Those burgers were huge!! And so were the mussels! You got me salivating on this one, guys. It's so lovely to see the green landscapes you get to drive through, and the clear, crisp air blowing around you. The pub grub sure wasn't a bargain, though!

Loving New Zealand guys! It's a country that is inaccessible for most being so far away and expensive to travel to, so it''s a real treat to see your videos. I wish the UK would adopt more sustainable means to farm our food. xx

Hi Selina! Yes, we are quite isolated down here 😆 We’re so happy this series allows you to travel and eat with us and that it makes NZ more accessible to you all! We have loved connecting with sustainable food businesses here- it’s exciting hearing what people are doing on that front. I think food systems all around the world need to have sustainability at the forefront- Mother Earth depends on it 💕 Thanks for watching this one and we’re so happy you enjoyed it! Cheers, Sheena

And since you enjoy chips, delicious frites are served with many of the classic national dishes - moules-frites, steak frites, white asparagus (super popular in season) and frites, carbonade (braised beef) and frites...I think my tartare and toast also came with a side of fries. 🤔😂

the green lipped mussels from NZ are a lot bigger (generally), a better texture or mouthfeel, and are satisfying to eat. The flavour is good and clean too. We also have the usual black and blue mussels in NZ.... which are good. It's just that the green mussels beat them in every way.

Originally the North and the South islands had different names. The early settlers came along and the separate Islands were then proclaimed to be parts of the same country, New Zealand. About 1856, the first recorded use of the word "Aotearoa' appeared in newspapers. It was a previously unused word/phrase, meaning "land of the long white cloud". So it's not a traditional word back to pre-european days, it is a modern word/phrase. Today some people use it in place or alongside of New Zealand.

Amazing!! My state (Santa Catarina) grows more than 95% of oysters and mussels in Brasil and I’ve never had raw mussels!! I’d love to have a big beluga to call home for a few weeks in NZ!!

Campervan life was so fun Tess! Bet you’d love it too. What’s the most common way of eating the mussels and oysters in Santa Catarina? Is there a traditional way they’re served? Thanks for watching and commenting on this one mate. Hope you enjoyed it! Cheers, Sheena

@@ChasingaPlate thank you for answering, as always!! Mussels are usually steamed and served with lime or vinagret (diced onions, bell peppers, vinager and olive oil) or like “mulle et frites”, and oysters... they go out of town 😂 from raw or stemed to diferent kinds of toppings like ginger, honey and cognac, fried in oil and garlic, different cheese sauces and many many more... 😊
