It's time to watch another WCW Superstar Series video and this time it's the Macho Man Randy Savage. Randy talks about why he left Vince McMahon and the WWF to join WCW, he talks about his feuds with Hollywood Hulk Hogan, why he joined the nWo, why he helped create the nWo Wolfpac, and his numerous title wins in World Championship Wrestling. Macho also explains what "Macho Madness" means and why he says "Oh Yeah" all the time. - กีฬา
Regarding the Macho/Elizabeth divorce - there was a 1-page "letter" from Savage published in WWF magazine explaining that he and Liz were no longer together because "some things just don't work out" or something along those lines. I don't remember the divorce being talked about on TV though.
Yep. It was also mentioned on Nitro, when Liz sent in the tape when being held hostage by the nWo. Completely forgot about that!
Watch the OSW Review Lex Express story arc, the Raw, before Wrestlemania. He did a sit-down interview with Vince, and he brought it up. Used it as motivation in his feud with Crush. Shame they never took advantage of it afterwards.
@@mikem10481that's what popped into my head too. One of his best interviews/promos
I seem to remember on the OSW Superbrawl review Hogan said about it on Nitro.
Wow good find
I met Macho Man in ‘94 in Treasure Island, FL. I was 6. My grandparents owned a condo off the beach, and wouldn’t ya know it, he owned the condo one floor above my grandparents’ condo. We were in visiting, and one day at their condo’s swimming pool, my grandpa and dad walked up to me and said, “we’ve got someone very special for you to meet.” Sure enough, the Madness himself walked up and introduced himself to me, and asked me if I was a fan. I of course was and told him how I thought he was “super cool.” He then asked if i’d ever seen him do the elbow drop. I said yes, to which he replied, “you wanna learn how to do the elbow drop, little man?”
Before I could answer, he picked me up, told me to stick out my elbow, and he tossed me straight up in the air and into the pool (by request of my dad, as he tells the story). I remember it vividly, and will never forget that moment. He was an icon.
Awesome Story😎😎😎😎💎💎💎💎👑👑👑👑
That's awesome
Oh yeahhhhhhhh
That's amazing!!!
That’s the stuff of legends, thank you for sharing this story! I wish I could have met him and quite a few legends from back in the day. Hogan is on my list still!
“I’ve forgotten what the question was now” - Exactly. That’s the madness taking over. He let you know what it was by making you experience it.
The Madness is a shoot, always was
@brianstiles1701 that's what made these guys superstars. They played characters that were identical to their own personalities. Now they just try to force a character on to wrestlers
What is this madness?!?
.. exactly.
@@MrJermeypcocaine
I miss the Macho Madness
We all do brother!
Same here. It was a sad day and week when you heard of his passing.
Oohh yeAh!
The madness will never die
Same
I love that this was conducted in character and at the same time you’re not sure 😂
That's Macho Madness!
That really was Randy Poffo though, to a T.
No. I think that was Randy!
Hulkamania was a grain of sand but Macho Madness was the whole desert ooh yeah
I don't know but a calm savage is more frightening than a off the wall savage
Has that Jake Roberts vibe....
@@beesly01 man I didn't realize it but yeah it's very Jake Roberts 🤘
@@beesly01Damn didn’t even think about that..
True. Its like the calm before the storm.
Nah
Man from an era of keeping kayfabe no matter what. No twitter, no playing video games on effing twitch...a REAL pro wrestler. RIP always to a legend.
And most of the roster were man enough to shave on a regular basis. I swear for over a decade much of the modern roster are too lazy to bother.
BETTER than the BEST
The flying elbow is the best elbow ever I remember back in the 80s when Randy came off the top the picture cameras would all flash at the same time I thought that was so beautiful
Hulk always tried to bury Randy and steal his thunder. EVERYTIME Randy won a world title Hogan was there to try and steal the spotlight. Randy usually had to drop titles to Hogan too.
it got really old
Savage lost all his WCW Titles to either Flair or Hogan
hot dogging n grand standing
But guess who shows up for no reason at all!
To get his grand standing and hot dogging in!
You man, you Hulk Hogan, yeah!
You just couldn't stand to sit back with your feet up and watch the champion in action!
and twice it was THE NEXT NIGHT...
From what I gathered, Macho Madness is (in so many words) basically just Macho's mindset towards his career.
"Plan their work and Work their plan".... that would look great on a shirt.
