That's some good ammo for hunting and being store bought. It's like Randy Newberg says, it's all about putting a capable bullet in the right place and you will fill your tags just as well with a 308 winchester or a 7mm-08 Remington. This is a true statement.
Or a myriad of other calibers... thanks for watching and commenting. Godspeed and good hunting my friend.
I have always used 180 grain 30-06. It does everything. Deer big or small. Killed a pronghorn and a black bear as well. I did find 168g 30-06 i want to test but if it aint broke....
I get that. Proven combo
Eager to try this same ammo in 30-06 this fall. Super accurate out of my rifle.
Thanks for the upload!
It'll be fine. Though it won't penetrate as much going faster. Be fine for deer caribou black bear elk
Awesome video. Really sheds some light on the heavier if slower rounds for big game. Keep it up!
Yes sir i am pleasantly surprised at how well it did.
My first hunting rifle was a Remington model 600/6mm Remington caliber. It is also the first rifle I learned to hand load for. Wow, long time ago. I still remember that first load, 43 grains of 4831 with a 100 grain bullet. That rifle sure brought home the meat on many occasions.
Love that ammo in my 7mm Rem Mag. Thanks for doing this video. Absolutely nothing wrong with .308.
I've got to find some in 7mm Rem Mag.
I bought some of these in 30.06 last year! Great Bullet!
Nice
👍👍Thanks Chuck, I thought it performed very good. I really enjoy your hunting ammo test.
Thank You Brother!
I picked up some in 300 RUM. I am excited to try it out. It was the only ammo in 300 RUM I can find in stock currently. Thanks for the review video.
Let me know how it works.
I have some in 300 RUM I get 3275 fps ish out of 26" barrel
Surprised they don't fly apart
Bought 200 rounds of this! Now I can get a pretty accurate guesstimate on 16" velocities!
That's why I post this. Subtract another 50 to 75 fps for 16". Working on building a 16" or 13.7" pinned and welded for my wife.
3:15 blooper in the video, cool
Looking up your playlist for 308. I think 14.5-16" is minimum length, but 18-20" barrel is better
AB. Another good video. That really hit hard. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
Thanks Bobcat!
Great video! Thanks.
Thank you for Watching Dan. Godspeed and Good hunting for you!
Love your vids! Love the style, real life stuff, unpretentious!
Thank you Very much David. Godspeed and good hunting to you and yours my friend.
Very accurate out of my 308 Savage Predator.
NICE!
Just missed this, but if I survive I'll be back for it .
Shooting 190 grain ERBT from The .300 , I need some heavier and some very light for. 308
Loving the caliber choices.
Cool. Did you see my video last week about the 125gr Accubond and 130gr ttsx?
@@AlaskanBallistics yes ! It's almost mind boggling how much velocity you can get with lighter bullets . Something I need to try .
I have a subcaliber insert that let's me shoot .32 auto and. .32 longs through the. .308 , pretty cool .
@angusmcnaughton4570 cool
Always enjoy your videos sir
My 308 has a22” barrel and is the grandson to that model 600 you had there.
It’s my everyday , non specific gun.
Bush walking for deer , black bear season and certainly capable of moose inside 250 yards. I usually shoot partitions.
If I can even find this ammo I’d try it for accuracy.
Cool. Let me know how it works
It's okay the ammo that is; i pre the AT-10 in 308
AT-10?
Great video that will definitely do the job
Thanks for watching and the comment brother.
This is exactly where the Bondstrike shines.
Slower and heavy for cartridge bullet loads and long distances.
This bullet is great for most distances in 308 Win, but the moment it is loaded in the 300 Win Mag, it suddenly becomes a bad bullet for shorter distances and only good for longer shots in my opinion.
We'll see when i test the win mag
Good video. Looks like a winner 308win load, it should be a killer. The old Rem 600 reminds me back when i was a kid in 70's-80's.
Yeah that rifle kicks a lot though
Awesome awesome 👏🏻 I enjoy your videos
Thanks...
Awesome video Chuck. Good velocity and interesting diff between 18 and 22 inch barrel. Projectile expansion awesome. My buddy imports Norma into New Zealand and I got a couple of boxes of 708 Norma to try but haven’t worked that rifle up yet. I use Norma Vulcan in my 8x57 and have taken several deer with that. Yeah hard to beat a good 30 cal. Great all rounders cheers 🇺🇸 🇳🇿
Awesome. Glad you can still import it.
Hard to beat a 308
True
Great performance from a 180 grain.
Yes sir
Looking for something for elk and deer, could be the ticket.
Definitely good for both
Bondstrike ammo was available in multiple cartridges the past 2 weeks on gunbroker auction. I bid what I could on what I wanted but this stuff sold quickly and at high prices so I missed out. Wish I could get bondstrike bullets for reloading. I really wanted to try them
They are available occasionally for reloading on normashooting dot com
@@AlaskanBallistics thanks for the intel!
@derekmcmurry4263 they are still slim pickings
yep
Email me at Alaskanballistics@gmail.com If they have any and you don't buy more🤪
They also make a good accurate 150 grn fmj load too
Cool. I've seen MAC test those.
I would likely use 165 - 168 gr if I wanted to shoot heavy lead
Sure but these also performed well.
@@AlaskanBallistics If I thought bears were more likely I would go with a 180 gr , good to test it first .
@danoneill2846 absolutely
Good review
Thank you brother
Like Norma ammo but my mod70s 1-12 twist don't seem to like the heavier bullets so far
Yeah they aren't producing loaded ammo with this bullet any lighter at this time.
