort of resemble a member from the Daily Wire. Thanks again!
Hi, just read your comment (a year later 😂)… how has your search gone? Any suggestions re: pastors/ YT videos about non-Calvin & reformed. I’m trying to find a systematic theology book that’s not written by a reformist… I lean towards the Baptist view.
This was so helpful. I listen to all four of you and didn't know these difference, but hear these distinctions often. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain.❤
As far as Dr MacArthur, there is no better teacher. I listen to Voddie as well because I gain from him as well. In fact I asked once what the difference between the two was and the answer I received was there were some differences in Theology. That flew by as there are few that I will listen to and John MacArthur is first and foremost. I can understand him, he's approached a lot about what's going on out there w/govt. He shared the problems he and the church had with Gov Newsome and the lawsuit over keeping the church open. I was very happy the church won in the end. I really respect him. Since I would never be able to see big differences in Theology while he or Voddie were teaching or preaching I'm happy to stay ignorant of it.
Very good teaching video for those of us who are neither Reformed nor Calvinistic. I refer to myself as a Reformed (in more ways than one) Pentecostal and I enjoy listening to both John MacArthur and Voddie Baucham, but I am a staunch Pre-Tribulation dispensationalist! I do hold strongly to the Sola points, so I guess I am a spiritual mongrel of sorts, but I have no problems with either group or their beliefs, though I may not believe in whole all of the theological viewpoints of either group. I just appreciate the firm teaching of the Gospel from either man!
I'm with you. A staunch pretrib reform Christian. The thing I don't understand is when I hear reform believers say God broke his contract with Israel because they broke it first. And they don't think God has any future plans for Israel, which I entirely disagree with. The stance on Israel seems to be the big difference between Reform Baptists and Calvinist Baptists
@@dianeschultzviseth9794 I don’t agree with that either. Christians did not replace Israel. Two distinct groups! Israel is still God’s chosen people and we are grafted in and the book of Revelation is not allegorical! It’s future prophecy of we are experiencing the birth pangs of things which will come to pass!
@@sangwadiana3356 I stick to theGospel and the scriptures and how it is taught. Plus i have a strong spirit of discernment coupled with research. This all keeps me in line. Much prayer, my friend, too.
Excellent summation! I particularly appreciated your distinction regarding the two gospels: Roman Catholicism and Baptist/Reformed Baptist. You articulated your position well. Your explanation of the differences between Reformed Baptist and Calvinistic Baptist was equally appreciated especially drawing the distinctions of two prominent preachers. I understand better! I would have liked to have seen it 4 years ago as I was seeking the historic and orthodox church. Anyone seeking the Orthodox teachings of the Apostles can now easily understand where the lines are drawn between Calvinist and non-Calvinist gospels. Your gospel is the Five Solas. Rome's gospel (Eastern Orthodox as well) rejects outright two of the Five Solas; specifically Faith ALONE & Scripture ALONE. Thank you!

