- The Pokemon Company and Gamefreak have been incredibly quiet with a new game on the horizon... It seems so out of character... but it could be what saves Legends Z-A from being a Disaster... or it could because they are suing palworld idk

personally, the empty feelings is a result of pokémon’s development having gone from being passionate about world building and game development to selling us the world they’ve built. no longer treated as fans, but as consumers.

I just started Pokemon Y again in anticipation of Z-A and I just cant help myself but just be like wow. I took it for granted back then, but there is so much side-content, mini-games, and smaller details that just arent present in the modern games anymore.
on one hand I think the storytelling, worldbuilding, character designs and music of the Pokemon series have dramatically improved in recent years but man something is making me wish we could go back to the sheer amount of content GameFreak managed to pack into such little games.

@@bugwells oh come on, don't tell me people hated the amie & training mini games when xy first came out. Those mini games are where almost all my hours playing went. That and the pr videos or whatever they were called, where you make a small trailer like video. The side content in xy was always great, unfortunately it's pretty much all the game had finished. The story was shameful and shallow compared to gen 5's stories, the world had many unfleshed-out areas that were missing accessibility, the friend group feeling barebones because lack of characterization, and let's not forget the start of nostalgia baiting charizard and mewtwo with 2 megas each. But as far as minigames and side quests go, gen 6 was awesome, making the legends game style a perfect fit for a remake.

That’s not true. We got trailers for Legends Arceus, showing off the plot, some of the Ride Pokémon, some of the characters, etc.
@@komarunaegi7460 yes you are correct but i meant didnt share anything as in very rarely did they show anything sorry for the wording. they starved us with legends arceus information by having every trailer or announcement have alot of time in between. i believe they stay tight lipped with the legends series to have that mysterious aspect of the pokemon games again.

they were never this quiet, and that's because it won't be until later into 2025 that we'll get the game.
Pokken is developed with the Tekken engine as you know. Most non-mainline games are bangers that introduce innovation, but they’re usually developed by third parties not beholden to their release cycle.
I wish they could plan a generation 4 years ahead of time and give it to another studio.
Gamefreak need to be kick out and let other dev take a stab on mainline games

6:40 - is there any update indicating Pokemon Legends ZA will release in early 2025? the original release trailer said “releasing simultaneously in 2025” but it does not indicate if it’s early or later in the year 🤔
I don't remember anything like that either, but from how I understand it a lot of people are assuming from 2 factors that it will release early in the year. Legends Arceus released early in the year so another legends game might probably do that too. The other factor would be that PROBABLY (not saying this is set in stone) Game Freak would probably want the game out by the new fiscal year because of the Switch successor thing and everything.
Of course I'm not saying this is what will happen, but that is why I think a lot of people are saying it will be early 2025

@@SoullessNazzerincounterpoint, it's probably going to be a cross gen release title, after all why else would GF delay the game a year? GF gave us scarlet and violet so its clear they don't care about delaying the games for quality, the only logical answer is nintendo is doing their job as the publisher and making them adhere to a deadline so the switch 2 has a pokemon game on launch, we all know pokemon is a system seller even in its awful state rn. Once the switch 2 gets unveiled likely in october, calling it we'll finally get a gameplay trailer confirming it (same for metroid prime 4 which also has a vague 2025 release window).
I personally can agree with most of your opinions, I personally had and still have fun playing Scarlet/Violet but it is obviously the bare minimum they could have done for the game. Tho I don't think they ever said that Legends Z-A will be early 2025, they just said 2025, so it could also be summer or even November, tho I can also see it being early 2025. I really like this video tho, pretty informative and shows a good look on the fanbase's view on the current situation, like I said, I don't agree 100%, but that's not what I'm here for anyways, cause opinions are just opinions. Also what i forgot to mention is another thing we know about Legends Z-A is that it will take place entirely in Lumiose city as of an official tweet by Nintendo of America and this as well could be very controversial, take it more with a grain of salt tho because, as you said, we haven't gotten any other news so far which could mean that this could still change or that it will be a little different then what we are expecting, for example, you are mostly in Lumiose but you still have to venture out to get materials or to help someone or sth
Legends arceus was the first Pokémon game that I actually completed a pokedex, the game felt like a breath of fresh air, while it looked like it ran on a potato graphicly, the gameplay is fun and the story is simple and is the most interested I've been in a pokemon game since the first pokemon game I played X&Y
Did they ever specify early 2025 for Legends Z-A? Last I remember they only said left it at a vague "2025". It was very different from Legends Arceus, where they specified early with the first trailer. For all we know this could be their holiday title lol.
they did not, they only said 2025 which did imply a later in the year release and that indeed seems like it will be the case.
No where in any announcement did they say ZA is coming "early 2025." It's just 2025, which means probably anything BUT early.
Also, Pokémon games don't have yearly development cycles, they're usually about 3 years, but SV was in pre-production since XY, much longer than any other Pokémon game since Red and Green.