You're right on the money with that bedtime comment. Savage had such a presence and distinct way of talking that even when said talking was nonsense, you hung on every word. The man could have published audiobooks of himself reading the back of cereal boxes, and I would have bought the entire collection. Twice.
Macho Man is my favorite motivational speaker of all time. He was also a wrestler.
Who do you think sounds crazier: The Macho Man describing Macho Madness, or The Ultimate Warrior describing Destrucity?
It worked for Randy to sound crazy because he is a mad man. You know he's supposed to be a bit of a psycho a loose cannon...loose screws, one sandwich shy. Ultimate warrior just didn't make any goddamn sense. It was like the what the f*** now somebody get this man off my screen lol. Why is here in WCW who paid him to be here? Lol I was salty about that when it happened. I didn't like Hogan showing up either. Yellow f**** ass lol
Warrior. i think...
@@SuperCrazyPsycho731 The worst part about Warrior’s rambling is that I can ALMOST see them making sense.
Like, he wants to create this bizarre Conan-meets-Buddha mythology around his character. One where through rigorous self-improvement and the thrill of combat can one overcome pain and loss. And that would be interesting if Jim Hellwig could form a coherent goddamn sentence.
@@theoneandonlymichaelmccormick I like them with Randy in the ultimate maniacs. It's crazy promos work there. I wanted to like warrior. I even tried. Ultimate Maniacs and The matches with Randy and rude are as far as I can go. Lol
Warrior!
That elbow drop on The Giant was picture perfect Randy Savage. 3:57
Picture perfect!! Best elbow ever
I use Macho Madness every day at work.
It should be a requirement!!
OHHHHH YEAHHHHH
Macho seemed like he cared about wrestling alot. No wonder he hated hulk because hulk just was in it for fortune and fame
It was nice to see WrestleQuest use Macho Man as the god of wrestling, because that guy deserved it. He has his own WCW home video and he puts over DDP on it. When they talk about legends, this is what they mean.
I like how Macho is talking like everything wasn't a work
But still says it all in a very chill tone compared to how he is on-screen. Really blends the kayfabe into the shoot.
The true meaning behind 'Macho Madness', presented by Randy Savage.. written by Warrior.
Macho was always great at taking the character from a 10 down to a 6 when being interviewed in a non promo setting, so that everyone still got to experience the character when he was being interviewed by like Arsenio or Jay Leno.
He was beloved, but he deserved so much more (every bit of Hogan’s legacy he actually deserved)
I miss WCW.
😢
Also, I really loved his The Madness gimmick. He really did feel like the most dangerous wrestler outside the ring. And his attire/look was easily some of the best I've ever seen.
I totally digged it.
When I was a teenager in the 90ies, on Saturday I always left the pub before midnight, because WCW was on DSF (German Sport TV). WCW was just pure magic back then. I miss WCW too.
@@VarangianVigilante
Right on, bro. I shall do the Alex Wright dance in celebration.
🕺
I miss it too but watching ‘Relieving the war’ is showing us there was far too many DQ finishes with WCW. It’s frustrating the hell out of me! No storylines either.
I miss WCW.. 😢
We are in agreement that Punk does not know how to do (correctly) the elbow drop from the top rope.
I heard someone make a good summation about Punk, and specifically using the elbow drop as an example: Punk is a great pro wrestler, but not a great athlete.
The line between "worked my plan and I planned my work" and "hit or be hittin', kick or be kickin'" is razor thing, and requires a degree in Steiner Math to full understand
One degree of separation from "if you fail to plan, you plan to fail." They were the philosophers of our time.
Gotta love a guy like Macho. Just so unique in everything he did but for all his "unhinged Madness", all of his matches were numbered and planned to precision.
One of the best! Got the Madness in the eyes uh-huh!
When I got older, I began to think this was the wheels turning for that Be a Man album he did.
This is becoming my favourite series from wrestling bios
Savage was right about the Wolfpac. I always felt the Wolfpac weren't pro-WCW, they were anti-Hogan. That was the one thing they had in common: they all hated Hogan.
And that's why we loved them.
@@eastsidereviews727 Yeah before he got his ass exposed. Speak for yourself
When I was younger, I wondered why an American wrestler would use "Land of Hope and Glory" as a theme. It wasn't until later I found out it was a part of "Pomp and Circumstance" and a popular graduation theme on the US.