Am I the only one who doesn't give a hill of beans about who agreed to what conference? I judge a man on the doctrine that proceeds forth from his mouth and I scrutinize it with scripture via the Holy Spirit. I've listened to John MacArthur for 20+ years, even before I was saved. I have listened to Voddie Baucham for the last few years since he's became big on TH-cam. Both are an absolute blessing to the soul. Honestly I listen to MacArthurs Grace to You app almost daily. Not because I have some attachment to him, but because the words that proceed forth from his mouth are biblical focused and are only concerned with teaching and giving God the glory- and I desire to know nothing among any of them other than Christ Jesus and him crucified. Both have spoken biblical truths. Both are men who are clearly Holy Spirit led. I don't agree with them on all things but both men are defenders of the scriptures and contend for the faith. My eyes are on God, not councils and I'll be honest- I'm not a play church kind of guy and I understand at the head of most religious councils you find absolute corruption because of money, so I don't understand why anyone gives any attention to that other than historical reference. Thank you for the break down.
And having studied to a deep understanding of Calvinism, who is Grace for? It would be a lie and a false Hope for those Predestined to hell. It would be just another word for those predestined to the Book of Life......
Love MacArthur’s series, “Why Every Calvinist Should Be a Premillennialist,” Parts 1-6. We should be respectful in our investigations so as not to misrepresent those who “appear” to be in another particular theological camp. We’re responsible, as individual Believers, to check out and test whatever we’re being taught as truth. Please do so with this video, as well.
Dr MacArthurs eschatology is spot on. So many problems with the postmil position that it’s astounding that anyone would fall for it. The idea that the world is getting better and better or will before Jesus comes is preposterous.
Jesus is not coming back in the flesh. You need to read you Bible, have Bible studies, pray, and fast. How can Jesus come back in the flesh when he already died and is in Heaven right now? Jesus already did his fleshly assignment. Jesus will return in the spirit. But go ahead and think Jesus will return in the flesh. You will be worshipping the antichrist. I'm telling you right now.
I love your comment. I'm premillennial and was raised by a minister dad who believed and taught that doctrine when lots of ministers didn't understand it.
Post-MIll is considered the optimistic eschatological view. Christ will return when the nations come under his feet, as the good news spreads over the whole world.
@@slpplz Post-Mill conveniently ignores the truths told in Revelation. Just remember, the Roman Catholic church is proudly the inventor of the post-millennial view because they think the Catholic church is more authoritative than the scripture of Revelation.
@@RightResponseMinistries if I may be so blunt, there is no real difference between Calvinistic and Reformed Baptist is there? So why are they called by two different names? It just complicates a rather simple decision of whether or not you like to keep the sabbath or not and whether you like to read the Bible this way or that. It simply does not require a different sub category of Christianity. We all believe the same truth, yet we put difference between brothers as Paul and Peter, as though they were anything. We are Christ, the very body of him, and have need to be consolidated beyond these simple distinctions in doctrine. Else, how could Paul have spoken of observing the day or not observing the day before the Lord. How then can it be a different Christianity if they have not spoken a different gospel?
@@RightResponseMinistries The point was that i was referring to Galatians, where, for whatever reason, they were putting differences and factions in the church by using the Apostles' names to specify what they adhered to and what they believed. Also, I wouldn't actually know that. How is it that the Apostle Peter can say that there are things he doesn't understand of Paul, if they had no doctrinal differences? It would have to be that there were some if he didn't understand everything he was saying, even if inevitably came to agree. He wasn't a man given to listening to anything people said, even if they were brethren.
the only difference is ppl have found a new way to persecute the sinner, God loves me the sinner not you you need to stop being a sinner and be a better person.
I've come to the conclusion that all of us will be surprised when we die and are in heaven. Then we will have full knowledge and will be truly worshipping at the feet of Christ. In the meantime I'll just keep reading and studying the Bible, attending church and fellowship with believers, and tell people i follow Jesus.

I honestly would tell you it is not worth it. Here is my question to you: do you want to know what Jesus said, or do you want to know what people have said Jesus said? I believe ghe love of Christ constrains us to hear what he would have to say about his word directly rather than indirectly. The whole point of the Spirit indwelling us is to show us the things of God directly as indirectness was how God dealt with unbelieving Israel. What, then, profits us in reading Confessions of Faith, and Chirch Covenants and Doctrines by the dozens to understand what heading we come under? We are all the children of God and that without difference and without contention. For there is no difference.

