An Italian here. If you want feel "Italy" and taste real Italian food, avoiding Milano that is a business city full of junk food, comfort food and surely not the best option to try a real Italian Pizza or going to KFC or McDonald, that's a thing you can do everywhere and for me it not giving you a real cultural prespective of the places you want to visit. There's tons of other even more beautiful cities to go, like Torino, Ferrara, Bologna, Padova, Firenze, Lucca, Roma, Orvieto, Napoli, Lecce, Palermo, Catania and many many many more that are, culturally and culinary speaking way better than Milano.
