tinfoil hat on, the emperor burning the garden of nurgle allows for an opportunity for isha to be rescued from nurgle, allowing for a narrative of hope for rebirth under isha, ynnead and cegorach

    • @Ottakazi
      @Ottakazi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

So I actually started a custom craftworld I call "ishas chosen". They believe that the way to salvation is to free Isha from nurgle. The other craft worlds don't talk about them because they see them as fools bc of the high cost of Eldar blood that is being shed to do so. They are primarily a wraith army

I mean, hoping to come out alive and well by binding your civilization to the god of death is just unwise. No matter how you define that death, the core principle is still there. Depending on a trickster might not be the best bet, however, a triune effort might balance their strengths and weaknesses.

    • @00yiggdrasill00
      @00yiggdrasill00 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@KaiserAfini This is a hell of an idea and I love it. The idea of "death and rebirth" is tied a little too closely to nurgle for my liking. But a trio working in balance? It also ties into the fractured nature of the Eldar. and really, after all this time Isha has to have a play in mind and as much as the emperor and the imperium has good reason to distrust aliens they need to work together, and big E would see that.

To say that the Eldar are overdue for some new models is the understatement of the decade. They have models still in the range that go back to 2nd edition. Heck if you count reused pieces like the swooping hawk wings then they have models from Rogue Trader that are still being produced.

    • @cyclone8974

@@cyclone8974 My apologies, I should have been more precise in my description. The RT swooping hawk exarch wings were reused for the current resin, previously metal, standard swooping hawks. Just like they reused Baharroth's wings when they re-sculpted the exarch.

Yes it’s almost criminal the range hasn’t been refreshed for almost 30 years.
However, I remember when they made “new” Striking Scorpions & couldn’t believe how blocky and inferior they were to the old “lead” models.
I known injection molded plastic tech. has improved considerably since so I don’t why it’s been kicked down he road.
In addition use of CAD/CAM to design models, instead of hand sculpting should massively speed the refreshment of whole armies…

Yeah I'm getting sick of the Aeldari taking the "L" whenever they show up they always die in droves. Even when the Aeldari "win" it's super bittersweet with a sea of Aeldari corpses being the result of the victory...which is kinda rough for a species trying to survive. *Spoilers* Even the Hammer and Bolter episode that features the Asuryani Warlock, involves a recently obliterated minor craft world...but don't worry the character recovers 1 unbroken soul stone amidst millions of dead! Yay victory! Let's go fist bump the Avatars of Khaine that get worfed all the time to show how awesome something else is. I just want a win, a clear cut win. It could be the discovery of a once thought lost Craftworld with maybe a unique aspect shrine on it. Or maybe the Asuryani realize that technologically they have been stagnant for 10000 years like the humans. Maybe instead of just "surviving" they start to March forward and are determined to live, a result of that could be new technologies with the determination to use it. Or it could be something simple as winning a consequential battle with an Aeldari character not getting the snot beaten out of them. Maybe a Fareer actually shows why the Aeldari are the most psychic race in the galaxy and wins some epic duel of wizards. Or an Autarch or someone winning in one of those epic fights that we still talk about. Like when a Chapter Master or a Chief Librarian throws down with a powerful enemy and comes out on top. My dormerism aside I'm looking forward to the new models and I hope that will create a will in GW to make more stories for the Aeldari.

I've always imagined that the "Tree of Life" that Russ has been searching for is actually Isha, and that if he managed to rescue her it would come with a great boon to both humans and Eldar.
As for the laughing god, I could imagine Cegorach's "final jest" being to sacrifice himself to give all of his power to Ynead. Perhaps not much in the grand scale of things, but enough to tip the balance. Put Isha into that equation somewhere as well, and Slaanesh might really have something to worry about.

I think a series of temporary alliances with the imperium are likely. I would expect those alliances to lead the Eldar to awakening those avatars, at which point Guilliman will think himself betrayed, sparking either a renewed conflict, or a cold understanding that each race (the Eldar and Imperium) must do battle with Chaos/Orks/Tyranids/Necrons etc on their own terms for now, whilst quietly building up their forces for an inevitable battle with each other. I think the 2 gods getting avatars and corresponding models is a GREAT Idea, and Ynnead (however you spell that) finding a way to "save" the Eldar is some way could help grease the wheel for said inevitable conflict.
I dunno. I just wanna hear more about Decimus and the Night Lords fighting Ulthwe during the battle of Cadia.