@@KristiLinauer We are not to put our trust in any brother or pastor or wise man, but in God alone. It is fine to listen to them for understanding, but it is unnecessary to look to them for understanding in righteousness and reproof of instruction when we have the Bible for this very same purpose. If you want to know something or understand it, go the rather to scripture and listen to God. Refuse to know anything, but what God will tell you, not what others have heard from God. Step out on a ledge called faith that allows God to do a new thing through you, not what he has done through others. This is our calling in Christ and our convocation in him as his priests.
Excellent explanation. I appreciate the video. This answered many of the questions I’ve had recently about the differences between the two positions. Just as impressive, you did it in 17 minutes!
I appreciate the detail in this presentation. Clearly, you (among others) have given these issues/perspectives some serious thought. I think that every believer should "wrestle" with these views. It really does help us to understand what we believe and be able to explain it. It adds depth to our overall understanding of the Faith. But I have to admit that what stands out to me is whether a person has began to submit to and follow Jesus. The rest is "family" talk. Above the esoteric is whether we choose to follow and believe Jesus. My wife told me once, "Don't get so learned that you forget about Christ." She is on to something... Blessings brother! You rock!
I like your sentiments, there's an African saying that goes like "the woman's word is embraced in the early morning" she certainly was on everything !''
Think about Jesus' teaching within the Gospels and ask yourself how He would feel about this entire discussion? I would say it is akin to the questions He received regarding the Apostles picking grain to eat on the Sabbath. It's tradition, it muddies the meaning and gist of the gospel message. Jesus is Love and He calls us through His Holy Spirit to choose Him and accept the price that He paid for all people for our sin. When we choose to accept His payment and call Him Lord, we are saved. If we have no right or ability to choose or deny the Payment He has paid (grace), then there is no unforgivable sin (denying of the Holy Spirit). The fact that we are able to choose to accept Him doesn't cause pride for us, because it is by His Grace alone that we are able to obtain our Salvation. All that being said, these ultimately are rib breakers and not back breakers. Anyone who does this is indeed saved, whether or not they feel they had a choice to do so. Labels and Religion "tags" are a tool for Satan to divide. Truth is truth. God bless all of you.
Thank you for this so much! I was Catholic for 36 years. Never heard the gospel. Met Jesus, became born again by the Holy Spirit and began reading the Bible. Saw so many things we, as Catholic were saying and doing, and eyes were made wide open to see how many things we as Catholic were wrong. But I do hear Christians in my church not knowing the true Catholic doctrine thinking Catholics are saved. They believe that because Catholics believe in Jesus they are saved.
Sadly, Roman Catholics believe in a different Jesus, from a different spirit [see 2 Corinthians 11:3-4]. The Jesus of the Catholic church needs to be sacrificed again and again through the mass [compare w/Hebrews 10:10]; has Mary as co-mediatrix [compare w/1 Timothy 2:5] and co-redeemer [compare w/Galatians 3:13; 1 Peter 1:18-19]; is not able to save from the fires of purgatory [compare w/Hebrews 7:25]; requires a person to earn salvation through their own works rather than trusting in the work which He did once and for all [compare w/John 6:28-29; Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 10:14]; is not able to assure someone who believes in him that he will have eternal life [compare w/1 John 5:13]; and the list goes on and on. In actuality, Roman Catholicism trusts in everything and everyone else except Jesus Christ the Son of God of Scripture, and in so doing, ensures the masses will be thrown into the lake of fire, all the while promising access to God and heaven through trusting in the Roman Catholic church [compare w/John 14:6]. However, God has already foretold the destruction of the church of Rome [compare w/Revelation 17:1-18:24; 1 Peter 2:1-3; Matthew 7:13-14]. May we believe in the Jesus Christ the Son of God of Scripture and study and know the Scripture so that we will know the real Jesus Christ and not the false christ's of so many made up religions [compare w/Matthew 24:23-26; Acts 17:11; 2 Timothy 2:15]. May God help us....

Man makes everything way more complicated than God does. Here's a scripture that may help, John 14:26. Of course there are many, but when i read this, it changed my perspective. Pray, read/study scripture, and find a church that preaches the whole scriptures. It's like learning to walk, you stumble at first, but one day you take off running...🕯
These differences are fairly logical. As Biblical scholars/preachers, you either have to create 1. clearer/sharper DISPENSATIONS, ages of say the Old Testament, before Christ, and New T., after Christ, as well as in regard to Revelations: into the new age, and Christ's return. OR you will need to read the Old T. through the lens of the New, after Christ and see/hear God speaking in a more spiritual or 2. ANALOGICAL way with different persons representing as TYPES either Christ or our life as Christians: Abraham, David etc. something the New T does do itself also (see Hebrews...)

Can we please just keep it simple & explain this to people in basic terms that can be understood & remembered? All these big words are so confusing 🙏🏽❤️💪🏽✝️🙌🏽🤦🏽♀️
Agree. Seems petty cat fighting in my opinion. As long as a church is preaching salvation only through faith in Christ's death on the cross then that's good enough for me.
Some people are fed and prefer to keep things simple. Other people are fed by digging deep and being scholarly. Neither is wrong as long as you are Born again and are growing in the faith. No need to be critical of others who are not like you or critical of yourself because you are not like them. The Lord made us all different.
Amen!
@Hyemin Kwun and this Catholic nonsense is why we must study theology, so we don't fall for bad ideas like pretending your church organization is the and thing as Jesus, and your false god the "vicor of Christ" pope is set up as a replacement Jesus (an anti-christ). Peter is not "the pope". There is so much bad theology in Catholicism and it takes study of scripture to see it. But catholics don't give scripture authority, they give themselves authority over scripture.

I was in a Reformed Baptist church for 6 yrs..terrible spiritual abuse, and legalism. It took several years to recover... the Lord sent me to a loving small church. The pastors were Master's Seminary grads.. it had balance and was a healthy church.. I went to several churches in various camps before. Its so hard to find good churches. ...
I have had difficult experiences in both Calvinistic and Reformed Baptist Churches, even though I am strongly Calvinistic. I have to say, we all need to be more patient with each other! Having said this, America has few healthy churches, God have mercy on us and change our hearts.
Sounds like you had a chill for their Antinomianism. I hope what you termed Legalism wasn't warnings and exhortations to live a sanctified Christian life. The first camp warns believers while the second allows your mind to guide you. Blessings!
Reformed and spiritual abusive and legalism are contradictory terms. Sounds like a church was calling itself “Reformed” and yet had no earthly idea what that means. I know of nothing in Reformed doctrines that promote or condone spiritual abuse or legalism. Calling oneself a Christian and habitually living like the world demonstrates that person is not a Christian. Likewise with calling oneself reformed and living in contradiction to that.
Oh goody. Here's something we can debate about for a long time. But even if we never find the truth, at least it will take our minds off our troubles and the things we are afraid of.
Thank you for that well thought out and articulated response to that question. Admittedly I have not researched it in detail, but I have always been curious about what a Reformed Baptist is. This has been a valuble insight. I will have to look up the Baptist Confession of Faith you mentioned. God bless.