LMAO you can tell Randy had never really thought about what does Macho Madness mean until asked that question and he basically just figures it out has he's speaking. Legend among legends!
Hogan is the case example of how sometimes coworkers are much, MUCH worse than your boss. I'd much rather deal with Vince's eccentricities than Hogan's BS.
That would have meant to stay retired and a commentator in Randy's case.
Obviously, following and dealing with Hogan was a better alternative.
Oh and btw, titles aren't real. It's all a work, mark.
Best timing of any wrestling bios ever. Thanks for everything. Ohhhhhg yeah.
The fact that you were able to work in that bit from Eddie Murphy Raw made my week 😂😂😂
I'm watching Savage in this format and I'm scratching my head thinking he reminds me of someone else. It's dawned on me. Watching his mannerisms, his breathing, his punctuation of his live sentences etc. Stone cold must have really studied Savage, we his interviews in a similar format back in the early 2000s is almost identical. Never would have put those two together but it's as clear as day once you see it.
Stone Cold probably got DTA, or don't trust anybody, from a Savage promo. When Savage came to WCW, he used a lot of acronyms like DTA and OCD (one cool dude). Stone Cold was either still there at that time or just left for WWE. Also, "hell yeah".
The Eddie Murphy clip had me in tears. Well done. Great video my man.
Macho Man Randy Savage is without a shadow of a doubt my favorite wrestler of all time and no matter how many wrestlers come and go for me they can’t top what the Macho Man did in his career.
I crave as much info as I can get with Macho Man having listened to the podcasts Something to Wrestle and 83 Weeks and there episodes on him although I’m still patiently waiting for 83 Weeks to finish the years of Macho Man’s career in WCW last episode was last year covering his 1996-1997 year.
Anyways it’s all hard to say why Vince didn’t see that Macho Man had more miles as a in ring competitor. You listen to Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard and he would say Randy wanted to take it more easy and not be an in ring competitor anymore. But maybe like any wrestler does he had that itch to want to do it again and maybe Vince didn’t see that anymore especially during that New Generation era. So I’m only assuming he went elsewhere to still be able to compete in the ring. I think WCW showed that Macho Madness never dies and is forever!! OH YEAH!!
Something happened with Stephanie McMahon
Vince missed a huge opportunity. Because Savage didn't mind doing jobs, he could have put over the likes of Bret AND Shawn, which probity would have made them bigger.
3:49 Oh that shade to Punk XD
PLAN + WORK = WORK + PLAN.
Print that shirt, Take my MONEY!
If memory serves, Savage took time off for an injury almost immediately after the Wolfpac's founding. He didn't show up again in any meaningful capacity until Spring Stampede '99.
Correct. He was gone for half of 98 and a quarter of 99
@@ziahamm1603 Of course, being WCW, he got paid anyway.
Which wasn't wrong for his situation. They still made money from Slim Jim well he was down.@@joshmccollen700
“Things are starting to popin, things are starting to cultivate, things are starting to grow, things are looking colorful” ohhh yeah
I just realized something... ALL. Of machoman world title reigns was ended by either ric flair or hulk Hogan... ALL. Of them... 😳😥🤔
😢😮😢
Well, if you're going to lose to someone, you can do a lot worse. Not like he was dropping belts to Van Hammer or something.
The best WCW Superstar Series Tape ! ! ! Thanks Macho Man ! ! !
It's really between Mach and Hitman as the greatest ever . Their passion and their breeding from their famous wrastler father's shines through
Flair is the GOAT
I can listen to Macho tell stories forever. Works or shoots. He was amazing
My head canon is that Macho was setting up the White Hummer angle with the talk about a hidden agenda.
Never clicked one of your uploads so quick in my life. OH YEAHHHHHH, WRESTLINGBIOS IS THE CREAMMMMMM OF THE CROP!
Savage was the GOAT. He had the looks, could cut promos, could play baby face & heel & most importantly could wrestle. The best ever to do it.
I love me an old Macho Man interview! Even this weird WCW kayfabe stuff is so entertaining. Sick video
I think I still have some of these late ‘90’s WCW Superstar Series videos in my attic. I haven’t watched them in forever.
Your reviews of this series have given me such waves of nostalgia. I had all these videos and wore them out as a kid.
I love seeing Macho doing a low key interview somewhat in character and not. Most interviews he breaks the intensity knob right off 🤣
No joke a lot of what Macho says sounds like some Daoist riddle. He lived in the moment and it was beautiful.
