Absolutely a legend.. Met brown and Kerr in Minnesota before the stars relocated.. Totally great guys... treated us kids like we belonged playing in the arcade laughing.. Great group ..
I miss listening to the late great Gene Hart on Philly 57. The finals against the Oilers was one of the great series of all time. Flyers never quit against a juggernaut Oilers team. If rookie Ron Hextall went out for this ridiculous brawl he never would have won the Conn Smythe.
Brown came out to fight without a jersey, shoulder pads or undershirt, so he could get an unfair advantage. Nilan was REAL he had HONOR. A real warrior. The best. No cheap tricks. Ready for war each and every game. NILAN is the legend here.

One of my earliest hockey memories. It was then hockey became one of my favorite sports and the flyers were my favorite professional sports team.
Keenan plastered himself to the door to keep Hextall from going out.
And my Oilers beat the Flyers in the 1987 Stanley Cup Final. This was the best 7 game Final in NHL history.
"HEYYYY TIMMY YA GOT THEM FUCKIN' GLOVES CEMENTED ON?!"

Anyone who loves sports saw that fight!!👌
Yeah, you don’t wanna fight this guy
Good thing you had a jersey to grab Brownie.
i remember ESPN cutting away from their 7pm broadcast, and then they showed the fight in MTL.
My son went to a hockey event thus year where Shane Corson was in attendance. I told him to ask Shane about this brawl.
Nilan was a real warrior. He feared no one and was feared by all.

And he threw more sucker punches then anybody else in nhl history.
