I live in Quebec. I am on the road about two hours every day. During each trip I see at least five dangerous violations. Most are running lights, or cutting me off by quickly changing lanes. In Montreal it is illegal to make a right turn at a red light as like in some other cities. There are many drivers making the right turn even though it is illegal to do so.
I’ve been hit three times in the rear of my truck when simply waiting at a red light. I was not even moving. One time at a red light I was slammed in the front right side by a car driver wanting to cut in front of me. I was not even moving at the time of impact!
In Quebec buses have absolute right of way. If the bus pulls out from the stop it is important you make sure you are out of the way. This happened to me where a buss pulled in to the right side of my truck. I had to have the two to right side doors replaced. The estimator at the insurance company told me I am legally at fault because buses in Quebec have absolute right of way. This is also in the Quebec traffic code. Some other provinces in Canada have the same law for their buses.
I have video cameras in the front and rear of my truck. When I have an accident I send in the videos to the insurance company. This saved me from being accused of causing the accident. I had some occasions where the offending driver tried to tell their insurance company I hit their vehicle. When I exchanged the info with the driver who hit my truck, I never told them I have cameras.
In Montreal many of the streets have bicycle paths. The bike riders do not take any care for driving rules. They run the lights and stop signs, and very often cut across in front of traffic. Three times when I was walking on the sidewalk, I was hit by a bicycle rider who was riding his bike on the sidewalk. I had some bruises. Each time I was hit the guy took off without even asking me if I was okay!

Cyclists don't use bells or horns to warn pedestrians here in Montreal, it's a small gesture that can prevent accidents.

bus has right of way when leaving a bus stop... NOT while on the road and changing lanes has we can see in this video! this is terrible! look at him.. impatient, cut in front of the car instead of just waiting for the traffic to move! He than proceed to cut through a solid lane! SO MANY WRONG THINGS HERE! They are no better! they also are part of this chaos.. He should be fired!

Montreal has a serious problem with the local highway where you enter the road on the right side, and within less than 1000 ft, you have to cross 2 or 3 lanes and exit on the left side to get to your destination. And this type of situation is fairly regular navigating the city. This is an absolute nightmare in traffic or if travelling through the city and not knowing the layout.

I went to Montreal for 4 days over a long weekend and I lost count of the number of wild things I've seen on the road.
A van towing a car but it wasn't hooked up properly so the empty car kept repeatedly rear ending the van.
People changing lanes into eachother within inches and people screaming and gesturing at eachother.
Drivers backing into eachother in parking lots without a 2nd thought (sometimes more than just a bumper tap).
Things I'd consider a fender bender but enough to exchange insurance details but people basically doing hit and runs.

It made me laugh - I live in Montreal and I see these infractions all the times :). By the way, one thing that causes drivers to change lanes on double-lanes is that dotted lines (changing lane allowed) can come at a time where there are so many cars coming-in during traffic hour that you never get the chance to actually change lanes where it is time to do so, and coupled with the fact that there is almost no civility among drivers to let you change lane and that road signs are unclear and can show-up in your field of view when there is no longer any time left to change lane, which causes people to cut at the last minute. For an 18-wheeler, that is not a problem: because of their size, they always get their way. I am not trying to excuse the illegal behavior, but rather trying to explain it. As for red lights, right turn are allowed outside the city of Montreal, but driving straight through a red light is absolutely forbidden (I guess some drivers are impatient).

