      well the other tribes didnt have that and had their own agendas and beliefs and of course wanted to know more but simply didnt use focus, though it was the more modern version and obviously they had no clue and nora refused that entirely

    I hate to say it, but it was pretty brilliant how Londra used the Quen's own faith to manipulate them. "They say there are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true, the other is to refuse to believe what is." (Vigo Grimborn, Dragons: Race to the Edge) The Quen fooled themselves into thinking that they were superior to all the other tribes because of the Legacy. But the problem with that line of thinking is that by believing that you're better than everyone else and destined for something greater, you can be easily fooled by someone with greater knowledge than you, which is exactly what Londra did. This is why I hate the "Chosen One" trope. Take Kina for example. Kina was a skilled navigator and an imperial favorite ever since she was young. As a result, she was already use to receiving special treatment and prestige, which is how she was so easily fooled by Londra's lies. Kinda believed what wasn't true and she couldn't see through the ruse until Londra revealed his true callous nature. The whole thing reminded me a lot of how HADES used Helis and the Eclipse in the last game. Horizon sure loves their cults. 😇😈

    Funny how the desire to stay close to the comfort of the "goddess" has kept the Nora so far behind compared to tribes like the Quen who venture out. Funny how comfort and safety can turn around and bite you when you're not willing to venture out and discover new things. The Quen are now my favorite tribe of our Horizon world. Their expertise in maritime transportation and societal structure has been most fascinating. Besides, their outfits are my favorite! Even the Carja don't have that much style.
    But, just like every other tribe, they misinterpreted the past and shaped their tribe into another lost civilisation of confused and lost humans.
    I hope Aloy and Beta will fix all this mess soon...
    Great video as always Sir!

      I am also curious to see what opposing tribes that fight the Quen when we get to Horizon 3. We'll we get to see Carja, Nora, and Oseram but with different tribal names but with similar lifestyles, or will they get creative and think outside of the box?

    • @Pro_Butcher_Amateur_Human

      A mix of both, I should expect. If something works, multiple societies will think of it independantly.
      In 148 BC, Carthage invented the promisory note, using inscribed leather. In 118 BC, China came up with the same idea.
      Marco Polo was shocked in his travel journal at the Mongol system. "How the great Khan Causes the Bark of Trees, Made into Something Like Paper, to Pass for Money All over His Country" was a chapter title, he found it so astounding.
      How many societies across the world invented similar religions? Like how the Norse and Greek pantheons ascribe personalities to the forces of nature, like wind, death, the sea, etc.
      So I could imagine other Horizon societies based on sun worship like the Carja, or tinkering like the Oseram, or Old World knowledge and ancestor worship like the Quen. They all make sense enough that they could be invented multiple times.
      So I think we should have a mix of new, and hints of old with a new twist.

    I love that you bring up that even the Imperials aren't allowed Focuses. Focuses are so overpowered, they're comparable to bringing gunpowder to pre-colonisation South America. Amazing that such a treasure isn't wider known, isn't it? Olin as a "lowly" Oseram Delver can walk around with such a marvel and people just laugh and think it's a jewel, and across the world, they're just about the most powerful tool a person could possess.

    A prime example that technological advance doesn’t equate to sociopolitical advance. To the Quen their unique knowledge has made them a very broken tribe, would be easy to think it would push them to incredible technological advances. But their prejudice toward other tribes and subsequent mistrust in their own people has made the sharing of knowledge a highly politicized and even religious matter. And no tribe is perfect but to point at the other main tribe in the Forbidden West, the Tenakth despite the perception of being a savage/barbaric tribe, we are soon proven wrong and get to see their belief system, more focused towards resilience and honor and also thanks to Hekarro, have united as a tribe, a whole more open to change for the good of their people. They understood that unity is key to their survival and that meant making amends with former enemies, like other clans and then other tribes, like the Carja. Despite some black sheeps the message remains strong. Sorry if I’m so biased towards the Tenakth, some of my favorite characters and side-quests have come out of the tribe. I also felt Aloy found a tribe that receiver her and others more warmly and is the tribe most open to change.

    Quen swords and spears that can be seen on hands of NPCs, on the Settlements or concept art seem to be inspired by shark tooth weapons of Polynesian cultures and Native Hawaiians. These weapons used a wooden shaped sword, dagger, lance, axe, club and had shark teeth attached to the edge of these wooden weapons by rope. In a similar fashion, the Quen Sword and Quen Spear have metal pieces to teeth attached to their wooden and metal weapons attached by rope. The Quen ship is also inspired by trimarans, which ultimately have their origins in Polynesian boats.

    Has there been anything released that shows the canonical ending to burning shores? I know the player is given the choice for aloys relationship but for the purpose of continuity in other titles and media there is going to be one option that is what was chosen. I really hope they decide to move forward with the relationship it was such an amazing story seeing it unfold, could tell from early on both were developing feelings and it felt so natural

    • @stitch1088
      @stitch1088 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I'm pretty sure the kiss was the canon ending. Otherwise, they wouldnt have gone thru so much trouble making Aloy and Seyka flirt constantly throughout the game. Also the little details the devs added to give the "relationship" more nuance, such as how Aloy would tell Varl ab her feelings for Seyka if u visit his grave, and how they heavily promoted Seyka's actress.

