After renting a 2013 Altima 2.5 for a vacation trip, my wife and I fell in love. Mileage was better than advertised and comfort was amazing. We again rented another 13 model for another shorter trip just to see if the first time was a fluke. Happily it was just the same as before. We hit a dealership after we got back and purchased a new 13 Altima SV April of 2013. We had no problems from the car after putting 24,000 miles exactly on it. On Dec 12th 2014 we traded that car and became the proud owners of a 2015 Nissan Altima SV. We got a better deal and lower interest rate and lower payment. Was not expecting to trade. The Altima is a great car period.

Steering was very responsive, didn't like the braking, too sensitive for my tastes. Love the backup camera and usb charging. Cruse control is great. Also liked the tilt/telescopic steering wheel. Good review but I have to correct the guy; 2015 Altima has electric hybrid steering. This system uses an electric hydraulic steering pump. So all his comments about steering feedback and feel based on steer by wire conceptions are wrong. This car has steering feel that is appropriate for its class. One other point- there are 3 ways to open the trunk; button in the cabin, key fob and push the button on the trunk lid which works if you have the smart key fob in your pocket. Thanks for the review; it appears to be pretty accurate based on my 18 months in a '15 2.5 SV Altima.
Best bang for the buck car and one of the better looking sedans. 2.5 has more than enough power, good visibility and super comfortable seats. I love mine. You can't go wrong with this. Much better than the accord in my opinion also. Treat it well and it will last many years too!

At about 8:20 into the video review, Chris says "It's (the 2015 Altima) actually pretty close to the top of my list". Then at the very end when he does his wrap up, he really just calls the vehicle boring, uninspired, no fun to drive with crappy electronic steering. I think he's being a tad too hard on the Altima. +Douglas Hartt He drives so many vehicles and he explains that. He is constantly experiencing other vehicles that probably outclass the altima in many ways. Like when he drove the ford fusion he was blown away by the electric steering. And he now has a baseline to compare it to. So what he says is pretty accurate compared to what an average guy would rate the car as.
Douglas Hartt yeah he's probably saying you Altimas a good midsize car for the money but in terms of all cars for all things it's kind of plain Jane reliable. I mean I'm surprised you didn't remind us that the Altima doesn't have the towing capacity of a tundra either lol
Obrigado
Interesting comments. I just bought a 2015 Altima 2.5L SV a couple weeks ago, and am still learning the beast (there's a lot of things to learn). Coming from a 1999 Ford Mustang, I had/have some very different opinions about the "sportiness" and handling. First, the really good thing I noticed quickly... lateral stabilizers going around a turn at moderate speed are really nice. I got the feeling of "stickiness" to the road, not even a hint of understeer or oversteer, good tracking. Despite the nice corner handling, I was really surprised at how badly the suspension went over some speed bumps. The shocks were poor and I could feel the suspension bottom out at a fairly low speed when I hadn't experienced this same feel in my Mustang or a 2007 Lexus 350. After going over those speed bumps so badly a few times, I now go over the bumps gingerly. I had a completely opposite opinion as expressed in this video about the power steering. Coming from a muscle car, I enjoy a feel of the road and road vibrations communicated all the way through the steering wheel. I got none of that in this Altima, the feel is more like a luxury car's floating through the road with the tiniest touch to steer like a Cadillac or other large luxury car instead of a sporty, road feel. Heck, the Lexus 350 SUV has more "road feel" than this Altima. Other than these items, I more or less agree with most of what was described in this video. If there was time, I'd probably list a bunch of other things I find attractive in this car. Of course, no review would be complete without at least mentioning the Nissan CVT reputation. I admit that it's a worry that the CVT has such a bad reputation but I hope I won't have to deal with those problems. When you buy used, there's no way to know for sure if any car maintenance was done properly, and now the CVT is probably the biggest worry with the greatest sensitivity to poor maintenance.
The Altima is a decent daily commuter car which is its main purpose. It's not a racer-type car. Nissan removed the cover for the center storage bin as it was included as standard in the 2013-2014 models.
