- Microphone shootout between the Shure PG58 and the Shure Beta58a for use in podcasting.
Microphones were compared using:
1) General conversation
2) Scripted dialogue
3) Off angle speaking into the mic
4) Rear rejection of sound from 24" and 32"

Overall I feel both these mics are pretty dynamite for use in podcasting. What are your thoughts?

Hello! Thank you very much for the review, I was seeking for a condenser for a podcast project but I as have one beta 58a I was thinking in using it, have you seen the cable XLR - USB to use it directly to the notebook? does it works well?
For podcasting both mics has the same performance. I think some fiddling with an EQ plugin is needed and will do much more than the mics.
Hello , I got both ones! The principal difference si the price ' cause they Performance si almost the same. When You' re closet ti speaker, te PG works better than the other one. The sound vicious is too low in PG . ( Almost nothing )
The Beta is a tiny bit louder maybe a 10db increase and a tiny tiny bit fuller I think but it's really hard to tell. Especially depending on what interfaces it's on or what not
@@Ridgeback_Productions yeah I just got mine in the mail today! You should definately get a mic activate or preamp tho
The pg58 sounds warmer than the beta 58. I'm surprised. The beta 58 has less handling noise though. On a mic stand the pg58 will work great.