M - 'Membering your Training and Education
A - A Human
D - Dorpedo
N - Nothing
E - Everything
S - Surfing on Lightning
S - Showing everyone how far you have come
Wonder which WCW Tape will he cover Next?
Nash.
He should have just said "The madness?....OH YEAH!!" And left it with that!❤😂
If Macho Man had stayed with the wwf, a 1997 feud with Stone Cold Steve Austin and Macho Man would have been so awesome
They would of jobbed him out and made a mockery of him .. Vince was P.Oed when macho left and McMahon is known to hold grudges
Always and still my favorite! What a true legend!
Oh, this is my new favorite of the WCW vids by a longshot. As you say, Macho Man can just make anything sound so enthralling.
I very much enjoyed this! Thank you!!
I know I’m late to the party but you’ve been a blast to binge this summer!!
I'd love to see wwe re-release these in dvd format so we can get further in depth interviews and bonus matches
Adore this series man thank you for these!
Takes me back to a time when I just wanted to hear my favorite wrestler talk about wrestling ❤
Thanks for sharing this: Macho was one of my favorites going back to the early/mid-eighties. Loved seeing him!
Thanks for this Wrestling Bios. This is great Savage footage.. Its always Great hearing Macho..
Perry Saturn had a great elbow drop
Great video, brother. He was always one of my favorites. He was very intense and was one of the best.
I wish Randy Savage was still around so he could have a possible podcast.
@14:47 Hulk must have visited Jeff Jerrett's barber.
I used to love Nash's tape! Was so funny at times as expected.
You make these really entertaining!
I think this was the best WCW Superstars video so far. Macho man seemed to really try with his answers and explanations, plus it just felt like he gave us more with this interview.
Macho Man was crazy genius. Method to his madness. He really understood what made wrestling great. Often crazy, a little silly, definitely awesome, and always go hard or go home.
Savage is one of my all time favorites. From his in ring work to his promos. He had it all. His rivalry with DDP might be my favorite rivalry that he ever had, WCW or WWF.
I love these videos! Can’t wait to see more of these
RIP Macho
His Rap Song was also cool 😎
Hell ya, Randy was the man.
Excellent content, well done.
these are awesome, i look forward to more of these!
Like a lot of people have said. Miss the Macho Man
Awesome video! I'm really enjoying these
these videos rule!!👊
thanks for sharing!💪🏻💪🏻
Pepsi Phil's elbow drop is so wonky it endangers lives.
Big Macho fan, legend thanks for this never seen these WCW superstar series tapes from 98.
I had this one in VHS I was hoping you'd do this one.
Macho is pure entertainment.
I cracked up and really appreciate the Eddie Murphy: RAW clip! Rest in Power Macho Man and Elizabeth!
I miss macho madness dude was one of a kind and there will never be another wrestler like him
Tell Jay Lethal that 👍🏻🤣
12:13
If you mean Randy, he did reveal it outside of WWF & WCW TV on the Regis & Kathie Lee show in 92 when Randy was a guest.
Macho Man: “Macho Madness… is a vibe 😎” basically 😂
I watched this a few times as a kid and Macho Man was my favorite. Its cool to see this one covered!
This is the greatest thing I've seen all year.
I like the part where he said “ooh, yeah!”
The sppoky demon you mention was a very real and very serious lawsuit.
Gotta love the sarcasm from Wrestling Bios in all his videos . The man is genius while talking in these videos lol
thank you for this!! RIP Macho
This intro section almost killed me bro! LMFAO absolutely hilarious and awesome.
The CM Kerplunk elbow! 😂
Oh man. Who in WCW thought that that "Boing boing!" music was the proper music for wrestling videos? Haha!
I still believe Macho should’ve punch Hogan in the face after his “under the rope” stunt at World War III…give Hulk a fistful of creative control! Imagine the pop that would’ve gotten.
I bought all of these videos from Woolworths, with my wages earnt as a KP in a pub. It was a time before the internet, I actually thought this was a cool video. I think it was a 2 in 1 video, with the other half being about DDP. I remember thinking the street fight parts were cool 😕
Yo man that Eddie Murphy "Raw" reference, you are a million times the man. Damn you are legit a straight up "G".
Anybody else feel like they’ve been blowing lines for a couple of days after watching this?
