When I saw the gingham dress I thought it was kind of awful, but you put it on and changed my mind. It’s so pretty on your skin tone with your hair color. Love this type of video ♥️
I used to work in a jewelry store. Some of the earrings were hideous, especially the clip ons, but they'd look great on the right person. I think most clothes and accessories look good on the right person, even if on the majority of people particular items would be awful.
Rachel Maksy did an aesthetic video with people's sent in -core styles. She did Shrekcore I think, as well as a bunch of others, it was so funny! She's a vintage youtuber and has a video that says Aesthetic not Values.

I completely agree Carrie! Sometimes I find myself becoming self conscious when I see a cute look with chunky/loose fitting clothes because I feel like they look so cute on smaller bodies but don't have the same affect on mine.

So glad someone else pointed this out! I think "Cottagecore" DEFINITELY came from Mori Kei. I know a lot of people view Cottagecore as an aesthetic and MK as strictly fashion, but there's no denying the CC's origins, in my opinion.
Not surprising as they're both interpretations of pioneer fashion which has come in and out of style and been reinvented since the mid-1800s. Today's take on it is very similar to the 70s fashion in Western culture which also saw a resurgence in the 90s as well. Its really fun how fashion history repeats itself among different cultures changing a little bit each time :)
I appreciate you acknowledging some of the criticisms of cottagecore. We can enjoy the fantasy while simultaneously being aware of its history (the good and bad). It's better than being dismissive or willfully ignorant.
Carrie, Carrie, Carrie ! I went to Walmart today and there is SO much cottagecore. Some on clearance, some new. BUT the important news is overalls, especially the knit, super soft short overalls. They feel silky to the touch and might be what babies experience in their onesies.

I think it would be really cool if you transformed the Shien clothes you purchased into new items. Idk if you know how to sew/ tailor, but you could always pay someone to use the items/fabric to diy them into something new. That way when you wear the item you aren’t really promoting the brand, you can say it’s one of a kind/ highlight your sewing skills or the work of the seamstress. Could be a fun video:)

So funny you just put this out. The young dude working at Nordstrom told me I had a cottage core style. I didn't know what that meant, but I later looked it up and it's definitely fitting! I think you did well in showing wearable version of this style while also shopping your own closet. Anything that's a cross between vintage/picnic/folk like is a good start. I think madewell actually has a lot of clothing that could be styled as cottage core. So cute!

you shoulda done a french tuck with the yellow jumper and pink skirt, coulda added a brown belt at the top of the skirt so it peaked out when you tucked the front of the jumper, think that woulda helped aesthetically!