It’s not Early 2025 it’s only 2025. When PLA was announced it said “early 2022” but when ZA was announced it just said “2025” with no release window. As of right now no one knows when the game is coming out
Gen 9 was never going to play like legends arceus anyone who was hoping for that were delusional you would have to legit sacrifice multiplayer/pvp which is a HUGE part of the pokemon experience these days. The attack styles ruin any and all pvp balance it's why legends didn't have pvp. Gen 9 was NEVER going to play like legends.

Dude, Ultra Sun/Moon have great replayability - if you are into solo challenge. I woukldn't recommend it for the story though.
EDIT: If someone want to nuzlock for whatever reason, you have these options against Ultra Necrozma: 1) get a zoroark and make UN shoot it with psychic damage 2) get a sturdy pokemon and infect it with Toxic 3) if you beat the oricorio-lady at the gate of Seafolk Village you get a band which "makes you sturdy" 4) bring a magnezone or something which has bulk and resistances and damage. It is far from impossible. I still suggest just do solo.

S/V were bad because they aren't great at 3D game design and are too stubborn to reach for help experienced in 3d Game design for Console level games. The games were lacking in every area except for the pokemon and even in that regard the pokemon didn't exactly stand out for me. As much as people like to praise Arceus for what it achieved as a Pokemon game, as someone who plays games other than Pokemon games, even that game showed just how much they do not understand about 3d Game design, while people praise it, realistically that game is still 10 years behind what most other Dev teams are capable of. The time factor isn't even a good argument anymore with a factor like this involved. I believe you could give them all the time in the world and they'd still release something that looks like a Novice's attempt at game design, which is insulting since there are Novices that can do better out there. As for Sword and Shield, they were originally developing those games for the DS which is why they got caught in their lie about the 3DS models and why hackers could still put the old pokemon back in the game that got cut.
You hit the nail in the head. Pokémon is SO far behind the rest of the industry, but there's 0 incentive to catch up and do better when the games keep selling like crazy. And all of this is insane considering Pokémon is THE MOST lucrative intellectual property in the world
@@lerdog And they're petty enough to stomp out their competition through Court instead of competing with game design. If they put half as much effort into making games as they do going after people for copying or using their assets they might actually start getting better at it, but the reality is, now that they're on the switch, unless they suddenly get good, their work effort is going to be alot harder to hide

@@friendlyotaku9525 SV isn't great either, there a huge amount of room for improvement. I have a list well over a 100 items that could be improved from just the opening of the game, and all stuff they cold have easily implemented. From a generic stand point as someone who plays many different open world style games and games with in depth story the games are bad, they're 10 years behind all other developers. I'm not saying you can't still enjoy what they put out, but enjoying it and being good games are two different things.
And just look at the games it's not hard to figure out Sword and Shield were original meant for the DS because Gamefreak legit did not think the switch would do well, the games were made for the DS and ported over to switch when they had to eat their words. If you paid any attention to stuff going on around the time between announcement for Sword and Shield and their release you'd know that hackers data mined the games and found the Models they were using were ripped from the DS games and not made from the ground up like they promised they were doing. And I could totally see them doing that because Gamefreak is stubborn.
@Kakachi07 Sword and Shield were always intended for the Switch so you are wrong. And they are still using the models from the 3DS albeit updated in SV, that's the point, they were designed to be future proof so they could keep reusing them.
And SV are great, is there room for improvement? Yes but do they do most things right aside from performance and visually, absolutely! The gameplay is of course great, the characters are great, the open world is awesome even if there's room for improvement, the freedom is refreshing and the story is one of the BEST in the series if not THE best!