I don’t know that John MacArthur has ever called himself a “Baptist” although I cannot think of anything he teaches that is not Baptist. I cannot get away from all the prophecies that demand a future role for Israel so I agree with MacArthur’s (leaky) dispensational premillennial view and am therefore content with being a “Calvinistic” Baptist. Thank you for the explanation!

I listen to both John and Voddie and many others. They both use the Word of God/Christ and they do so also in their defense (Christ is our advocate). From what I hear and read, they lean not on their own belief (understanding), but rather the Word of God/Christ. They have different views of the rapture of the church (understandings), which to me makes no never mind. I will not be alive during that time and it's not an important issue. The importance - Grace of God, through faith and belief (in the Word of God/Christ), in Christ (the way, the truth and life), by the Works of the Holy Spirit, all for the Glory of God. Whether we eat, drink or do, we do for the glory of God. I enjoy listening to many of the teachings from those mentioned within, but also the Questions and Answers. During these Questions and Answer videos there are people like John M, Voddie B, Paul Washer, R.C, Steven Lawson, Stephen Nichols and many others. Some of them done at the Reformation Bible College, the Ligonier Ministries and some at Grace Community Church.
Thank you sir very informative and helpful. These types of differences are sometimes not spoken of clearly or concisely and are important for true believers to understand and be knowledgeable about. I am glad to have come across this post because I've learned something that's not presented enough for the benefit of the congregants.
I think this video was helpful. I’ve been wrestling with this but didn’t know it was THIS! I am a reformed Baptist. And I go to a Calvinistic Baptist church! Amazing!
Calvanism is not worshiping the same God. To teach someone they were created for hell, have no choice but hell, just got God's joy. Is not the God of the Bible. There is no difference between, calvanism, Muslim, catholic, Hindu. Calvanist chose to walk away from the Word of God to follow a man. A man no less who was a Catholic priest and just claimed salvation. The God speaks directly against this.
@@paulofell9939 Hey Paul. I don’t think you understand what Presbyterian’s believe if you think they teach that humans don’t have a choice. Presbyterians do believe people have a choice, but humans don’t naturally seek God. Paul talks about this in Romans 3:10-11. The fault is still on humans because we have been given consciouses that tell us there is a God. Instead of asking for God’s help to remove impure desires, humans brush their wickedness under the rug and create lies to try and justify themselves. I was guilty of this myself before coming to faith. John 1:12-13 explains that the will of man is naturally in opposition to acknowledging God. There are many more verses and passages that I could also share as well, but these are just a few. Hope this helps.

Im a reformed Calvinist through & through. I would also side more with Voddie than John McArthur. Either way they both are brothers in Christ. I also hold to the Westminster confession of faith.
The Westminster confession of faith is not as authoritative as the Council of Trent. Since the Council of Trent had the authority of the Chair of Saint Peter, which overides the Westminster confession of faith, which had no authority. Go with authority. Not non-authoritative proclamations of faith.

Outstanding analysis of the distinctions between Reformed Baptist and Calvinistic Baptist. My frustration is that for years I have found myself to be a combination of both camps. I am not Sabbatarian which would put me more over on the Calvinistic Baptist side (Like John MacArthur), but for decades I have held to a Covenant Theology hermeneutic rather than Dispensationalism. That would put me more in the Reformed Baptist camp. Both movements have preachers and teachers that I dearly love and respect. I wish I could be all in one camp or the other but it is what it is.
I ask this question not to be controversial but honestly for my own sanity, Does being a Folloer of Christ require all of the complexities of doctrine? Or do I just Love the Lord and keep his commandments and love my neighbor as myself?
When you love someone, you naturally want to spend time with them. You want to know them. It's no different with our relationship with God. But because we must wait to enjoy the physical presence of God, we go to the Scripture, led by the Holy Spirit, to spend time with and know God. This naturally leads us to learning all the various doctrines the Bible teaches. This also protects us from false teaching that can lead us astray. So, yes, learning doctrine is part of being a follower of Jesus. That being said, not every individual has the same passion and desire to really dive deep into doctrine. What I mean is not everyone is going to want to learn Greek and Hebrew to better understand the original manuscripts of Scripture, not everyone is going to spend their time dissecting the difference in various positions regarding secondary issues, and not everyone is going to read dense theology books in their spare time. And honestly, as good as that stuff is, it can become a distraction from actually doing what God has called you to do in reaching the lost around you and serving your local church. Good doctrine should always lead us to a deeper love for the Lord and a deeper love for those around us. If it stops doing that then we've become more focused on being right than doing right. Sorry for the long answer, but I hope this helps! God bless!

