I don’t think people remember , the 2013 side had the likes of Brent kite, Anthony tupou, Richie faaoso, fui all be it were later in their careers but were players the generation under than them certainly looked up to. Jason was in that side too.

You're not wrong. Most of the players have never lived in the islands, most are playing for their heritage, not their country. Samoa has 2 players out of 23 born in Samoa. Tonga has 1 out of 21
I honestly dont rate Woolf as a coach. I watched all 3 games against England and we took over a strong squad but we were outplayed and outcoached in all 3 games despite what the scoreboard said at fulltime. Tonga played alot of one-out footy and Woolf took alot of his personal favourites over there and it showed. Siliva Havili and Tui Lolohea are Ron Massey level players.
TBH, I don't understand why it's not 4 teams. The tournament would still run the same length of time but no team would have a bye. The problem is that one of the southern hemisphere has to go to the UK each year for a test series against England. Next year it's gonna be either the kiwis or Kangaroos who have to go up there.
Out of the 3 teams, the kangaroos have the best backline by some margin. Tonga might just have the best forward pack. The kiwis will miss Hughes, Brown, Leota, NAS, Mulitalo, and Manu a lot. If the roos get parity in the forwards, I think their backs will get the job done.