We bought a used (formerly leased) gold 2015 Altima S with a beige interior. We got the beige interior because we felt the black interior would just be too hot during the Summer months. We get about 31.5 mpg city at the moment. Which is way better than my 2007 Buick LaCrosse CXL used to get. Since my son is a hockey player and we have to go out of town for at least one tournament during the season I'm curious to see if the mpg will hit 40 as they estimate. The steering wheel is slightly smaller than previous cars we've had, so that took a little getting used to. But it's nice and loose and steers really well. It took a little getting used to as it tended to make me overcompensate turning corners. And I love the telescoping steering column because it gives me more freedom to position the steering where I feel most comfortable. My only complaints about this vehicle is the headrests and having to get used to a 4 cylinder engine in place of a 6. The car has good pickup when I need it on the freeway or need to get into traffic quickly. But because it has a 4 cylinder 2.5 liter engine instead of a 6 cylinder 3.5 liter engine, once I let up on the gas it does tend to slow down quicker than what I'm used to. When I have the seat back where I like it the headrest still comes forward due to it's design. Which prevents me from putting my head back where I would feel more comfortable. As it is I feel like I have to hunch forward a little which makes my neck muscles feel a little cramped at times.
I would say the steering felt nice and tight which I prefer. I was BLOWN away with the seats and sound damping. Feels better than higher prices sedans....
I use to have nissan altima only problem the passenger side tires kept losing air preasure every week had to keep replacing air..I got feed up..I exchanged it. for a new Toyota rav4 excellent choice.
What is this guy talking about? If you want to feel "inspired" whatever that means than buy a Porsche. The Altima isn't a sports car and for the price and functionality as a family car with a little sportiness and style its a damn good car.
Yea if your that type of person who needs to be inspired they would be looking at the wrong type of cars, maybe the new Mazda Miata would be a better fit for them
+Starfish you can still want to be inspired despite having to buy a midsize sedan. Just because you can't buy a super sports doesn't mean you cant find a car that excites you when you drive. There are family guys and people with lower income that need to drive. If you are going to drive anyways might as well get one that excites you. There are many such cars like the WRX. He is not saying its a bad car. But hes saying there are better options for those looking for more fun and not so conservative and that is true.
+Starfish As someone who purchased a Altima new in 2012, I promise you never be inspired driving one, due primarily to the CVT that sounds like you have a 4 propeller drone under the hood hunting high and low for the correct ratio to satisfy the current conditions. If it weren't for the CVT, I'd highly recommend a Altima, but I can't because of it.
FYI- the CVT has been vastly improved since 2012, no more searching for the appropriate ratio. The Sport mode does a good job of 'learning' your driving style too, it downshifts well when braking and gets to high rpm as quick or quicker than an automatic transmission. CVTs have come a long way from their beginings.
I have a 2012 Altima, looking to upgrade to the 2015 but im shopping similar cars. I'm finding it hard to depart from my Altima or even Nissan because I get excellent treatment at the dealership (my usual, not all) and the car drives great, never had a problem with it mechanically. When I first bought it at 24K miles in 2013, I would call the dealer and complain of a noise but I was told its normal and after a while I adjusted to it, doesn't bother me too much. Can you imagine running and being asked to not breath hard because it sounds abnormal? lol ok! and its nothing compared to that noise the 2015 Sonata produce. Now this guy is right about the look, its not much to look at compared to other Makes in this class but it is a nice car and again drives nice, I almost feel like im driving a sports car, ALMOST. My only gripe with the Altima is the fabric seats. I don't have the option of leather unless I get the SL which is a bummer. The fabric seats suck after a while, the mats quickly form fuzz balls, the seat looks washed and worn, they need to choose better cloths. I got a tough decision to make
watching these videos just makes me glad I live in the UK. Where we descent cars to drive and pick from. The Mazda 6 is is the only car we share with the US we reject everything else
Why would they put a detuned hand-built engine in a family car? I would agree more if you didn't suggest a detuned engine but also there's the fact that this is a fwd car and the gtr drive train is awd. It worked for the juke-r because the juke comes with an awd option but a juke-r also costs $400,000
I have a 2015 Nissan Altima Sedan SL 2.5 LITRE FRONT WHEEL DRIVE AND THEY HAVE RE-CALLS ON THAT YEAR FOR PASSENGER FRONT SEAT AIR BAG GIVES A FALSE READING, THE BACK PASSENGER RIGHT DOOR HAS A TENDECY TO OPEN WHEN YOU PUT DOWN THE WINDOW, AND THE HOOD LATCH ALSO HAS A TENDECY OF UNLOCKING WHERE THE HOOD CAN COME UP, NOT TO MENTION ABOUT EVERY 80 TO 100 THOUSAND MILES YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE PULLIES AND BELTS ON THE CVT TRANSMISSION AND ALSO THE TIMING BELT, BUT THE DEALERS WONT TELL YOU THAT PART . MANY PROBLEMS.