@@TheLionofJudah3183hat's true, it's 100% the work of God, our sin and our obedience to the law does not affect our salvation but I'd have to disagree with your assumption that calvinism is a works based theology. @@TruthIsAsOldAsYah I think things went off track as a result of the Protestant reformation. Nobody recieved divine revelation from God that it was the will of God to form new Churches. Either Jesus built the Church on Saint Peter, who later traveled to Rome where the true Church was established. Or Peter established the true Church there, then it became a false Church thus requiring a new singular Church to be formed. But it can't be that Saint Peter's Church, which is the Catholic Church fell into schism and the solution was 3000000 denominations. That obviously isn't possible. That's just one man's logical processing of all these different denominations. They have to be mostly all false.

@@TheLionofJudah3183 I want to believe that we just believe and we are saved and that is the narrow gate Christ talked about. But the reality is that the Bible is complex and you only show snippets which seem to support this idea, but then are shot down once you look at the entirety of the bible. Sola Fide isn't a perfect doctrine and in fact has alot of problems one of the biggest ones is reconciling the idea that under Sola Fide you become righteous. This is a problem because under Martin Luthers doctrine of Sola Fide one can never increase in righteousness. That contradicts the protestant understanding of sanctification.
Hey Josel, thank you so much. Would be interesting to do a video on fundamentalism vs evangelicalism. Spencer Smith has some interesting things to say about those. His motto is doctrine matters.
Spencer is crazy Mary. I've watched his channel and he supports crazy false ideas like "The Baptist Church was never part of the reformation, we never came out of rome we were never in it" He prescribes to crazy crazy ideas that they existed since the time of Christ which has been shot down as a lie multiple times. Sorry to rip that band aid off, but it's all true, I've done my homework on Spencer. "Some Baptists believe that there has been an unbroken succession of Baptist churches from the days of John the Baptist and the Apostles of Jesus Christ. Others trace their origin to the Anabaptists, a 16th-century Protestant movement on the European continent. Most scholars, however, agree that Baptists, as an English-speaking denomination, originated within 17th-century Puritanism as an offshoot of Congregationalism." Spencer subscribes to this unfounded, and debunked idea that the earliest Baptist Church's which nobody knows where they were or can even verify this myth went back all the way to the time of Christ. Basically Spencer wishes the baptist Church had the Catholic true Church's history of Apostolic Succession. He has Catholic authority envy since the baptist church definitely cannot trace it's history all the way back to the Apostles. He hates being lobbed in with the rest of the Protestant Reformation, even though that is the true origin of the Baptist Church.
This is such a great video! I get confused between denominational differences. Would you ever make more videos on comparing denominations? Like Baptists and Congregationalists is one that I am always interested in

@@jannepetersen4660 okay…..none of the things you just said are correlated. God can use animals…it doesn’t mean they have a soul. He could speak through a piece of furniture if he chose, but those don’t have souls. You really think Balaam’s donkey was just a talking donkey? The passage literally says the Lord opened the animal’s mouth…that had nothing to do with the animal being intelligent or having a soul. And how does Jesus being depicted as a lion indicate animals have a soul?? Anyway, most of the examples you cited are God using His creation as examples to teach us, because all of creation is at His disposal to do so. None of these examples support your claim…you’re just fitting them into your argument like misshapen puzzle pieces. Whether or not animals do have a soul is something none of us can definitively say because the Bible does NOT indicate it, but that’s not what I’m here to argue. My issue is this…for you to claim that you 100% know animals have a soul/go to heaven and use bad examples that don’t actually support your argument. To make a solid claim that the Bible doesn’t back up…that’s false teaching too, don’t you think? And as a footnote…being a Calvinist has zero to do with this 🤣 I know plenty of non-Calvinists who don’t believe animals go to heaven.