Ok first of all I live on the south shore of Mtl... I write in English so everyone understand including the one who posted this video! Especially. Je peux aussi vous l'écrire en francais si désiré!
I have to admit.. I am ashamed of being Quebecois.. Drivers in the province, not only Mtl, are terribly wrong, bad, uneducated, no curtesy at all. But having been in the Toronto region I can say its no better! Just went there recently for a BJ game and niagara falls.. ouf! what a nightmare... Not saying this to excuse Mtl... ALL major cities in North america has this issue... That being said I watch the entire video and here what I found. THE DRIVER EXPOSING THIS.. MR 86 STTLS... AINT NO BETTER AND IS PART OF THIS CHAOS! Here is why
On the start of the video... at 00:20 (QC Highway 40 eastbound by decarie highway entrance) You can see that the lanes are merging, you are far out to see the situation developing... But you do not even slow down a bit... You see that the situation is getting bad... car in a truck's blind spot, other stupid driver not giving a chance.. I see that the black CRV is a crappy driver.. This is on highway 40 eastbound by decarie.. its a stupid configuration But YOU RUSH in having in mid.. its my right of way... you further complicate a situation that should not has arised! Just getting your foot off the gas would have help but no! You waited last minute to brake and further use your horn as, not in an emergency but in a lack of curtesy!
4:36 (Highway 15 southbound) Here you are in a busy sector. Its a know fact and its always like that. In this situation care must be taken and you have to be ready to take evasive actions. There is that dodge caravan coming across the lanes without any registration.. I guess its in the window (stupid gov that can't even provide plates in time!!!). You see that car to start to cross, have started yet expecting his move? have you anticipated is move? I doubt! When that dude pulls in your lane, he is about 5 cars length from you. You can clearly see it! DO YOU SLOW DOWN? DO YOU EVEN LIFT THE FOOT OFF THE GAS? NO! Like any other Québecois you keep going at the same rate of speed saying its my right of way! You approach him close enough that you do not have any other thing to do than push the brake in.. YOU DRIVE A SEMI... WHAT IS THE WEIGHT? WHAT DISTANCE YOU NEED TO COMPLETELY STOP? Then you use your horn in a frustrated manner! Just like all those stupid drivers! You take NO evasive action from the start but you end up saying your disaproval with that stupid horn.. If you wanted to use it, and you should have.. it was before when he tries to go in your lane... to let him know of your presence and the upcoming danger! but you let him do his sh*t so YOU can show him your frustration by using this horn.. AGAIN, lack of curtesy!
5:20 (south shore Longueuil, Bld Jean Paul Vincent) I know the cyclist is wrong from the start! So many people killed in mtl on the road and cyclist and pedestrian receives nothing... BUT looking at your actions.. you are no better... first even thought the cyclist is wrong, when a motor vehicule sees a pedestrian or cyclist on the road, the later has priority no matter what! YOU SEING HIM LOOONNNNG TIME BEFORE ARRIVING TO THE LIGHT. NEVER EVEN LIFT THE FOOT OF THE GAZ... NEVER! You kept going has is no matter what could have happen.. notting safe for a truck driver which I call a professional of the road. You did not warn him either of that fact.... This is the time you could have advised him with an emergency signal with your horn! did you? What if he would have fallen? What if another stupid driver would have hit him? Where you prepared to take evasive actions? NO you did not even bother! Typical of Québec drivers.. which seems you are part of! You see we all get into that state of mind being immerge in it!
5:55 I cannot say where it is exactly but you can clearly see that is merging spot. I know its hard for a truck driver to merge in dense traffic has everybody on the road is stupid! BUT you have a fellow professional driver driving a truck trying to merge... do you show curtesy and let him merge? Well you keep proceeding and make it hard! I don't know what's going on behind you, I would have like to know! You are in your right of way I admit but there is a lack of curtesy as expected from Quebec drivers! You see you are part of this Chaos!
7:19 This part is actually really funny! You are in your right and I love that you put that part. It is a violation of the traffic code to obstruct an intersection. You can't engage into an intersection of not able to clear it! That being said.. you can see a police car going by and doing f*** all! This part of the problem! Police concentrate there effort into speeding and let go all other infractions! this is not providing as much money as speeding I would say!
PEOPLE IN QUÉBEC SUCKS! I know, I am one of them and I am ashamed of it! Ontario ain't no better! But I do tip my hat to all drivers in the maritimes and west of Ontario (prairies and BC) where I find them far better!
before showing others bad behaviours. I would suggest everyone to look at themself! We are all part of this non-sence! ME INCLUDED!
In navigation we have rules of the road, the traffic regulation derives from it. Here's some info that could save you from accidents.
    most important rule of all:
-LOOK OUT! Always pay attention to the road in front of you and be aware of all your surroundings. Be vigilant and always expect the worst from other drivers! I do not thrust nobody on the road! NOBODY.
-people on your right has the right of way! Nobody understand this part and knows how and where to apply it!
-when overtaking somebody, YOU are responsible! do it quick, effectively when the situation allow you to! DO NOT strectch the time necessary to overtake by going the same speed as the vehicule being overtaken.
-This is hard for people to comprehend but here is an important rule.. EVENTHOUGHT YOU ARE IN YOUR RIGHT, IF YOU SEE A SITUATION GETTING BAD. IF YOU SEE THAT THE OTHER DRIVER IS NOT COMPLYING TO THE RULES, YOU SEE THERE IS A RISK OF COLLISION, YOU SHALL TAKE ACTIONS IN ORDER TO AVOID THE ACCIDENT. IF NO ACTIONS WHERE TAKEN FORM YOU, THAN YOU ARE ALSO RESPONSIBLE!
-Every action taken by a driver to avoid accident shall be taken EARLY and in a way that it is EASILY PERCEPTIBLE by the other driver. That is to avoid confusion and to not let confusion set in and having to take actions in an emergency state!

At 4:40 how stupid is that white van driver. U change lanes - sure no worries go for it. Why break when nobody is in front? Holy crap 80% of montrealers need their license revoked. I live on the south shore, everytime I cross the bridge to Montreal, idiocracy sets in.

Yep the traffic in Montreal is very compact and it impossible to not tailgate people because has soon you leave the tiny bit of space in front of you someone is going to merge in front of your even if ther is only 2 inch of loose for the car to fit but this is only in Montreal once you leave Montreal you can start to keep your distance has normal

@@Malie_stata1980 Ah oui?