I really like the Altima. I would take it over the Chrysler 200, Chevy Malibu, Mazda6, Subaru Legacy and Toyota Camry. The 2015s are also much more reliable then the 13s and 14s.
I have driven Nissan Altima for almost 3 years now. Only in Thailand we have 2.0 and 2.5 cc. Mine is 2.0 cc coz I am an easy going sorta driver. I bought it at the price of abt USD 42,810. The Nissan Altima's price range in Thailand is around US$ 37,500 - 50,000, and they r CKD. I guess u guys don't have the 2.0 cc in America. Also in Thailand, we call it Nissan Teana, not Nissan Altima. The TWO MISTAKES I made were choosing the beige seats, and getting a black car. Now I see marks, some black or brown spots that are literally, inside the little holes on the cushion. The beige seats come with beige carpet and ceiling. Oh, it is a tragedy. The black car is always with scraches, marks, I drive so carefully, but dont know where those r from. hahahah I am sure to my bone that my next car, I WILL go for black interior, and some other white or bronze or dark silver exterior. Other than that I am super satisfied. The cushion at the back seems to be much more comfy. I love it everytime I get to sit at the back, though only 2 minutes each time....., I feel wow, then I have to forget it, and move back on to my driver's seat....sigh..... All in all, Teana or Altima s a great choice. Oh by the way, when I first got it, it felt kinda sleepy driving it, but the frequent warning system is alarming all the time, so that wakes u up.
Great gas mileage but my transmission blew at 71k.. Regular oil changes and mostly highway miles! Never getting another Nissan. Radiator also went out shortly thereafter 🤷♂️
I just bought my first Nissan Altima two days ago coming out of a truck I had to get used to sitting low again. I must say for a 2.5lt. Thing has sum get up n go when needed and hugs corners like the maxima sv 2017 I test drove. My only complaint is wish they could do a more maxima style body. Other than that I love the car. I got the 2015 Altima sv come with the cold weather package and I'm really digging the sun roof. Also the lights inside and headlights I wish were LEDs. But that my personal opinion.
I bought a 2015 Nissan altama sl with all the options and the technology package. Good car but the cvt transmission makes it difficult to keep the speed limit. Even if you use cruise control.
Everything you said about the Nissan 2015 you are so right I experienced the same issues you had as far as the steering and you hit it right on the head but I love that car though
I hate my SVT Transmission in my 2015 Nissan Altima. In parking lots and I'm leaving all it does is jerk up and down when I'm not expecting it to be doing anything like that. it is a nightmare.
I own 2015 Nissan Altima S. It's a very nice looking car , but good luck on changing a freakin headlight bulb. Also my Altima was on the recall list and had to have work done on it due to the manufacture.
Big wheels equal to rough ride less traction on wet surface. More expensive tire replace cost, and sometimes damaged rims due to low profile. Thank you next video.
You know....there will never be such thing as a perfect car....every one will be inspired by whatever car inspires them... This nissan altima is pretty fresh,I like the cayenne red and beige material and I wouldn't mind having a car like this...but there's no such thing as a perfect car, thats what irritates me with these review videos is the reviewers acting like there will be a perfect vehicle....THERE WONT!!...different strokes for different folks!