I don't know if the silence has anything to do with PocketPair and Palword as Nintendo started investigating them at the beginning of this year and now a couple of days ago they sued the studio for several patent infringements regarding some mechanics and gmaplay things for which Nintendo owns the patents and which PocketPair has apparently used without their permission and without paying for licenses. I seriously started thinking about this, because it could very well be legal reasons why Pokemon can't reveal new information about Legends Z-A until the Palword lawsuit between Nintendo and PocketPair is over.
And I hope that PocketPair wins this lawsuit, because otherwise the real losing party in this fight is the entire game industry and developers who lose their trust and faith in Nintendo as a patent keeper and a defender against patent trolls.

Pokemon should focus on their coming game instead of the case/lawsuit... man, this large companies surely have their own legal department to handle things like this and devs can just continue doing what they're doing... also, i am not expecting a huge shift in the games with the fact that they don't have for this year... another would be, most who hated the recent games aren't likely to change their feelings towards the franchise even if the next game in the franchise turns out to be good...

We're not the right fanbase. Pokémon has become a gigantic franchise, the first priority is definitely not the video games. The video games only serve as the basis for their most important aspects: merchandise. Even if the games sell more than trading cards, the trading cards have better accessibility and more "enthusiasm" than the games. We have also entered an age in gaming that focuses on two things: mobile and subscription. This is why we have games like Fortnite, Apex, Valorant etc. This is why we see mobile games everywhere. This is why Pokémon keeps shoving in your face Café Remix, Masters EX, Unite (yes it's a mobile game too, you can play it on the phone) and PoGo. It's a franchise that thrives on constant new updates and things, but they feel that new elements MUST come from the video game, the origin of the franchise, which is why we get yearly releases.
Z-A doesn't have more dev time even if it releases in 2025 (not "EARLY", you just spread misinformation there), it probably started dev time right after Legends Arceus, meaning that it has the classic 3 year time development. The truth is the game industry is changing but we too are growing up. It's not necessarily about caring for the players but rather to make cash. Welcome to capitalism. If you really want a good Pokémon game, you're not in the right timeline and not in the right "world". Go elsewhere and play Palworld or smth.
People should stop having such high hopes for Gamefreak and TPC in general, and in a way lowering expectations for the franchise does heal the "wounds". This isn't just a Pokémon phenomenon, it's happening in every franchise. Minecraft seems to start to enter this weird "arc" too, especially with how catastrophic the Minecraft movie is for many fans. The same goes for FNAF where I predict the direction it takes, even if the folks at Steel Wool Studios have good intentions and still work with Scott Cawthon, will start to disappoint fans. We're just all growing up and moving into a world that has different priorities. It's joever.
only thing i can think with the whole monster-catching scenarios is that SMT demons are mostly damage, intimidation or even bribing demons, a lot of games doesn't have level-ups for demons and instead has to utilize fusion. Dragon Quest had monsters that approached you, but did level up (to an extent). Pokemon blasted off with what people would consider the archetypical monster catching genre. Dragon Quest Monsters is released, however it was arguably more like Dragon Quest, with breeding mechanics as well as inheritance; though later games adjusted gameplay mechanics, you could technically combine monsters until they had traits like metal slimes' 1 damage or counteract their low HP pools by trying to breed High-HP monsters.
Only thing i could kind of guess with Legends Arceus was that it was a somewhat of an evolution of SWSH's overworld battle mechanics, combined with elements of stealth survival (or just plain monster hunter). SV technically added material drops to pokemon in the game and even had an autobattle system that does its own thing while you sit nearby. Legends Arceus technically had more involved with the pokemon themselves like observing them using moves, KO'ing a certain amount, capturing or even obtaining really small or really large pokemon. if it's a large shape-up for ZA, i honestly kind of wonder how the game would fare if it was more of a conventional pokemon game (in terms of roster size, gameplay mechanics and so forth) like a main series game, with the elements of Arceus. maybe even possibly evolved, like obtaining materials for survival equipment, pokemon tracking and so forth.
if the Lumiose City tweet was a red herring, then i'm assuming there's either time travel, intradimensional travel. or the city composes of the entire Kalos region, or there's extensive catacombs that *technically* counts as part of the city. little strange Celebi and Victini still isn't transferrable into SV, nor are they awarded from old-save bonuses the same way Mew and Jirachi was.
If developers start suing each other left and right it would be very funny, and I would like to see it 🔥

