    When I was in my early 20s I had a friend who had an exceptionally ditzy younger sister. She was applying for colleges and I sarcastically told her to put on her college applications that for community service she read to the deaf and did magic tricks for the blind. She didn't get it was a joke and actually submitted it. My friends parents were pissed off at me for a good year 😂

    Hey Tommy! I met you briefly at Vidcon and you asked me if I had questions. Of course, at the time, I couldn't think of anything, but I have a question that has bothered me ever since. As someone who is a big museum nerd, I was wondering what museums are like for the visually impaired. You can't really touch things like a T-Rex skeleton, but are there any exhibits that are friendly to the blind??

    • @SoleaGalilei
      @SoleaGalilei 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have seen a few museums that did have exhibits for the blind, like fossils that can be touched and so on. At the Met in NYC they had an ancient Egyptian statue that blind people had permission to touch. As a sighted person I was a little jealous that they got to do that! I've also been to an aquarium that had bronze 3d models of all the fish and animals next to each tank so you could feel the shape of what was in there even if you couldn't see it.

    Magic is about cheating your sensations. Think chemistry: try cornstarch with water and punch and smack it. Then gentle submerge your hand in the mix. Some one add a back up story or narration through the feelings such as "this mix can perceive your hate when you punch it but when you think positive and kind things it allows you to submerge your hand" something on those lines to cheat with his imagination too. That's what magic is about. There are so many tricks that can be done with basic chemistry. Have fun Tommy!

    I am reading a book about the neuroscience of magic and illusions. While reading the book, the author states in the introduction that the book will mainly study the visual pathway and how the brain processes the visual stimuli as the majority of magic tricks are visual. So, I got interested in knowing whether blind people can enjoy being fooled by magic or not? And I am so happy to watch this video.

    Do not remember where i heard it but I have heard about a magician that was sad when he saw one in the audience that was blind, that this man could not experience the magic he usually did. He thought for a while then, as I remember next time the magician went up to the blind man and asked to do a trick with him. In front of the wife. The trick was to sort out the red from the black cards. The blind man succeeded. The wife was in tears. The story ended with giving away how it was done. The magician pressed down on the blind mans foot under the table on all the red cards.

      That's actually *very* cool. That's an effect which is usually done *without* the "assistant's" knowledge but that dude went and made the blind guy an *active* participant in the trick. So he got to experience the whole thing in the most interactive way ever, being part of the routine and its miracle.

    Tommy did you know that there I'd a new type of surgery and it uses stem cells and it can totally cure blindness. If you ever decide to go have surgery like that would you be scared about what it would b4 like to see? Also would you make a video if you seeing for the first time if you would? I've seen every single video of yours, and you are my hero. I'm just 12 but all i know is that you are awesome.