Khaine is a martial god, and he would be willing to fight Slaanesh if he were powerful enough. Khorne, the chaos mirror of Khaine hates Slaanesh. 9:39 Ultramarines would listen to orders if Guilliman commanded it for sure but only the White Scars are 'free' enough thinkers to truly work with the Aeldari as 'equals'. The White Scars story in "Overfiend" by David Annandale shows that very well.
Its the great thing about Stormseers, unlike any of the other (loyalist) Space Marine chapters (even Blood Angels in spite of Sanguinius' gift), Jaghatai completely ignored the Nikaea verdict. This has had its effect on the White Scars chapter as a whole resulting in definitely the most open minded (even philosophical) among the 41k Space Marine chapters.
Savage Scars by Andy Hoare also shows this again through how a 'regular' White Scars Sergeant is close friends with a Navigator and what he thinks of the Tau (which would border on heresy for most modern Astartes chapters).

For example, what if Ulthwe suddenly found itself horribly exposed to a Tyranid fleet that has been displaced by warp activity deep into Imperial territory and threatens both the destruction of Ulthwe and several systems critical to the functioning of the Imperium. That would up the stakes enough for both factions to cooperate, but provide an obvious "out" for GW to take later and avoid veering into "end times" territory

I dont think any of that will happen. I think GW kind of forgot about that Eldar plotline they had going.
Perhaps sales where insufficient to warrant further development of the Lore, who knows.
I expect the eldar to fade into the Background more.
Which is realistically speaking, is what would happen do a dying species in that situation..
    its just not interesting.
That we just got new Eldar models means very little, in my mind. After all remember when we got Plastic Banshees, and everyone believed that meant a refresh for the entire Aspect Warrior Range, and... well... perhaps we get another few Models, if we are good Autarchs and Farseers, we get a few more models Next Year.

The Eldar need a win. I like the Imperium as much as the average Warhammer fan but the Eldar have basically been repeatedly bashed over and over by GW for YEARS. It's as if they are too afraid to give any real attention to anyone who isn't wearing power armour in case they lose 0.00000001% of their sales money.
    .
They don't seem to realise that allowing the Eldar to have interesting characters, good models, their own stories where they get to shine and have a real, solid impact on the setting that allows them to progress with everyone else is more likely to draw in new players/consumers and reinvigorate older ones far more than the constant Imperium and Chaos wankfest that GW has been stuck in for years. Hell, most of the true Eldar fans I personally know would spend 3 times the average price of a Black Library novel about Space Marines, just to get a single running series about the Eldar that allows them to live up to the reputation they SHOULD have in the lore. And those same customers would buy every single book in that series (probably via pre-order) and then go out and buy the newest box set of Eldar minis just for the joy of having and painting them.
    .
Just stop using the Eldar as support for other characters and factions to either beat up on, outperform or use as a means to further the plot. Basically give the Eldar the attention they deserve, throw Eldari fans a bone and watch the money roll in.
    .
The Ynnari are a perfect example of this being done poorly. They exploded into the scene with new lore and new models to boot, only to be used as glorified supporting characters in their own story - realistically only existing to wake up Guilliman and start the makings of the own story ala the Crone Swords then have their entire faction be completely destroyed by the SHARD of a single Greater Daemon (again, in their own story) and the entire quest basically come to a grinding halt when they realise the final Crone Sword is in Slaanesh's palace. They've basically done nothing since because GW was all like:
"SEE, ELDAR STUFF DOESN'T SELL LIKE SPACE MARINES!!"
Of course it didn't sell well when all the hype leading up to the story was utterly demolished by whatever author was responsible taking a massive steaming dump on the entire faction in their own story and making the lot of them seem weak, useless and incapable of achievinf anythinf on their own and easily swatted aside by their enemies. FFS GW 🤦‍♂️
    .
With all of that said, kicking the Eldar even further is the LAST thing that should be happening. Ceograch I think, does need to get more involved in the galactic events over all however, it needs to be in the way of doing something for the Eldar themselves, not just some supporting action for another faction *COUGH* *IMPERIUM* *COUGH*. I think that rebuilding and reinforcing the damaged Craftworlds like Biel Tan and Ilyanden by having other Craft Worlds actually pitching in to help would go a long way as well. I think the Ynnari should continue with the Crone Swords Quest, adding more followers to their cause as they go to slowly strengthen Ynnead and then eventually, when they have all but the last Crone Sword, gather an appropriate team to go and heist the final Sword from Slaanesh's Palace (likely with some help from the Laughing God as such a thing would make an Epic Prank - particularly against Slaanesh). I think the shards of Khaine need to be brought together as the Craftworlds slowly start coming together again so Khaine can eventually be reformed. I think Isha needs to be rescued however, I could see a link with Russ, his search for the Tree of Life the burning of Nurgle's Garden being a thing and I'd actually be ok with her getting out in some way connected to this. These are all near to end-game goal and how these things come about is somethinf id be open to hear ideas for but these are all things that I think really do NEED to happen at some point. The Eldar have spent far too long in the shadow of everyone else in the galaxy and whole they might never again reach the lofty heights of their past, they certainly don't deserve all the crap they have been getting for so long and are continuing to get even now.
