      Music is Win I use an old Dunlop I tweaked. It is the last pedal in the chain, before the amp input. Any delay I use, is in the loop.
      Until recently, the only pedal in front of that was a modded Dod overdrive I now have a second cleaner Timmy clone overdrive, and a phaser which I use for one song in one band.
      That said, the amp gives me almost all my distortion and crunch.
      I am super stoked with the sound I get, and I often get comments on my tone.
      I find a little bit of grit into the pedal makes it come alive
      All my pedals are old school through hole analog and running off 12V. I made a custom loom to take a router power supply as there are always plenty floating around the office and home.

    I actually liked the third one (delay/wah/distortion), but I like playing with "noise" as an effect, especially once you learn to control it and manipulate it. I've spent many fun hours playing with sounds like that.

  • @lbleekemolen
    @lbleekemolen 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Normally, I use it before distortion, since taking the high frequencies out of the distortion pretty much ruins what the distortion does. However, I have a Fender Blender fuzz which I like to put before the wah (with another distortion after). This way, I can control how crazy the fuzz goes and lighten the upper octave it tends to add. It sounds to me like that results in a similar sound as Eddie Hazel has on Maggot Brain, more expression possibilities.

  • @YellowBrickFloyd

    I often run ... Octavia type fuzz > ( silicon) FUZZ > overdrive/booster > Wah > Overdrive/Distortion stack > all the rest. (If Germanium fuzz, then it's first. )
    If using a univibe like Trower, then a little more traditional...Univibe > WAH > > comp >
    Overdrive stack > EQ > Noise Gate > Delay.
    The wah does not have to go 1st. I once had a combination mini volume/ wah near the end of one pedalboard prior to delay that I inteded to use as just volume swells, traiks. But I accidentally activated the wah side and...it actually sounded cool there.

    I have a Keeley D&M drive before my dunlop mini bass wah and a tumnus after. For one sone with the band I play I use both sides of the D&M drive into the wah with the tumnus on after and I get a crazy "synth-y" sound that that sounds awesome.

    From what I understand, the Morley pedals have buffered outputs. I have used one myself and I loved it. But unfortunately for me, the buffered output messed with my Fuzzface. So I bought a modded Vox/cry baby wah. It's both pedals fused into one and all buffered outputs were removed for the cleanest sound. It allows you to roll the volume off on the guitar knob to get those really nice cleans without the buffered outputs distorting it. A guy makes them by hand and I bought it of Reverb.com.

    I found that guitar > noise gate > wah > dist had a more subtle yet quackier wah sound. Then i switched it to guitar > noise gate > dist > wah, and i noticed that the heel up position like...scooped like the volume or tone or something, just like in this video, then opened up in the toe position. In your video the notes like disappeared when you did heel up (wah > dist) but then came out toe down. I too will be placing my wah first, however the other way is a whole nother usable sound too!

  • @saucegodd5714
    @saucegodd5714 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I've found that I like to keep my wah between my delay (which goes straight to the tuner) and my distortion just because whenever I put my wah in front it does the same effect to my delays rather than my delays repeating my wah

    But, what if you wanted all three options at your toe tips? Would you really need 3 wah pedals, or could a pedal order switcher switchboard pedal board be made for cheaper than the cost of 3 bad horsies?

    I play a JVM. The wah comes through WAY better with a TS808 in front of it.

    I tried my wah (crybaby from hell) in my effects loop a few days ago...impacted volume too much.

    I like Dunlop original crybaby, very easy to mod and cheap enough for me not to worry about screwing up

    Hmmm... I don't think I would ever put the Wah _before_ any distortion. Overdrive destroys most of the signal's high frequencies while adding its own overtone spectrum. You only get to hear any of that if you put the Wah _after_ it - like in your 2nd example. And reverb and delay, of course, don't make sense at the beginning of the chain. QED, your 3rd example.