I agree with you on the steering, but the 2.5 is such a slug.. Good off the line, but I never felt confident driving this car when quick passing maneuvers were needed. Every car should be like my 435i
That thing with the steering is a bummer. So can you tell me if there is an affordable mid-sized sedan that doesn't have anything about it that makes you want to pull your hair out? Or is there a fairly roomy compact that would make more sense?
😂😂😂 I just got this exact car and yes i can agree the steering dosnt feel right and ive had several cars. You also do feel all the bumps and everything like he says.Im greatful for my car just Not what i was expecting.
I get over 38 M.P.G. so he needs to learn how to drive. Many push the accelerator then the brake and wonder why they only get 22 MPG. The one complaint I have is the drivers seat belt is a pain to connect.
We just got one of these. I was a little iffy about the CVT transmission (metal bands and two pulley's) but we love the car. The electric power steering pump does make a high pitch whining noise that doesn't sound the best but Nissan says it is fine and is a common issue. Other than that, a great, stylish, car to get from point A to point B without using much gas. When we want power, we have a 2001 Chevy Duramax for that. It could probably pull a jumbo jet, and I've beat Corvette's and Mustangs in it, full of tools, and it's a big, heavy-ass truck! Lol. Rant over. Check out my music on my channel. Thanks
+JayePapers My mother has a 2005 Nissan Murano with the CVT. It's 10 years old, has roughly 100,000 miles on it and has no issues at all. Remember in most cases, you'll only get the customers with problems online complaining not the tens of thousands of happy customers. I just ordered one and have full confidence that if you drive it light and as nothing more than your daily commuter, you should be fine.
+JayePapers I purchased a new Altima in 2012, and it the last one too, due primarily to the unsettling sound the trans has been making lately, with ONLY 45K miles on it, theres going to be a few that will last over 100K miles and brag about it, but modern cars should get you 200K from the engine and trans, but the CVT in the Altima will prevent that.
don't listen to ppl about cvt failures. they're just as reliable these days as regular auto. I saw a camry tranny go out at 40k miles and I've heard of nissan cvts go well over 100k with no issues. just depends on who you talk to and their experience.
Thanks for the review. Most cars are going or have gone to totally electronic steering and I think it sucks. Definitely does not feel as safe and responsive as old rack and pinion. On the tires, do sedans really need 19 inch tires? Seriously??? Let me remind you that not to long ago pickup trucks and large cars had 15 inch wheels and somehow they did just fine. 19 inch tires with low profile are not very practical in the rain and snow. These are not sports cars.
If you knew that you would have to spend an additional 25% of the original price to correct a product defect, would you buy it? Such is my case with Nissan. In 2008, my wife and I bought a Nissan Altima at approximately $20K. Last week, the “check engine light” came on. I took it to the dealership and was informed that the CVT transmission needs to be replaced at an estimated cost of almost $5K. I also found out that Nissan CVT has been problematic resulting in Nissan’s decision to extend the warranty from 5 year/60,000 miles to 10 years/120,000 miles. My CVT transmission broke down at 123K. I contacted Nissan and opened a case (#197800-86). Nissan Consumer affairs called me back and informed me that they will NOT cover the cost of repairing the defective transmission. As a long-term Nissan customer, I am very angry and disappointed with Nissan’s decision for its failure to take responsibility for its defective product. It is clear that the arbitrary 10 year/120,000 mile warranty extension, while designed to minimize risk for Nissan, does nothing help a consumer who faultlessly put their trust in Nissan by buying the product. As an Engineer, I have worked on a variety of highly complex products and understand that products do occur. As such, I do not fault Nissan for the defects since it was not life-threatening to me and my family. What perplexes me, is the unwillingness and patent inability to accept responsibility for the defective transmission, which per Nissan dealership’s estimate, will cost approximately $5K to repair (25% of the original purchase price of the car). Which bring me back to the original question: If you knew that you would have to spend an additional 25% of the price to correct a product defect, would you buy it? As one who put his faith in the Nissan brand and the integrity of it leadership, it is my hope that the initial decision not to take responsibility for the defective CVT and the manner in which I have been treated by Nissan is aberration. I hope Nissan will reverse course and take responsibility for the repair of the defective CVT Transmission. Human decency calls for such an action and it is my hope that Nissan will reverse course and do the right thing as expected by a decent company such as yours. Thanks for ear. Ed

This car is perfect . Performance is perfect . The only bad thing is if something falls out your pocket it’s sliding under the seat every time
The Altima is a decent daily commuter car which is its main purpose.