Instead, you hear "you believe the truth so you're saved"
"You believe Jesus is real" so you're saved...
May we all cry out:
My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' Blood and Righteousness!
@Fisher Man Do Armenians ever ask you if you are Calvinist? If so, do you answer the same?
@Fisher Man me either, nor have I ever met anyone who called themselves a Calvinist. Not even at MacArthurs Masters College
I love Johnny Mac and Voddie. They have been a wealth of wisdom of Biblical truths and I believe both men are ordained by God to preach the gospel.
what's interesting is the fact that many don't know or understand that even though Reformation is found in Scripture its not referring to the Calvinistic Theology that's floating around out there, in case one doesn't understand
However when it comes to the verse speaking of Conformed and Predestination which is Romans 8:29
i haven't really heard them mention this
and Calvinism isn't a sure fire way to know God,
God does all the work, and sadly even reformed preachers teach that we have some decision to make or choice
no one has any choice in the matter of Salvation, God has already done this and still continues to do so
and what i'm saying is that even though i'm not a Calvin, i believe in the T.U.L.I.P. part of the theology

Calvinism and Reformed Theology are the harmful and clearly unbiblical beliefs that we need to separate us from.
Why have you put difference between you and your brother then? For I have seen Voddi Baucham preach and he has told no lie. It's a fleshly device to put differences between brothers for slight differences in doctrine. @@florinbirsan2223 What is the mark of the beast to you?
Being a Pastor of a church that is moving more towards being Reformed Baptist, making this distinction is essential.

You know macarthur said the blood of Jesus is not necessary (important)for salvation?
@@random-JYou should look at his full answer. Whether intentionally or no, you are lying about his position. MacArthur focuses on the importance of the death and resurrection of christ and was denying any magical property in the blood alone as if Jesus could have accomplished his purpose on earth by going to Red Cross and donating blood without actually dying. The symbolism of the blood is meaningless if it is not shed as a sacrifice for sin and paid with death for the death we owe to God for our hatred and rebellion against Him.

So, enemy of my enemy is my friend….so to speak of course
Amen!

How is a man justified before God?
@Hyemin Kwun Roman Catholics rejects the teaching of Jesus Christ.
To say you must work through the 'pope' is utter nonsense. Only through Jesus can you be saved.
Jesus is the temple, and the Holy Spirit is the Helper who when we repent of our sins and then be baptized with water in the water.
You personally must repent, die to self. And then be baptized in water for the remittance of sins.
That is the first death.
I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
Mark 1:8 NKJV
Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
John 3:5 NKJV
Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:38 NKJV
A baby cannot repent.

So glad my late husband left the Catholic Church and chose to follow Jesus.
Thanks!
Agree. As he said he was 'iron-manning' John MacArthur not straw-manning MacArthur.
That was extremely helpful to me❤
Years ago, I was introduced to Christ by a very wise pastor.
If not a contradiction, than how do you explain this I asked
They're both in there, so you can't pick and choose.
An existing with no time boggles the mind
It's brain overload when you even try and make sense out of these type of things.
Wow! What a comment! Thank you for sharing this much of your wise old teacher's knowledge.
Amen
After listening to Joel through his presentation my mind was still in a fog, but am grateful I read your response. Thank you for sharing.

This is a great video. This is one of the most loving explanations of the differences between these guys.
If Christianity is the true faith why didn't the Most High mention them from the beginning? He is coming for His 👰 bride and that is ISRAEL not what ever man made has come up with. He is the same Yesterday, Today, & Forever. You can't just believe half of half is not true period it is written. If you love me obey my commands. He will love the one that love Him back by obedience. Works without faith and vice versa is dead dead dead. Walking in the spirit is? (Romans 7:14,7:22)For we know that the Torah is Spiritual, but I am fleshly, sold under sin. For I delight in the Torah of Elohim according to the inward man.
Acts 28:23-24 KJV And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God/Elohim, persuading them concerning Jesus/Yahshua, both out of the Law/Torah of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening. And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.
Just like today some believed not. Just faith alone is dead it's about Both Ministries. Revelation 14:12)
Matthew 7:21-23 ts2009 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Master, Master,’ shall enter into the reign of the heavens, but he who is doing the desire of My Father in the heavens. “Many shall say to Me in that day, ‘Master, Master, have we not prophesied in Your Name, and cast out demons in Your Name, and done many mighty works in Your Name?’ “And then I shall declare to them, ‘I never knew you, depart from Me, you who work lawlessness!’