The best way to sum this up, is that bar one example (Larry) I remember none of the towns or gym leaders from Scarlet and Violet. Unlike a more "linear" experience, there was no real need to learn them or engage with them as I could literally just run around them 😂

To be honest I genuinely think it's because they've been on top for so long they fear they've lost their edge, therefore afraid of any potential competition. They definitely won't admit it but wether they accept or not Pokemon has been stale for some time now. if a trailer for legends Z came out right now it would be review bombed to hell and the comments would be full of people hating on them for trying to sue palworld, and that hate would spread to more of the casual audience (x2 multiplier if the trailer looks bad, and maybe x4 if they fail their lawsuit). they want radio silence so the casual audience of pokemon fans dont hear anything about the palworld case or any other drama.
I am cynical enough to 100% believe nintendo is going through with this lawsuit because legends Z is looking real fkn bad.

With the whole lawsuit thing, I think it's because Sony took interest in Palworld, so Nintendo suddenly sees them as a threat. It's really sad how the consoomer rabid Pokemon fans are SO butthurt over some Palworld designs, that that's all they scream about all day long on social media. The lawsuit's about capturing creatures with balls, not how similar designs are.
If it WAS about designs? Well, Dragon Quest is in their right to sue Pokemon for their gen 1 Pokemon's similarities to some of DQ's monsters. Two can play at that game, rabid fans! Also, I hope a big company steps in and sues Nintendo in a way to where they realize "Well crap. We better step up our game with Pokemon." Only way this works is if we have competition.
Pokemon devs have gone on record that plenty of their ideas are from Dragon Quest games too.
The fact Palworld designs don't hold up in court should speak volumes that those really do not matter any more than how so many Pokemon are just redrawn Dragon Quest enemies.

Player want a fully massive open world game with same gamestyle as palworld without Gunn Let pokemon fight for you or craft in Wilds but Nintendo say No we going to continue Re-using same old pokemon game style just to change title and change some pokemon color and people will buy it regardless but Pocketpair decides to Show Nintendo what player want and they release palworld and that prove what player want something big like palworld but in pokemon universe. nintendo needs to focus on making Fully Open World Pokemon Game instead of wasting resources on pety Lawsuit, or else someone out there will show nintendo again what player want again like Pocketpair did with Palworld.

Base scarlet and violet is bad and very empty as you’ve said but the dlc is an exception because the dlc plotting and. Events is way better than the base game especially the indigo disk that was one of the most fun official Pokemon experiences ever the trainers were so hard to fight and the strategy needed to win is stuff that gym leaders should make you do.

sw/sh, to my understanding, was going to be on mobile because of expectations of the switch flopping like the wii u did, i can forgive sw/sh being a mess only because of fair reasoning in a rushed port from mobile to switch.

@@minislayer3241 I just remembered that not only is it insanely absurd speculation at best, it's quite literally factually untrue, as interviews with the devs literally stated that the entire reason the Dynamax mechanic exists is because they wanted to show off big Pokemon with the big screen of the TV as opposed to the small ones of handhelds. Implying that Game Freak ever intended for mainline Pokemon to go mobile is one of the most ludicrous takes I've ever heard.
