Well done Tonga. You sing proudly for your country and shed tears for your national anthem. Aussies on the other hand are embarrassed to sing for their country. Only a handful sing it and sing it meekly and it looks like they think if they sing it too loud it will hurt someones feelings. It's become too political and it looks like a team divided. How I wish politics stayed out of sports.
Hank anthems are political. You want politics out of sport but at the same time want everyone to sing a racist, colonial-era national anthem? Tongans are proud of theirs cause their song seems to represent all of them unlike ours in Australia.
What a fab day , England posh boys flogged at Rah Rah but the big result was Tonga 🇹🇴 this is a fab result for RL . Much love and respect from Warrington. 👍👍👍
Disappointing this, disappointing that 🤦🏽♂️ Mate! Take your head out your backsides! Australia played good! They just weren’t good enough tonight. Stop blaming your players. They're not. Johns and fittler whenever they played for australia always put in dominant performances. As ex players they're just disappointed that some players didnt meet the standards expected. I can see where they're coming from, they expect more.

However for the promotion of the NRL game in its expansion, and the positions they're in with the media,.... Diagnosis of the game shouldn't offer any bias comments or innuendo,.... Expansion is important,... Excuses and outing the blame on individuals in a team sport shows out the lack of respect to the opposition,... Crap flows down stream!,.... If your head is up your backside, it only transpires,... Taking away the fact that,... Hey!, you have superstars in the other team,...That is growing the game on another level regardless of the competition its players play in,.... Humble in defeat enables young men to grow character and humility and become better individuals all round, Don't take the credibility away from the coach and players of the opposition,.... At one time or another they all came through your same system,.... Growth man!,.... Mate Ma'a Tonga
I was rooting for tonga as an australian, just cause i was rooting for the underdog. But jesus christ give these kangaroos a break, they fought till the very end and yeah they made some bad decisions but the game was in the balance the whole time.
That’s usually the difference Tonga played for each other they are family to each other Australia needs to want to fight to win the game but Tonga you deserve this keep going play your exciting style and play with your big hearts
Dragon Brent at their level playing for their countries, you are expected to play your best EVERY game. That’s what you get paid for, and what many kids/ adults dream to do. They deserve all the “blaming” that’s coming their way, I’m not Australia nor Tongan but I definitely think Australia should have displayed a much better game.
Dragon Brent if you think that is their best then you obviously have never watched a single game of rugby league. There was no direction from the halves. They did what ever the easiest option was and it was poor. They deserve all the criticism that they get
@@lachlansinger3480 I noted that theres was no sense of direction too but not every game is played with the same momentum, spirit, and the energy. U said u play rugby too so u should know better that sometimes when pressure arises, players tend to loose confident and forget their game plan. Therefore, dont expect every games to be the same. 10q
Australia did let there jersey down because in the big moments they didn’t show up and they all wanted to be the superstar instead of winning it as a team so yeah Tonga played great but Australia can’t be let off the hook

J Gus yeah it’s a hard thing to get right. Aussies took a pay cut last year to play us and that was beautiful to see. It may not seem like a big thing because they earn a lot but league these days is so fast and tough that injuries could force you to retire. Just look at the players who have retired over the off season. In saying that the pay differences in Rugby are even worse.