What I hear in this review is all your personal preferences in regards to grill, chrome size, etc. 👎
I love the steering.
Chris, maybe the first time your 'Lane Departure' beeper went off -- and the 'bump' at 11:48 -- you'd just run over the 1st jogger.?
The bin at 8:31 had a cover in 2013-2014 Models but they eliminated it for 2015... Why you might ask? I have no idea
I still love this car and it looks amazing
The fuel gauge doesn't move much because of the size of the gas tank. It probably has the same tank as the V6.
So, would you recommend a Maxima if you want something with more passion? If not, what would be something in a 4 door sedan that is practical and fun?
I would say the steering felt nice and tight which I prefer. I was BLOWN away with the seats and sound damping. Feels better than higher prices sedans....
Richard Williams I have the 17" Alloy but some models have the 18". I can tell the difference on surfaces....I have the SV 2016 Blue
I use to have nissan altima only problem the passenger side tires kept losing air preasure every week had to keep replacing air..I got feed up..I exchanged it. for a new Toyota rav4 excellent choice.
sharissa campbell Toyota makes some great models as well. Why did you go Rav4 verse Camry thou?
I really prefer a small SUV better gas mileage
sharissa campbell Thank a Camry? Wow that's surprising...
What is this guy talking about? If you want to feel "inspired" whatever that means than buy a Porsche. The Altima isn't a sports car and for the price and functionality as a family car with a little sportiness and style its a damn good car.
I'm currently drive one as a rental. For a simple family commuter it does the job very well. If you truly want sporty get the 370z or GTR lol.
2015 marks the third model year for this generation but currently it's only been the 2nd year of its design
Call me crazy but they should do a nismo version with a detuned gtr engine.
Why would they put a detuned hand-built engine in a family car? I would agree more if you didn't suggest a detuned engine but also there's the fact that this is a fwd car and the gtr drive train is awd. It worked for the juke-r because the juke comes with an awd option but a juke-r also costs $400,000
***** Are you saying my comment was stupid or his? Lol
+Kurt Crafton I
Joe Collazo Altima Nismo? 0-60 4.5 seconds with 400 HP.. aaaaannnnndd a $500,000 price tag lol but it would be sick
retuned not detuned
Nissan's will smoke anything else in it's class. Nit-picking the used location
+Robert Schneider If I had to pick between those choices, I'd go with the Subaru Legacy. Just about all of those options are good ones though.
Ever change cvt fluid and radiator fluid during that time?
I have this car and I love it ..... Nothing wrong I have ever found .. Its Great..a great dependable car
You like it still ??
The trunk "thunks" shut? Did you "thunk" of that all by yourself?
I bought a 2015 Nissan altama sl with all the options and the technology package. Good car but the cvt transmission makes it difficult to keep the speed limit. Even if you use cruise control.
I just purchased one for $6,000....hope its worth it
How’s it been?
Everything you said about the Nissan 2015 you are so right I experienced the same issues you had as far as the steering and you hit it right on the head but I love that car though
I like the you brought up the details. Good video.
I love this car it's worth the $ to power to comfort to size awesome
Damn! 3 years already, where's time going?! Geesh.
GREAT REVIEW! He's great at it
My first ever car, i will not let go until the car lets go of me, even when i'm more than capable of getting some expensive AF car nowadays ;)
Good review & great Nissan.
I hate my SVT Transmission in my 2015 Nissan Altima. In parking lots and I'm leaving all it does is jerk up and down when I'm not expecting it to be doing anything like that. it is a nightmare.
The rear seats are extremely in comfortable. Other than that it's probably the best sedan.
What would be the first on your recommendation list, I'm looking for a new car and just would like to know (:
Whats the reliability on this 15 altima? Me and my wife are thinking of buying one.
I own 2015 Nissan Altima S. It's a very nice looking car , but good luck on changing a freakin headlight bulb. Also my Altima was on the recall list and had to have work done on it due to the manufacture.