@@AlaskanBallisticsBarnes 130gr ttsx 308win shoots awesome less than half inch @100& velocities crazy fast for factory ammo 3128 22" barrel
Awesome. I love that 130gr .308 bullet
Very nice see this performing well as always. Some gave me some of the brass on trade.
Need said some to ur buddy 😂thats going caribou hunting with 308 m14
Cool man
The av Joe should be able to shoot a 308 well more rounds on the bear sled faster
Agreed
Check out the new 380 acp Norma JamesBond Strike ammo. 50 gr depleted uranium mercury tipped HEAT bullet. It's great!!!!
Cool
The Rem 600 is probably the best looking bolt action in my opinion
It was fun.
@@AlaskanBallistics how did the dog leg bolt action feel?
@brandensutton2324 pretty good but kicked like a mule
@@AlaskanBallistics that's how u know she likes ya lol
@brandensutton2324 lol 😆
Performance of the bullets look.good. Wondering how a subsonic 308 win would perform with a 200 to 220 grain bullet out of a 16inch and 23 inch barrel?
Still got to have the twist rate to stabilize those... 1 in 9 usually
1:10 on a 16in (bolt action Mossberg MVP) and 18in (PSA 10 AR).
I got some in 300 wsm they are tack drivers in my tikka
Nice. They were .9moa in my 6.5prc CZ
Please do video with you cooking some Alaskan bushmeat that you hunted yourself
Okay
Nice
Thank you
Thanks for the video. I think remington's shitty barrels contribute to the great variance in veoocity. I don't want to kill water bottles though 😂
Maybe so
300 win mag norma bondstrike is slow I can't recommend it. 300 RUM is good though.
Slower is. Better fit this bullet.
According to the website the 300 win 180 gr is 3084 fps at the muzzle . That the normal standard pressure for the 180gr.
@russellehrgood9835 we'll see when i finally make a video on it
Hello Chuck. I hope all is well and your pre season prep is all good.
I have a vid suggestion. I'd like to see a video on the difference between Norma "Soft Point" and Norma "Whitetail".
Reminder... I'm the guy in B.C. that asked about 9.3X62. I have a picture I'd like to send you that I think you and your friend Chuke would get a kick out of. Don't worry, it's totally kosher. What's the best way to send it?
Preseason? we're in the middle of season here lol!
@@AlaskanBallistics Lucky! We have to wait another couple of weeks. 😢
Alaskanballistics@gmail.com
Another great video. Thankyou.
Thank you Kindly
I'd suggest you re-do this test using a bolt action rifle with a standard 22" barrel. I dare say you'll see another 50 - 75 feet per second increase in muzzle velocity by doing so. A bolt gun and 22" inch barrel might bring out the full potential of this great round. Many thinks. GRL.
I agree. Patreon link is in the description. We currently can't afford one.
Tell us more about that M1A mag failure...
Not sure than i can
@AlaskanBallistics I have one, without issue but I have a '65 ishapore jungle carbine copy in 7.62x51. When I fired a little hotter 165g hunting load, the recoil dislodged the mags everytime. You didnt even have to open the bolt. Mags were good, spring catch good. The nato ammo, no probs. Im just curious as to how "hot" some of these specialty ammos really are?
@jwgbmp40 well this one was a 180gr at pretty standard pressures. Same gun and mag, as you might have seen, fed really really hot 130gr barnes loads just fine on last week's video.
@AlaskanBallistics thx.. im kinda new to the m1a and just want to be well informed.
I’ve used the 180 silvertip the old version in my MIA works good if it’s what I need . Is that a match or standard barrel.
Standard i think
@@AlaskanBallistics it’s on the barrel between the gas block and front sight, well mine is NM 308-ss.
Not my gun... so n I'll look next time we have it out
308 for moose best bullet?
Possibly... I'd buy a box of this, barnes ttsx (150 to 180gr), and federal terminal ascent and see which you like best... or what groups best in your gun
@@AlaskanBallistics thanks
Was that a Barnes ttsx bullet brother? I wondered cause I have some loaded with varget for my dd .308 haven’t tried on nothin but paper…I had loaded 168a max a yr or 2 ago cause I membered the luck others had with em
No this was a Norma Bondstrike?
@@AlaskanBallistics I know that I meant is Norma usin Barnes bullets in there factory loads…that blue tip i associate with the ttsx solid copper..
@charlesmullins3238 no it's lead
Im thinking 180s are too heavy for the cartridge. 165s of similar construction are probably much better.
This 180gr performed great at slow speed...
@@AlaskanBallisticsIt's not that 180s don't work in . 308, at normal hunting ranges, its that you lose speed without a fair rebate in terminal performance. Might as well push 165s or 168s whenever possible. Or better yet use a bigger . 30 cal so you have more fuel to drive the 180s or 200s. But it is true that a heavy . 30 cal can punch deep at pretty moderate speeds. The old . 30-40 did that real decent.
it def kill a deer
Or a moose! Godspeed and good hunting my friend.
It's gonna take down a caribou with ease
Or a moose
What pistol is that you are carrying?
The world's Ugliest Glock 20
@@AlaskanBallistics I thought it looked familiar but I thought it was chukes?
@adamshaw8214 no that one is mine I bought a while back. Search for a short entitled " world's Ugliest Glock 20"
@adamshaw8214 Chuke's is odgreen
Great vid.. but coulda done with out the disgusting godbless..
Well God Bless you!