All of the Tongan players are firm in the heart of any rugby league fan. Some play for our favourite club, some are a threat when they play against our clubs, but everybody has our respect. This is nothing but good for rugby league. Win lose or draw, I look forward to our next game against Tonga, as the spectacle of the game is as important as the result. Congratulations, Tongans, well played.
Why slam them when this is good for the game Joey? You have *ELEVEN* World Cups, the closest to that is Great Britain with *three* , this is way to show that the game is growing and changing, they played well but turned off at CRUCIAL points. A more competitive international landscape will help the game grow in different ways and markets.
Elijah Tchilembe-Mpovie I don’t know why his so disappointed Tonga team has heaps of super stars Joey should know a lot of the boys knocked back aus and nz jerseys so how is Tonga a tier 2 team true
The problem is when the Australians call it our game, Fijians don't call the sevens our game neither do any other team to Fifteens. League needs to become a truly global game with more interest from northern hemisphere teams. Fiji Bati are 3 time world cup semi finalists and they are still called tier two....hahahaaaa...
Just give credit where credit is due boys, Tonga played so well that they pressured Aus into mistakes and they couldn’t really get in to the game I. The 2nd half. They made in roads with powerful hit ups and chanced their arm when they needed to. Tonga played to their strengths and caused a boil over. 🇹🇴🇹🇴🇹🇴🇹🇴🇹🇴🇹🇴🇹🇴🇹🇴🇹🇴🇹🇴🇹🇴🇹🇴