I believe what is written. From the words origin that's why I study from strong's to ancient hebrew dictionaries. In the Millennial Reign He will teach us again from the Torah.(Micah 4:2 )And many nations shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of יהוה, to the House of the Elohim of Ya‛aqoḇ, and let Him teach us His ways, and let us walk in His paths. For out of Tsiyon comes forth the Torah, and the word of יהוה from Yerushalayim.
“Many shall say to Me in that day, ‘Master, Master, have we not prophesied in Your Name, and cast out demons in Your Name, and done many mighty works in Your Name?’ “And then I shall declare to them, ‘I never knew you, depart from Me, you who work lawlessness!’

lawlessness; the utter disregard for God's law (His written and living Word).
good discussion thanks!! Theonomy and Post -Mil conference sounds awesome!!
Thanks for the clarity. I now know that I’m strongly a Calvinistic Baptist.
“Rapture” theory is not biblical and leaky
I love John Macarthur but his 'Loser Eschatology' is quite off-putting
@@toolegittoquit_001
What is that?
Wow! A postmillennial conference! That sounds exciting! The only conference in town with nothing to look forward to!😮
I love your comment. I'm premillennial and was raised by a minister dad who believed and taught that doctrine when lots of ministers didn't understand it.
Good one! 😁
We absolutely have everything to look forward to! Christ will return and reign in His kingdom! Praise God!
Your description of the differences between the Reformed and Calvinistic views reveals a Pastor’s heart.
May God raise up more men like you.
Thank you.
@@xavierthomas5835 there were no doctrinal differences between Paul and Peter.

This was very helpful! Now I know I’m at least Calvinistic. I just need to read the 1669 Baptist Confession of Faith to see what that’s all about. I agree with you on the two specific points you brought up-the sabbath and covenant theology. I look forward to reading it!
I think that was 1689 Baptist Confession not 1669.
@@xavierthomas5835 Am I to believe that you only ever read the Bible, and never read anything about the Bible, Jesus, doctrine, or theology written by other Christians? No books? No commentaries? @@KristiLinauer We are not to put our trust in any brother or pastor or wise man, but in God alone. No where in the Bible does Jesus change the Sabbath from the seventh day to the first day of the week!
Excellent explanation. I appreciate the video. This answered many of the questions I’ve had recently about the differences between the two positions. Just as impressive, you did it in 17 minutes!
Thanks so much!
Sadly, Roman Catholics believe in a different Jesus, from a different spirit
[see 2 Corinthians 11:3-4]. The Jesus of the Catholic church needs to be sacrificed again and again through the mass [compare w/Hebrews 10:10]; has Mary as co-mediatrix [compare w/1 Timothy 2:5] and co-redeemer [compare w/Galatians 3:13; 1 Peter 1:18-19]; is not able to save from the fires of purgatory [compare w/Hebrews 7:25]; requires a person to earn salvation through their own works rather than trusting in the work which He did once and for all [compare w/John 6:28-29; Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 10:14]; is not able to assure someone who believes in him that he will have eternal life
[compare w/1 John 5:13]; and the list goes on and on. In actuality, Roman Catholicism trusts in everything and everyone else except Jesus Christ the Son of God of Scripture, and in so doing, ensures the masses will be thrown into the lake of fire, all the while promising access to God and heaven through trusting in the Roman Catholic church [compare w/John 14:6]. However, God has already foretold the destruction of the church of Rome [compare w/Revelation 17:1-18:24; 1 Peter 2:1-3; Matthew 7:13-14]. May we believe in the Jesus Christ the Son of God of Scripture and study and know the Scripture so that we will know the real Jesus Christ and not the false christ's of so many made up religions [compare w/Matthew 24:23-26; Acts 17:11;
2 Timothy 2:15].

Thank so much for this very articulate explanation. It definitely clarified a lot of questions for me.

Indeed to love God, love our neighbors as ourselves, as we are compelled to use our blessing & gifts in the work... Of an Evengelist. Sharing the blessed joy that is only found in Jesus Christ.
This was a very helpful and well-articulated explanation. Thank you for your clarity and succinctness. (This level of clarity is infrequent.)
Wow!! After listening to this my head is spinning, why do I feel that we are complicating our Christian faith which in my opinion confuses people &makes you feel like you truly don’t understand what it is to be truly saved, All I know is that I love Jesus with all my heart & soul &I just want to be obedient to him & live my life according to his will, I just hope I don’t have to try to explain all these differences in these complicated theologies & doctrines.

The pastors were Master's Seminary grads.. it had balance and was a healthy church.. I went to several churches in various camps before. Its so hard to find good churches. ...
Legalism is indeed a problem for many in the reformed baptist camp.

Very, very interesting. Thanks for the excellent explanation.
Short but great explanation.