What type of recall was done
GOOD CAR.
Big wheels equal to rough ride less traction on wet surface. More expensive tire replace cost, and sometimes damaged rims due to low profile. Thank you next video.
I'm actually looking for the Charcoal exterior or Black. Since I'm going to be a first time car buyer this car should be great for me.
You know....there will never be such thing as a perfect car....every one will be inspired by whatever car inspires them... This nissan altima is pretty fresh,I like the cayenne red and beige material and I wouldn't mind having a car like this...but there's no such thing as a perfect car, thats what irritates me with these review videos is the reviewers acting like there will be a perfect vehicle....THERE WONT!!...different strokes for different folks!
you're right and all car brands have defects. I've seen a camry tranny fail at 40k miles. you just never know.
So what would be 1st on your recommendation list?
^^ This!
completely agree with you on the steering assessment.
Great review!
8:55 dude Took a long time to explain rear cross traffic alert, and it is exactly as the name says lol
Chris, what would be the first car on your recommendation list of 2015 mid-size sedans?
That's weird I have the same Altima but mine has a lid right underneath the center console like he he wished there was.
Anyone else notice at the 6.26 mark the guy's shirt is splitting at the seam?
It's a very good relative value
Nissan did a great job on this car....
I don't recommend changing anything !!!
How y’all are you because i’m thinking about getting a Nissan Altima but i’m 6’2
did u buy it?
Juan Don no I bought a dodge nitro instead
I agree with you on the steering, but the 2.5 is such a slug.. Good off the line, but I never felt confident driving this car when quick passing maneuvers were needed. Every car should be like my 435i
I googled the review on nissan altima, they said, the transmission breaks down after 60k miles...
Is this good for a first car? I'm planning to get a car in a couple months
That thing with the steering is a bummer. So can you tell me if there is an affordable mid-sized sedan that doesn't have anything about it that makes you want to pull your hair out? Or is there a fairly roomy compact that would make more sense?
the steering is fine this guy is nuts lol very light and precise
In my 2014 altima 2.5sv I can get 45mpg at 65mph on those long country roads. I can get 30mpg in the city.
i love nissans
I love Altima.👍❤️
I love it! I have this same exact model.. in the same color. My baby!!!🤗😂
😂😂😂
I just got this exact car and yes i can agree the steering dosnt feel right and ive had several cars. You also do feel all the bumps and everything like he says.Im greatful for my car just Not what i was expecting.
Yeah and the ford fusion, which we in the UK called Mondeo
A lot of the Altimas catch on fire. Why is that. I have seen a a lot of videos where most of altimas between between 2005-2013 that caught on fire!
im having a 2006 v6 and it never got caught. still running as new.
Because you burn all of them......
Thanks
is it worth the transmission problems?
Thank you, that was very helpful! How would you compare it a 2015 Civic (EX/EX-L)?
I have a 2009 Altima needs transmission can anyone tell me what yr and possible models are interchangeable?
The car doesn't inspire????? Are you saying the Camry, and Accord do??
Thanks for the review. Most cars are going or have gone to totally electronic steering and I think it sucks. Definitely does not feel as safe and responsive as old rack and pinion. On the tires, do sedans really need 19 inch tires? Seriously??? Let me remind you that not to long ago pickup trucks and large cars had 15 inch wheels and somehow they did just fine. 19 inch tires with low profile are not very practical in the rain and snow. These are not sports cars.
Yea yea still can dust a Audi or any sports car in the area and at least compete against expensive sports cars
Ed
In your honest opinion would you recommend buying a Nissan Altima ? Between a Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Altima, which is the better buy ?
When I close my trunk on this car, i grab the lock and pull with enough force to close it.
I think the SR version has 18" wheel option?
Yes, the SR trim has the 18" wheels.
I have Nissan Altima 2010. 100k km on it ,, no problems at all. So far so good. But I heard that new altima have bunch of problems which is very disappointing. Plus nissan and their dealers don't give a fuck afterward once the car is sold to u which is very true.
that's most dealers on the planet.
This guy sounds like he got paid for this review