    • @Heyiammaxi
      @Heyiammaxi ปีที่แล้ว +6

      In my opinion the choice we've had was only on how Aloy acts on her feelings, but all choices made it clear, that Aloy reciprocates Seyka's feelings. So the romance is canon and they both know that they have a crush on each other. So I think they move on with it. But I'm not sure how big of a part Seyka will be present in Horizon 3, especially because this was a DLC. We'll see :)

    • @moonmoon2479
      @moonmoon2479 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I’m sure what’s going to happen is what happened with every other flashpoint, done on purpose.
      -Seyka shows up early to mid game
      -They aren’t together but have romantic tension
      -Aloy is still nervous and blushing around her and it’s obvious
      -Seyka and Aloy bond more and have moments
      - Seyka eventually pushes on Aloy and tries to start a relationship with her.
      -Aloy reciprocates and they date
      There. I’m not saying it will happen exactly like that but they get together, honoring Aloy’s feelings and character arc, while allowing all options to have happened and the outcome is the same.

    Fantastic summary as always, thank you! As outstanding as the lore and storytelling in Horizon is, the implications of Apollo's absence and the evolution of humanity aren't quite as logical. Even without Apollo, GAIA could have at least taught basic science. Why did she just leave the youngsters to their fate and not just leave Eleuthia open? They could have reconstructed the missing knowledge together with GAIA and the servitors. Why was she denied contact? Was it because of Ted? After all, the Focus were there, just not the knowledge.
    The Quen are doing something that probably would have happened if Apollo had not been deleted. Knowledge is censored and withheld from the normal people in order to exercise power. But even with the Focus, the Quen are not much further along in their development than the rest of the tribes. I think after 700 years they should basically be further ahead considering that there is still so much left of the old world.

    • @Rey-2517
      @Rey-2517 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Trying to responde to your text chronologically.
      As you said yourself Gaia wasn't allowed to initiate contact with humans. She can not act against her programming. Therefore, she couldn't have helped the tribal humans along.
      Why was she programmed that way? Probably to ease the new humans into the world. Have them learn with Apollo and understand the world first. Then, meet Gaia on their own terms once they're ready. Since learning with Apollo never happened they were left to their own devices.
      Though, admittedly I wouldn't put it past Ted to rig something up so Gaia couldn't intervene leaving himself the only source of knowledge.
      I'm not so sure about censorship. How would you go about censoring Gaias database? Or access to it if literally everybody has a focus (as was planned for the cradles)?
      And finally the Quen, if a society decides to restrict education and research to a few dozen people in the entire empire I'd say they are bound to progress at a snails pace no matter how much data those few have access to.

    • @RandomSideQuest
      @RandomSideQuest  ปีที่แล้ว

      Those are all some compelling questions, and unfortunately not much is known concerning the time humans were first released from cradle facilities... This may have been a remnant of a system where Apollo wasn't wiped, and humans were intended to take control of certain aspects of ZD systems for themselves. A fail-safe to ensure GAIA wouldn't have the power to influence humanities to heavily. Obviously though, this is all speculation.

And the creators of the Leviathan project had Asian names so it all lines up well for it being China.
      But if it was Africa, what's the problem? Just out of curiosity 😅

      @@voidgodsif it was Africa, it would make more sense for them to cross the Atlantic Ocean and they would probably end up in Soutb America, or in the United States east coast. If they were of African origin, especially Northern Africa, they would likely have a darker skin tone due to the stronger UV rays in that region

      That's the neat part; I can't tell why.
      Anyways:
      In short, I didn't mention why Stiyl and Kanzaki are going to appear with Accelerator and Index.
      The reason is simple;
      Accelerator is likely to declare war on the Anglican Church, for reasons including Index.

      Also, an interesting note about Ganbataar and Tyra. She has so far refused his advances, but he is undaunted, swearing that he shall one day “conquer the unconquerable.”
      However, if you remember way back to when I introduced Tyra, I said she shared her father’s love of battle, drinking… and women.
      She’s not unconquerable, Ganbataar just doesn’t have the correct equipment.

      And indeed, he is. Of course, while agreeing with his reasoning, Kanzaki and Stiyl remain worried about his method of..dealing with problems, as well as the conseqeunces of the course he's choosing. That said, they're all here for Index, first and foremost, and on that, they may agree.
      Here lies the birth of the Accelerator Faction!

    Interesting how modern corporations are often influenced by works such as "The Art of War" and empirical ideas of "conquest", and how the Quen were thus recreating Empire. Empires influencing companies influencing future empires.

    I really hope that they decide to course correct and not make the third game based around the Quen.... in fact I would be most happy if they weren't included at all. They were the most boring doll an uninspiring tribe of all of them. There were many women in many of the tribes that were of the lgbtq whatever the hell it is now community.... if they wanted her to hook up with a chick and have a sidekick they could have picked a female from any one of the other tribes. The way that the Quinn acted was akin to the way that Frey was in forspoken.... in fact almost every single one of the tribe members reminded me of her.. the entire tribe was unlikable in every way shape or form... Seka was just wasteful garbage inclusion that really didn't have anything in her background worth listening to or even exploring.... Alva has to be the most obnoxious character in the entire series thus far. I am very much looking forward to the third installment however I am not looking forward to needing to partake in anything more with this particular tribe hopefully they vanish Into Obscurity