Wow…you could not make the gospel more complicated! It is sin and death (spiritual death) through Adam and the forgiveness of sins and the restoration of the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ…that’s it! Don’t make it more complicated than it has to be!!!
So...God made it all too complicated? Is that what you are saying? How does that attitude fit in with 2Tim.2:15 or Acts:20:26-27
God bless!
As a Presbyterian in the comment section , it's great that you made a video to actually point out this difference. I see a lot of people who identify, especially with MacArthur's framework of theology considering themselves as reformed baptists, even though he isn't reformed theologically (in terms of characterisations of it, (which is fine) because I think affirming calvinism has become the marker of being 'reformed.'
Indeed, Reformed doesn't always mean Calvinist, though tends to be Calvinistic to some degree or another, Reformed definitely is more broad than merely Calvinistic.

@@TheLionofJudah3183hat's true, it's 100% the work of God, our sin and our obedience to the law does not affect our salvation but I'd have to disagree with your assumption that calvinism is a works based theology. Calvinism does not equal lordship salvation, a lot of calvinists believe lordship salvation (which is absolutely false) but that doesn't mean that calvinism itself is wrong. This is a major issue for a lot of believers that hold to free will, they assume that calvinism = works salvation but what they're really attacking is lordship salvation and the teachings of guys like John MacArthur, Paul Washer and other lordship calvinists. I think things went off track as a result of the Protestant reformation.
@@TruthIsAsOldAsYah
That's just it. There cannot be multiple Churches and the Church cannot be just a collection of like minded believers. The problem is that Christians like yourself veered away from the teachings of the bible.
It's not about right its about the truth. The truth is Jesus only built one Church and that wasn't any of the Protestant denominations. The details matter. I don't believe the Bible teaches we go my scripture alone, I believe Protestants just misinterpret scripture. It's fine if you disagree, but I have yet to find a protestant who can truthfully answer where the Bible says we go by scripture alone, and I haven't found one yet that shows that we are justified by faith alone.

I want to believe that we just believe and we are saved and that is the narrow gate Christ talked about.
Thank you for clarifying and doing so in a respectful manner as I respect all the men you mentioned in the video.
Hey Josel, thank you so much. I have always wondered why as a Calvinistic (not sure why baptist is added) evangelical, dispensationalism, I found so many like-minded brothers who were not dispensationalism. I'm coming late to the MacArthur party (we brought in a Masters Seminary Pastor), but aligned pretty much after I learned and affirmed the SOLA & TULIP doctrines. Which is why my youtube also started to fill up with you, White, and Durbin. Our church has had Voddie speak live, so being aware of the differences we certainly unite on so many issues. I totally needed to understand those divisions and indeed was the right question and glad you focused on it. Sorry, I already signed up for Shepherds in the spring but always looking for the rapture before 🙂
Baptist is added because Reformed/Calvinistic Presbyterians believe in infant baptism and Baptists do not. I’m sure there are other, mostly minor, distinctions as well.

I learned more in this one video than I had this last year about who believes what.. So thank you for that. It gets so confusing about who and what and this and that. One video breaking allll of it down would be a blessing to "un-muddy" the waters.
Growing up in the RBC churche circle in the 90’s, there wasn’t a difference between Calvinists and Reformed Baptists. If you were a Reformed Baptist you had Calvinistic theology and held to the LBC of 1689, I remember learning and memorizing the 1689 in Sunday School. Things have come a long way if we are now splitting RBC and Calvinists.

Most scholars, however, agree that Baptists, as an English-speaking denomination, originated within 17th-century Puritanism as an offshoot of Congregationalism."
Spencer subscribes to this unfounded, and debunked idea that the earliest Baptist Church's which nobody knows where they were or can even verify this myth went back all the way to the time of Christ.
Like Baptists and Congregationalists is one that I am always interested in
I used to listen to John Mac,Arthur sometimes, but at one sermon a young girl stood up and asked John about animals in Heaven, he said no there are no animals in Heaven, that did it for me, I left the teaching, and never went back, because that is a falsh preaching.....
@@jannepetersen4660I could understand leaving if he’d said something significantly contrary to Scripture (i.e. something foundational, like how salvation works), but you left because he said one minor, insignificant thing you disagreed with? Whether or not there will be animals in heaven is an opinion that will hardly impact the message of the Gospel, which is the most important thing to get right, but you seemed to find the details of an animal’s afterlife more important.

Saving faith in Jesus Christ does not exist without an integral obedience to Him. That does not mean that we are saved by works. That means that we are transformed by obedience that is integral to faith. Love ya’ll! 😊❤❤❤❤❤
So very TRUE. Faith without works is dead (James) and good works come from obedience to Jesus Christ.