The last team to beat Australia before Tonga outside of New Zealand and Great Britain/England was France in 1978. The team that came close was the Americans in 2004.
@@jgus4312 RIGHT?? It's crazy dude! I feel like the banning of the game during WW2 killed their momentum even though they made a couple World Cup finals afterwards.
This game was an mmense joy for all Tongans, some Australians said they wanted Tonga to win, Thank you Aussies for showing how much you appreciate the tremendous effort by the Tonga (little nation) team and also having a heartfelt desire for the Tonga team to reach another level in the international rugby league competition. Tongan fans also singing Aussies national anthem at the game, salute to all Aussies!
Any Aussies with that sort of mentality are rugby league lovers. Because they just want this beautiful family game to grow and reach every parts of the planet.
The imple fact is Tonga have an awesome middle forwards rotation: Taumalolo, Taukeiaho, Fonua-Blake, Fifita, Pangai Junior, etc and the kangaroos lost the motivation to keep running into them. I know this without having even watched the full match, because it is predictable - who would want to run into those guys all night?
get ready for whats coming in the future. this is just the beginning, the taste, of what the future holds for pacific Island players across the board. Fiji shown it in the Rugby 7s, so as Samoa. now, Tonga in Rugby League. believe me this is not a one off, started with england then, Australia and New Zealand. all in sequential execution. congrats Pacific brothers. Well done. proud of you guys. blessings from the tropical shores of the Cook Islands. Kia orana.
I think it is funny how fittler and johns made a point saying how the Aussie team was dominated by NSW players and that is exactly what we seen in the game a lot of one out running and no respect for their opposition, that sort of play we seen in the state of origin for many years that QLD dominated. Well played Tonga you deserve the win by playing like a team keep up the good work.
Wow Cool just like nick cotric or latrel mitchel both nsw boys. That’s the thing with Australians they point the finger instead of put ya hand up and admit you’s played bad and Tonga played well
The didnt let the jersey down, they gave us tongans a good challenge. Teams have their on and off games. You can't always be expected to win all the time. Great Job to the Kangaroos. Good win for the tongans.
Israel Folau would be laughing. Shame the Kangaroos and the Wallabies. They condemned his belief and his God. ARU sacked him and NRL shut the door for him. And it backfired. Painful pill to swallow for suppotters of both codes. I can see more pain to come in the future.
3:47 thanks for that freddy, honestly everyone avoids saying these words because its an “Australian” game and hate to admit the islanders are built for this game..
Sad to hear them talk like that about the Aussie boys. I was shitting my pants till the last play. Australians can score from their own try line. Australian Rugby league will always be the bench mark for footy and unlike rugby, NRL and the ARL are actually helping the lower tier nations grow their footy. Here’s to the future of rugby league🍻. 🇹🇴🇦🇺
Damn a bad game to a group of boys that represent a tier 2 nation.. turned down 30k a game for couple hundred dollars, lucky to make a couple thousand each, that 1 bad game against players that have to fundraise for accommodations, man ..they can rest now but they will never be the same after this defeat lol
Kieren Foley you’re right man. Aussies are the most dominant league team in history. Filter and johns were really harsh on their players. When and if we can consistently beat Australia is the time when they should start complaining about their team.
@@deevita7459 That is what happens when the players pay a lot of money, they were expected to win every game, Australia cannot just throw away millions of dollars to lose to a hundred dollars team
I’m a proud Aussie born Tongan, My birthplace (Aus) has severely underestimated Tonga, Some played with their heart on their sleeve then some played with arrogance
In the SMH today there’s a story about LM being unhappy with the $800,000 contract from the Roosters...based on last night’s performance he should sign up today.
He had it in him to be the greatest centre ever, but this years form has been just ugly to see. I honestly thought he would surpass Inglis based on last years form. Maybe it’s the new tattoos? Hope he regain that form and keep it at that level every game.
Nope. There are spectators who sing the anthem in all footie codes, and then get on the racial abuse during the game, or go home after a loss and beat their missus. It doesn't define your personal take on what constitutes the best of our nation.
El Rey Yes, some minorities do that. They I agree are disgraces to the country. However I do not agree that not singing the national anthem is not a terrible thing. It is, if you don’t respect who you are playing for you realistically won’t perform at your highest level. Latrell was one of the worst players on the pitch, one of the people who doesn’t sing the anthem. Simply I believe if you don’t sing it you don’t respect the country that made you who you are. You don’t play as a result.
Yeah don’t sing it in the crowd then don’t go to the stadium to watch game...lol they get paid play not sing lol. Besides Australia gonna be taken over by China by 2040 or even earlier advance australasia fair lol.
lol. Since when have Aussies given a stuff about the anthem? For years so many Roos players never sang the anthem. Even going back to the olden days.. same thing... why everyone kicking up a fuss now? 😂 Is it 'cause Tonga has sparked that patriotism in you or what? 😂
I’m just glad to see a game of football. Just bring Fitler in to Coach. Pay him whatever he wants. Joey in some sort of support role ... and yes, Berderus as well, may as well.
It's there job to break down the game and point out where they went wrong. Where are the excuses? It's not like they said there were bad calls or anything. Just that Australia didn't try hard enough.
Yeah tonga won but johns and fittler always dominated when they played for australia. Cant blame them for being disappointed with the aussie team they always expect the best of them.
Looking back on this, I'm not even Tongan and that loss to a 2nd tier team must've really hit a nerve here like its an attack on the green and gold jersey's dignity. Without taking anything away from the Tongans, the Roos actually had many chances to score a winner but that Red Wall stood firm with players who would literally "die for their country and heritage" as their nickname mentions even though they were posing as an "invitational" team.
Now when the Tier 1 countries get beaten, it proves you're growing/expanding the game. But be prepared, the Pacific Island countries are here to give you a taste of your own medicine.
Either way you look at it this is great for the sport to develop. Australias 50+ years of dominating the sport won't be wiped away from one game. Sometimes you need to lose to know what to improve on. Hats off Tonga I'm sure other nations will develop their game too and make international rugby league more competitive
Now the Aussies starting to shift their focus on the important of international footy. They should have embarrassed themselves. They focus too much on State of Origin, and forget about their obligations to get the game across the globe to reach every parts of the world. What is State of Origin? It just a money making sort of concept by getting the boys of NSW and Queensland bashing each other. This concept is holding back the game from growing. The more we see beautiful game like this the more chances of rugby league to spread across the planet like a virus. By the way thanks to both teams for this great entertainment. Hope to see more amazing moment like this in the future. Thank you
One game guys settle down. DCE, Munster, Lattrell and whoever else they're questioning are still world class players. They were simply outplayed by a team who wanted it more. This panel are goin through the motions and have said things im sure are regretting now

El Rey Yes, some minorities do that. They I agree are disgraces to the country. However I do not agree that not singing the national anthem is not a terrible thing.
