I knew it as soon as the record started. When the strings kicked in the hair stood up on the back of the neck and when the band came back in I knew the album was going to be a masterpiece

Thanks man! This is such a great opening track. It annoys me to see people describe it as disjointed or thrown together because the underlying song is so well put together and builds/morphs in such a cool way.
😅😅 I usually make a point of waiting a few days after I record a cover to do my mixdown on it because all I hear are my mistakes in the take I use, but I was very pleased with how this one turned out once I got over myself 🤣
Oh, yeah. I've heard and read lots of bad takes on great QOTSA song all over the way in my lifetime lmao. At this point, people should know (especially fans) that are lots of albums that grows on you when you let them sit down a bit. And then opinions change, but usually they don't change what's recorded on some way (videos, audios, posts, etc.) and hot takes outruns us.
It is what it is, for now.
This may fall as naive from me, but I expect most musicians to appreciate great jobs like Josh and Co. does. They should instantly know how hard it's to do a song like this, and even if they don't like the genre, probably respect it for the work itself. Maybe most already do think like that, but in times like this I don't really know...
I can imagine, you've put a lot of work on this. I'm no musician but I know very well the fight one has with perfectionism lol. And it's much worse if it's others work, and you really love it!
But believe me, love it's on display here. A hard song to do as one man, and very cleverly executed.

I think I started prepping Tangled up in Plaid at some point and got distracted by other queens songs 😅 I'll have to revisit that at some point! Lullabies is always the album that I kinda sleep on because I just want to listen to Era again 😂

Thanks! Was a little nervous about this one as I wasn't feeling confident with the falsetto stuff... Josh has a lower register than me so the flip point feels awkward. There's a lot of jumping around in the vocal melody!

Thanks! I was definitely on the fence about changing it from the original, but Josh just flips a few notes before me and there's always a weird range where it just feels like more work to do falsetto instead of mixing up. Glad you enjoyed the change!

Appreciate the desire to learn my version 😅 but I've mostly stopped doing tabs for these covers... I feel like it's a little disingenuous to label them as a tab for a band when I'm changing a bunch of stuff, and I kinda hate UG at this point with all the paywalls for user generated content...

@@MrOlisimon Hey now! Don't sell yourself short... If I can figure it out by ear, so can you! I may have more experience transcribing things by ear, but it's totally doable and it just takes some trial and error. You only get better by trying.
Also... I've made some pretty bad tabs in my time and I'm pretty sure if I tried to tab this out it would be more confusing than anything 🤣

Hey, glad you enjoyed the cover! I generally have stopped doing tabs as these are my own personal interpretations... And frankly I think this would be hella confusing to tab out as every section is different.
Unfortunately I don't have much desire to do tutorial videos either... Despite it being a pretty popular format lol. My life has been pretty crazy and I barely have time to learn new songs, let alone teach my weird versions.
I generally encourage people to try learning by ear on their own and finding what works. There's no real right or wrong answers with this stuff.
